Chapter 677: Occupations in the Magical World

This has never happened in previous years.

The library became the most popular place and was full of people before eight o'clock every morning. If you came late, you could only find another place to do your homework with your borrowed reference books.

But this is not so convenient.

After all, the homework assigned by the professors is not only numerous, but also involves a variety of different knowledge points. One or two reference books are definitely not enough. Sometimes when they are halfway through writing, they have to return to the library to borrow books.

As a result, some people get up earlier and earlier, especially fifth and seventh grade students, who some even wait at the library door at six o'clock.

It was a good holiday, but it was more tiring than going to class normally.

"Crazy... the whole Hogwarts has gone crazy."

Early that morning, Mikel and Ryan were in their dormitory, complaining and putting robes on their heads.

"We now have to get up an hour earlier to barely find a seat in the library. I have never gotten up so early before..."

Mikkel said irritably. He looked at Kyle who had just sat up from the bed and said, "Why haven't you put on your clothes yet? Never mind. I won't wait for you. Do I need to save a seat for you...if there's any space in the library?"

"No, go ahead." Kyle waved his hand. "I just applied to the Ministry of Magic for a practical activity, so I don't have to do my homework."

Mikel, who was about to go out, suddenly stopped and turned his head stiffly.

"What did you say?" His voice was high and shrill, sounding like a goose with its neck pinched. "Not doing homework... do the professors agree?"

"Well, most of the professors agreed." Kyle stretched. "This is a serious matter. Even the minister agreed. There is no reason for the professors to refuse."

For a moment, Mikel and Ryan felt as if their stomachs were stuffed with lemons, so sour that even their expressions were distorted.

"It's a real treat to work at the Ministry..." said a sour voice.

"Although I don't really like this job, I have to admit that it is quite useful at times." Kyle said with a smile, "Come on, one day you can do it too."

"Huh!" Mikel laughed strangely, and then the two of them turned around and left without even looking at Kyle.

Kyle can skip his homework, but they can't. If they delay any longer, there won't be any seats left in the library.

After they left, the dormitory suddenly became quiet.

When Kyle slowly came to the common room, he found that it was also full of people doing homework.

Every armchair was filled with people, and the table that was originally covered with various snacks and desserts was now covered with piles of books and parchment.

Kyle was tactful enough not to brag about not having to do homework, and quietly left the common room.

There were also a lot of people in the auditorium, which was also the most popular place besides the library and the common room.

Here, everyone can do their homework directly after eating without having to make an extra trip. And because there are so many people, they can also borrow each other's reference books.

This also made the auditorium noisy and lively.

Kyle simply ate a few fried egg and ham sandwiches, then left the auditorium and went to the field outside.

Connor and Cedric were both busy, and Kyle didn't want to be seen as being too idle, so he decided to go see Hagrid.

After not seeing him for a while, the wound on Hagrid's face has almost healed, and only a few traces can be seen vaguely.

"How come you have time to come to my place?" He looked very happy. He put down the wood in his hand and asked with a smile, "Haven't I congratulated you on joining the Ministry of Magic yet?"

"Don't talk about this." Kyle rubbed his forehead, "What are you doing?"

"I'm going to make a bowl," said Hagrid.

"Bowl?" Kyle thought he had misheard and subconsciously took another look at the wood that Hagrid had placed next to him... It was indeed hollowed out in the middle, but how should I put it, if this thing was a little bigger, it could be used to give first-year students a bath.

Is this a bowl? "Oh no, I said it wrong..." Hagrid quickly corrected himself, "What I meant was that I was going to make a wooden barrel... um... to deliver food to the Thestrals, and the previous one was bitten."

Seeing Hagrid's guilty look, Kyle suddenly realized and said firmly, "This is not for the Thestrals, but for the giant you hid in the Forbidden Forest."

"Okay." Seeing Kyle say that, Hagrid didn't hide it anymore. "I've been trying to teach Grawp to eat in a normal way recently, but the progress isn't ideal. He seems to prefer holding the food in his hands... Oh, Grawp is his name."

"I don't think that's necessary, Hagrid," said Kyle. "Even if a giant covers his food with mud, it won't get him sick, right?

