Chapter 674: The Anti-Death Eater Front

But compared to most of the Ministry's offices which are as cramped as broom closets with only two or three people crammed in, this one is already top-notch.

For example, Mr. Weasley's Misuse of Muggle Artifacts Department, which he had been to once before, was an office the size of a broom closet, but it was filled with two desks. The things in the cabinets were overflowing, and the extra files had to be placed everywhere they could be seen, making it difficult to find a place to put your feet.

Kyle couldn't understand why the people in the Ministry of Magic didn't use the Invisible Extension Charm to make their offices more spacious.

He also asked Mr. Weasley, but got no answer. Mr. Weasley just said that it was fine as it was and he was used to it, so there was no need to do anything extra.

Arriving in the office, Fudge took off his hat and asked, "What do you think of this place?"

"Very good." Kyle said, "I am now officially on the job, what tasks do you have, Minister?"

"It's not really a mission." Fudge fiddled with his hat. "You're only in sixth grade now, so you should focus on your studies."

Kyle naturally didn't believe such words. Fudge couldn't let Umbridge leave for no reason. It was obvious that he had something to say.

Besides, he still has 150 Galleons every month. It's impossible for him to take this salary for free. Fudge is not that generous.

This can be seen from the fact that Cedric only has a pitiful seven Galleons.

So Kyle didn't say anything, just waited quietly for Fudge's next words.

Sure enough, a moment later, Fudge asked casually, "I heard from Albus that you saved Harry Potter in the final task of the Triwizard Tournament?"

"That's right." Kyle did not hide it and said, "A Death Eater used Polyjuice Potion to sneak into the castle and took the opportunity to kidnap Harry."

"Then how did you find out?" Fudge asked. "I remember you were working on the third project at the time."

"Because the Triwizard Cup..." Kyle said, "It was replaced with a portkey. When I got it, it was automatically transported to where Harry was."

"Oh, I remember now." Fudge suddenly realized, "I remember that you suddenly disappeared after you got the trophy. To be honest, I always thought it was part of another project."

"No, I was sent to the top of a mountain..."

"So, you also saw the resurrection of the mysterious man?" Fudge's eyes flashed and he stared at Kyle without blinking.

"I didn't see the resurrection of the You-Know-Who." Kyle said calmly, his expression unchanged, "But there were indeed Death Eaters planning something there, and Dumbledore rushed over very quickly and sent Harry and I back to Hogwarts.

"As for what happened afterwards, only Dumbledore knows."

Fudge said nothing, just looked at Kyle and fiddled with his hat.

He didn't think Kyle was lying, after all, everything made sense... Kyle suddenly disappeared after getting the trophy, and then Dumbledore disappeared too.

And the most important point is, if Kyle also saw the mysterious man, then when Dumbledore was promoting the mysterious man's resurrection, he would have no reason to stand on the side of the Ministry of Magic.

Fudge's expression was a little complicated, with a hint of disappointment.

A month ago, the last thing he wanted to hear was the news of the mysterious man's resurrection, but now, he hoped it was true.

But Fudge himself was unsure. He was not sure whether the mysterious man was really resurrected. The reason he published that report was because he was forced by Dumbledore.

Ten Death Eaters escaped from prison at the same time. If Dumbledore could seize this opportunity, he would be able to remove him from the position of Minister without any effort.

But even if he had kept his position now, he was still having a hard time. Since the jailbreak, a large number of letters had been sent to the minister's office every day, many of which were shouting at him to step down.

And these Howlers were previously sent to Dumbledore.

Everyone seemed to think it was a ruse on his part... so he could stay as Minister for Magic.

And as time went on, such voices became more and more numerous, even appearing within the Ministry of Magic.

There are ways to solve this problem. The simplest one is for the mysterious person to appear in public once.

As long as the mysterious man shows up, there is no need to say more.

But this was not something Fudge could control, and he subconsciously did not want to see that scene.

So the only thing he could do now was to find more people, especially those with reputation, to prove it.

He had mentioned this to Dumbledore when he went to Hogwarts before, but so much time had passed and there had been no progress.

Obviously, Dumbledore didn't want to help.

"Kyle..." Fudge suddenly asked, "Do you believe that the You-Know-Who has made a comeback?"

