Early in the morning, Kyle sat at the table eating breakfast with a serious expression.
"What's wrong with you?"
Cedric asked curiously, "You look like you're about to compete in the second event."
"Honestly, I'd rather start the second project today." Kyle sighed and said, "By the way, can you dance?"
"Yes." Cedric said casually, "My father took me to several dances before, and I learned it specially... What, don't you know how to do it?"
"Why do you all think I should be able to dance."
Kyle took a bite of bread in annoyance. "If I knew how to do it, I wouldn't have to worry so much."
"Pfft..." Cedric tensed the muscles on his face, trying hard to restrain himself from laughing out loud.
It was the first time he saw Kyle looking so embarrassed, it was really interesting.
"This...is not difficult." Cedric tried to make his voice sound normal, "Just follow the music...I just saw the latest notice in the hall, saying that Professor McGonagall will hold a club for the dance at ten o'clock in the morning. You can go and take a look."
"You're talking about that. Actually, I was the first one to sign up," Kyle said.
Cedric laughed even harder and covered his mouth with his hands to stop the laughter.
He didn't really want to do this, but somehow his mind was filled with images of Kyle madly stepping on his partner's shoes at the dance, and he couldn't help it.
There was no other choice, so Cedric could only use the excuse of looking for Qiu to quickly leave the table and run to the Ravenclaw table next to him.
Because Kyle was thinking about the next club, he didn't realize there was anything wrong and just thought he wanted to invite Qiu to the dance.
The news that there would be a Christmas ball had spread, and everyone was talking about it now. More students had signed up to stay on campus than ever before, as if everyone, except the first years, had chosen to stay at Hogwarts.
The girls gathered in groups of three or five, excitedly exchanging opinions and discussing what to wear on Christmas Eve.
The boys also started to act serious, and Ryan pinned a brooch on his clothes. Kyle had never seen him wear this before.
After a while, a girl with curly hair came over.
"Kyle, can you come to the dance with me?"
"Oh... sorry." Kyle came back to his senses and said, "I already have a partner."
"Is that so?" The girl looked disappointed as she left.
She was not the first one. In the next ten minutes, several more girls came over, from every college, but they all got the same answer.
Kyle had originally wanted to wait in the auditorium until the club started, but seeing the current situation, he gave up the idea and got up to go back to the common room.
…
At ten o'clock, Kyle arrived at the auditorium on time, and Connor, Cedric and others also came.
"You can dance, why did you come along?" Kyle asked Cedric in confusion.
"Ahem, it's nothing." Cedric pretended to be calm and said, "I just haven't danced for a long time. I want to get familiar with it again, so as not to embarrass myself later."
Kyle nodded without saying anything else, took a deep breath and pushed open the door of the auditorium.
This place had already been arranged by Professor McGonagall in advance. The long table had been moved to the side, leaving only rows of chairs, on which quite a few people were already sitting.
When Kyle walked over, his steps were unusually heavy, as if he was under a leg-locking spell.
When they arrived, Professor McGonagall closed the door with her wand and said, "Dancing is simple... dancing. There is a swan in every girl's heart, and there is a lion in every boy's heart that is eager to try..."
It is no exaggeration to say that these were the most difficult two hours for Kyle to date.
In fact, dancing was not difficult, at least it was much simpler than what Newt taught him, but the problem was that before he learned how to dance, he was called up by Professor McGonagall to demonstrate... and then stepped on her feet three times.
Kyle could even clearly see Professor McGonagall's increasingly dark face, as well as Fred and George's undisguised laughter beside them.
It goes without saying that they will not let go of this dark history for a long time to come.
This was indeed the case. In the next few days, Fred's favorite thing was to imitate Kyle's clumsy movements and step on George's feet during meals.
Kyle could only pretend that he saw nothing. He had no other choice. Who made him have these two friends?
It is worth mentioning that the professors at Hogwarts seemed to want to show the best side of the castle to the people from the other two schools.
So, a few days before Christmas, the handrails of the castle stairs were hung with icicles that would never melt.
The twelve Christmas trees in the hall were decorated with all sorts of baubles, from sparkling holly berries to hooting golden owls.
The only thing that made Kyle feel sad was that this time the professors didn't seem to be planning to let the ghosts serve as Christmas tree decorations... He always thought that was the most interesting thing.
A Christmas tree covered in ghosts is sure to impress guests who come from afar.
As Christmas approaches, the castle becomes more lively. The girls always act together, and when one of them receives an invitation, the others all laugh.
After a spells class, Kyle met Harry in the corridor, but he was not looking for him.
"Um...Qiu Zhang, can I talk to you?" He said nervously, clutching the hem of his robe with both hands.
"Of course, just tell me what you want to say."
"Um... can you, just... go to the dance with me..." Harry asked hesitantly, his voice was so soft that Kyle almost didn't hear what he said.
"I'm sorry, Harry." Qiu shook his head, "I already promised Cedric..."
Kyle was surprised to find that Harry's face was turning red at an incredible speed, as if someone was holding a brush and painting red paint on his face.
"Oh, okay, never mind," Harry said casually, and turned away quickly.
"I'm really sorry," Qiu said again.
But Harry didn't hear it. In the blink of an eye, he disappeared around the corner of the stairs.
Kyle smacked his lips and could only say that he was worthy of being the most talented Seeker in Hogwarts, as this was really fast.
"It's always like this lately. I really hope Christmas can come soon." On the way to the auditorium, Qiu looked at Kyle, "Strange, why don't I see anyone inviting you."
“It’s just not there anymore,” Kyle said.
A lot of people invited him a few days ago. After Professor McGonagall's club, several senior girls said they could teach him to dance... but Kyle refused.
With their mediocre skills, they were not as professional as Professor McGonagall. He was trained by Professor McGonagall and Professor Flitwick for three hours every day after dinner. Sometimes, Nick, who was almost headless, would give some guidance.
This ghost who always likes to shake his head like a fan is actually quite accomplished in dancing...but the head-shaking movements are a little bit scary.
