Chapter 586 Rita Skeeter's Rejection

"Professor Dumbledore is not joking. He is really back. If necessary, I am always available to attend your meeting and answer some questions..."

Diagon Alley, The Leaky Cauldron.

Kyle sat in a relatively empty place, writing a reply to Doug McPhail on parchment.

During this period after the holidays, he often received similar letters asking him whether he had really seen the resurrected Voldemort.

Most of the people who wrote to me were magical animal experts that I met last time at the Romanian Fire Dragon Sanctuary.

For example, Professor Locknir of Beauxbatons, Madam Rochino who studies dragons in North America, and Hagrid's favorite, Mr. Lima, who published "The Monster Book of Monsters".

I think Dumbledore told Newt, and then Newt found them.

Then there were the people who had previously awarded him the Order of Merlin.

Doug McPhail is one of them. This morning was the second time he wrote to me, asking about the authenticity of the matter.

However, it can be seen from the scribbled cursive on the parchment that even though he had already known the news, he was still not at peace.

In the letter he also mentioned that Dumbledore was going to hold a meeting in his personal capacity to explain the matter in detail and formulate a series of subsequent plans.

He wanted to know if Kyle would attend the meeting, and if so, there were some questions he would not ask in the letter.

To be honest, Kyle didn't actually get this news from Dumbledore, but he didn't mind making an extra trip if necessary.

Kyle handed the reply letter to Laton beside him. The owl grabbed the envelope and squeezed out of the skylight with difficulty, leaving behind a few feathers.

"Two butterbeers, Tom," Kyle called out. "Also, have you ever thought about opening the window wider?"

"I don't think it's necessary."

Old Tom at the bar looked up at the owl feathers on the ground and said, "If you can replace it with a normal owl, you will find that the window is just right.

"Merlin's beard, what did you feed that owl, dragon liver? Or did you use a swelling spell on it?"

Kyle shrugged and said nothing.

However, the person sitting opposite him was amused by Old Tom's words and let out a shrill and somewhat artificial laugh.

"The Triwizard Tournament champion used the Swelling Charm on his pet owl. What a great topic. Can I write about it?"

"What do you think?" Kyle said without looking up.

Rita Skeeter raised an eyebrow and said nothing, but her hand remained pressed on the fancy automatic quill.

"Do you know what a torture this is for me?" she couldn't help but say.

"Just because I don't allow you to write about me using the Swelling Charm on the owl?" Kyle asked, "Not really. This was just a joke from old Tom."

"You know that's not what I'm talking about," Rita Skeeter lowered her voice.

"A personal meeting between Minister for Magic Dougal MacPhail, the resurrected You-Know-Who, and Dumbledore in 1858.

"Any one of these three pieces of news is enough to shock the entire wizarding world...but I can't write anything. Isn't this torture?"

"Don't talk nonsense. I didn't stop you from announcing the You-Know-Who's resurrection to the wizarding world, did I?"

At this time, Old Tom came over with two glasses of butterbeer and a plate of butter biscuits.

"How much."

"Not necessary this time." He showed a few shaky teeth, "Congratulations on winning the Triwizard Tournament. Hogwarts hasn't received this honor for a long time."

"If that's the case," Kyle said. "Then have another glass of Ogden Gold Mead."

"No problem. Please pay ten Galleons first."

"Didn't you just ask me?"

"Butterbeer and cookies only," said Old Tom calmly.

"Then forget it... you're so stingy."

Old Tom turned around without saying a word and went back to the bar.

"How about one hundred Galleons per article... If you write ten in a row, you'll get all the prize money I won in the Triwizard Tournament."

"Very tempting conditions." Rita Skeeter said, but she did not directly answer Kyle's question. Instead, she picked up the butterbeer and took a sip.

"Honestly, when it comes to making up stories, you're more suitable for this job than me. I almost believed it just now.

"But now, if you don't have anything else to do... I'm going to go back to writing tomorrow's front-page article."

She stood up and said, "The Daily Prophet has urged me many times...Oh, thank you for the butterbeer."

"Are you scared?" Kyle said with a smile, "This is the first time I know that you can be scared sometimes."

The next second, the mug of butterbeer slammed heavily onto the table.

"I, Rita Skeeter, have never been afraid to publish anything!"

The movement here attracted the attention of many people, but when they saw that it was Rita Skeeter, they all turned their heads away silently.

No one wants to get in touch with this gossiper if they still care about their reputation...

Rita Skeeter didn’t care about the noise around her. She took a deep breath and said word by word, “But I won’t and can’t publish articles that everyone doesn’t like. This will make my reputation plummet.

"I don't know what game you're playing, but I know that if I tell everyone that the mysterious man who caused the magic war more than a decade ago has returned, guess what will happen? "They'll think I'm Xenophilius Lovegood, and my career will be ruined. I will never make such a stupid decision!"

"Even if I use photos as leverage?" Kyle asked calmly.

This time, Rita Skeeter was silent. She sat down again and drank the butterbeer on the table.

After a long time, she said, "I can pay for that photo with all my savings."

"I have money," Kyle said.

Rita Skeeter fell silent again.

Although her previous writings had a lot of artistic processing, they were all extensions based on a small part of the truth.

She had never written anything as fake as the resurrection of a mysterious man.

Rita Skeeter could imagine that if she really wrote this, not only the people who read the Daily Prophet, but even the Ministry of Magic would not let her go... unless the mysterious man really showed up afterwards.

But this is impossible. Everyone knows that the mysterious man has been killed by the savior, Harry Potter...

Resurrection? No kidding.

Although Dumbledore said the same thing, no one believed it, including her.

The only person in the wizarding world who was still alive after being hit by the Killing Curse was the famous Harry Potter, but he didn't die at that time.

As for those who died and were resurrected...none existed, including the most famous dark wizard in the Middle Ages, the despicable Herpo.

The best they can do is turn into ghosts.

"I don't understand why you would do this, just to scare others? If so, you can come up with a different reason, or just leave it to me. I'll write it for you. There's no need to use the mysterious man's name. It's a taboo!"

Rita Skeeter's tone was filled with pleading, "It's not worth it, and you will be affected too. You just won the Triwizard Tournament and are a member of the Order of Merlin. There's no need to go crazy with Dumbledore and that Potter! It's not worth it!"

Kyle just looked at her calmly without saying anything.

Rita Skeeter's face kept changing, and finally her expression gradually became gloomy and fierce.

"I'd rather go to the Ministry of Magic right now and admit that I'm an Animagus." Rita Skeeter lowered her voice and said firmly, "But you won't have an easy time either, I swear!"

Although she would no longer be able to obtain any secret information after doing so, and might face various investigations, or even pay a high price for it, it was at least better than being directly reported by Kyle.

The more she thought about it, the angrier she became, and her expression became more ferocious.

"I will disclose everything you said today and tell everyone that you are just like Dumbledore, an absolute lunatic and a fool who wants to attract attention!"