"Of course." Kyle said, "After all, the newspapers said that he rescued ten Death Eaters. If it wasn't for the You-Know-Who, who would have the time to save those people?"

"But there are still many people who don't believe it." Fudge said in a deep voice, "This mentality is very dangerous. The reason why I am taking the risk of being ousted from office to announce this to everyone is to make everyone fully prepared to face the upcoming war.

"But now many people insist that I am doing this for my own selfish gain. If this continues, our efforts will be in vain."

"That's right." Kyle nodded in agreement and said, "Then what the minister means is..."

"I remember that you seem to have a good relationship with Mr. Scamander, right?" Fudge said, "As a famous expert on magical creatures, if he is willing to help, he may be able to change many people's minds."

"I see. I'll try to convince Newt," Kyle said.

"That's great." Fudge smiled. "Well, get familiar with this place first. I still have some things to take care of."

He put on his hat and prepared to leave.

"Wait a moment, Minister." Kyle stopped him and said, "I have an immature idea that may play a certain role."

"Oh? What's the idea?" Fudge stopped and asked.

Kyle glanced at the closed door and said in a low voice:

"I think some people don't believe us because it's so quiet out there right now."

"calm?"

"That's right." Kyle continued, "Since the Death Eaters escaped from prison, there has been no news. It's as if they all went into hiding. This doesn't fit their style more than a decade ago. It's normal that everyone doesn't believe it.

"After all, in most people's impressions, Death Eaters with the support of the mysterious man are extremely arrogant."

"But they really hid." Fudge sighed, "Neither the strikers nor the Aurors found any trace of the Death Eaters."

"But what if we find out..." Kyle's tone rose slightly, "The Ministry of Magic has to deal with so many emergencies every day. Is it possible that the culprit of one of them is Antonin Dolohov?"

Fudge looked up and instantly understood what Kyle meant.

It doesn’t matter whether the Death Eaters come out or not. The Ministry of Magic has to deal with so many illegal matters and wizards every day. They can just pick one with a bad influence and put the blame on the other party.

As for what was considered bad... Fudge remembered that he had heard Weasley and Perkins discussing this morning that someone had cast a Transfiguration Charm in their garden in order to trick Muggles.

Isn't this a proper attack on Muggle streets? Fudge was somewhat tempted, but now there were two problems... Then he frowned and said, "But what if we can't catch anyone?"

"Isn't that normal? Death Eaters are hard to catch." Kyle said, "As long as it is confirmed that they did it, it will be enough to make many people alert."

Fudge's eyes lit up. He took off his hat again and paced on the spot, asking, "So, do you think that if we want to investigate the Death Eaters, would a striker be more suitable, or an Auror..."

“No.”

Fudge repeated Kyle's words, searching for the right person in his mind.

Nothing matters, only loyalty...

This way, all the directors were ruled out. Fudge knew very well that none of them would help him to do such a fraudulent thing.

And even if they were willing, Fudge himself would not feel at ease.

But who else? Kyle, who originally proposed this suggestion, is the most suitable candidate, but he still needs to go to class and has no time.

Suddenly, Fudge thought of someone who met all the requirements perfectly.

"What do you think Dolores?"

"Professor Umbridge?" Kyle thought seriously for a moment, "I think she is a bit overqualified at Hogwarts. The anti-Death Eater front is the real stage for her to display her talents."

"Anti-Death Eater front?" Fudge pondered Kyle's words and felt excited.

"Ah, I knew that letting you join the Ministry of Magic was the best decision I made this year." Fudge said with a smile, "I didn't expect that on the first day, you would come up with a way to expose the Death Eaters' conspiracy."

"I am only offering a trivial suggestion, Minister." Kyle shook his head and said, "The person who did this work is the real hero against the Death Eaters."

"You're right." The sadness on Fudge's face disappeared and he left the office with a smile.

To be honest, the Hogwarts students came to the Ministry of Magic just as a formality and to familiarize themselves with the environment. They were not really expected to complete any work.

But even so, when it was time to get off work in the evening, everyone had a look of being unsatisfied.

Unlike in school, everything in the Ministry of Magic felt very new to them. Even if they did nothing, they could still brag about it when they returned.

Only Cedric, Mr. Diggory, really trusted his son. In order to prove his ability to others, Cedric never had a day of rest.

"I wrote five reports, which took up nearly a roll of parchment."

By the afternoon, he was rubbing his sore wrists and muttering, "This is the first time I know that there are so many boring things in the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures. Adding wings to pythons, disguising Cornish pixies as leprechauns and selling them... Are those people so boring?"

"That's really what they do," Kyle said. "You don't think that dangerous creatures are running into the streets every day."

"Of course I know." Cedric scratched his hair.

"Where's Mr. Diggory?" Kyle asked. "Didn't he help you?"

Cedric's face changed and he whispered, "My dad hasn't been in the office all day."

"Okay, I get it." Kyle suddenly realized.

It goes without saying that Mr. Diggory must have pushed all the work onto Cedric so that he could have more time to show off to his son.

But Cedric is indeed very good. There are very few people who can take over all the work smoothly in their first job. Although these tasks are simple, they are also quite tedious to handle.

The two stopped next to the elevator and prepared to gather in the hall, where they would return to Hogwarts through the fireplace.

Soon, the elevator appeared with a clatter and they walked in.

There was another person in the elevator, and he was an acquaintance.

"Long time no see, Percy." Kyle greeted.

To be honest, he seemed to have not seen Percy for a long time. Fred said that Percy lost contact with them after the Weasleys moved to Number 12 Grimmauld Place.

This Christmas, he even returned the sweater Mrs. Weasley had given him.

Because of this, Fred and George were very angry and said that they would teach Percy a lesson next time they saw him.

Kyle was also disgusted with Percy's behavior, but this was the Weasley family's business after all, so he couldn't interfere too much. He greeted him just out of politeness, and Kyle didn't plan to talk to him anymore.

Same thing with Cedric, he didn't even have to say hello to Percy.

The elevator suddenly fell into an eerie silence.

Percy stood behind, looking at the two of them with a conflicted expression, as if he wanted to say something but couldn't.

It was not until the elevator reached the lobby and Kyle and Cedric walked out one after the other that he suddenly said, "Please wait a moment..."

The two stopped and looked back at him.

"Congratulations, Kyle." Percy forced an unnatural smile, with a hint of envy in his eyes. "I heard that you are now a senior assistant to the minister. That's great, isn't it... I mean, I'm also an assistant to the minister, and I'm very happy to work with you."

"Thank you." Kyle said casually, "But I can only come to the Ministry of Magic once a week, so I may not be able to work with you."

Percy was a little embarrassed. He didn't expect Kyle to not give him any face at all, as if he was facing a stranger.

Of course, he had thought of this situation... when he returned Mrs. Weasley's Christmas jumper.

But what he didn't expect was that Kyle would become the Senior Assistant Minister of the Ministry of Magic in one step, which was almost his immediate superior.

Percy looked back at Cedric.

"Sorry, I'm from the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures." Cedric politely interrupted him.

"If nothing else..." Kyle glanced at Professor McGonagall, "We're going back to Hogwarts now."

"Wait..." Percy said quickly, "I know I may have done something wrong before. Mom is right. I should trust Dumbledore. Can you help me talk to them..."

"I'm sorry, but we probably can't help you with that." Kyle interrupted him, "If you really want to get their forgiveness, why don't you go and ask for it yourself.

"Mr. Weasley works on the second floor. There's only one floor between you. You can always take some time to go see him."

"I, I don't know what to say." Percy's face turned red. "I did so many excessive things before, they must be very angry."

"There's no doubt about it," said Kyle. "Fred and George have sworn to give you a beating, and Charlie, it's said, would have come to the Ministry to teach you a lesson at Christmas if Ginny and Mrs. Weasley hadn't stopped him."

"That's as it should be," Percy said. "I wish they would."

At this time, other elevators also came down, and a large group of people walked out of them, and the area immediately became much more crowded.

At the same time, Professor McGonagall on the opposite side also waved her hand, as if signaling them to hurry over.

"Okay, Percy, we can't help you with this. You'll have to do it yourself."

Kyle said, "If you really want to apologize, go find Mr. Weasley. He will definitely not turn you away anyway."

Kyle didn't say anything else to Percy, and went to where everyone was gathered with Cedric.

When everyone arrived, Professor McGonagall took them back to Hogwarts.