"Besides, given their intelligence, it seems difficult for them to understand what tableware is. Why bother with that?"

"No, I need to teach him some rules," Hagrid shook his head and said firmly, "Then I can get him out and show everyone that he is not dangerous."

"Take him out?" Kyle blinked. "Take him where, Hogwarts? Or are you going to let him work as a gamekeeper with you?"

"I know it's difficult, but I have to do it..." Hagrid picked up the barrel and continued to dig out the wood chips bit by bit. "He is too small to live in the giant tribe. He can only survive in the Forbidden Forest..."

Hagrid had tears in his eyes, "He's my brother. I can't abandon him."

"Your brother?" Kyle said, not expecting Hagrid to tell him that out of the blue.

"Actually, he's my half brother. He's a pure-blooded giant..." Hagrid wiped his face with his sleeve. "Speaking of which, I should thank you."

"Thank me for what?" Kyle thought for a moment and realized that he didn't seem to have helped Hagrid with anything recently.

"Yes, last time at the Three Broomsticks, I heard Professor McGonagall say that it was you who found a way to get rid of Umbridge." Hagrid said with a hint of relief in his tone.

"Honestly, when that nasty girl was still in school, I felt like I could be fired at any moment, and she had hinted to me so many times.

"I can't imagine who would take care of Grawp if I left school. He's just a sixteen-foot-tall child, weak and helpless. What would he do in the Forbidden Forest?"

Kyle frowned, trying to come to terms with the strange combination of 'sixteen feet' and 'helpless'.

But Hagrid didn't notice Kyle's abnormality and continued, "I've thought about whether I should entrust him to you to take care of him..."

"No problem for me." Kyle blurted out, "I just happen to be free recently, and I'm happy to help."

"Oh, that's not necessary now." Hagrid waved his hand, "That's why I said thank you, now that that nasty Umbridge has left the school, I won't be expelled, and I can continue to take care of Grawp.

"And I don't want to trouble you too much... I know you have exams coming up soon."

"Believe me, Hagrid, I don't mind it at all." Kyle said sincerely, "You don't have to be polite to me."

He had never seen a giant before, including in Newt's trunk, so this was a rare opportunity.

"I understand your good intentions, but... no." Hagrid thought for a moment, then shook his head, "He doesn't know how strong he is, and he might hurt you. I can't let you take that risk."

As he spoke, Hagrid turned his head slightly and glanced at a rope placed next to the cabin.

"As you can see," Hagrid explained, "I had to tie Grawp up to prevent him from running around in the Forbidden Forest and getting into any danger, but this rope wasn't strong enough, so I got a thicker one.

"Now you understand how terrifying the power of a pure-blooded giant is. He might be able to break a few of your bones with just a slight touch."

Kyle actually didn't care about Hagrid's worries. As a wizard who always came into contact with various dangerous magical creatures, it was not easy for the giant to touch him.

But Hagrid didn't seem to think so, and he was still unwilling to take Kyle to see Grawp.

There was nothing Kyle could do about it. The Forbidden Forest was so big that no one could find Grawp without Hagrid leading the way, even though he was an eye-catching giant.

Although it was a bit unethical, Kyle couldn't help but think that if he had known earlier, he would have given Fudge advice a few days later. Maybe in a few days, Hagrid would not be able to help but tell him the place.

But it's no use saying this now, Hagrid is still very firm in his attitude towards some things... By noon, Kyle returned to the castle somewhat disappointed.

As the vacation went on, the weather became brighter and brighter. The warm breeze blowing on people's bodies made people drowsy, but most people couldn't sleep. They had to force themselves to stay in the house to do their homework, review their lessons, and run to the library again and again.

In this case, even if the Dementors came, they would probably have to go back hungry.

It wasn't until the end of the holiday that something different finally appeared in the castle.

There was a pile of pamphlets, flyers and notices about various wizarding professions on the table in the Hufflepuff common room, and there was also a notice on the notice board...

"Career guidance?"

Kyle looked at Professor McGonagall in front of him and asked, "What does this mean?"

"It's very simple. It's just to provide some advice to the fifth-year students and tell them what jobs are suitable for them." Professor McGonagall handed a booklet to Kyle. "When they reach the sixth grade, they can choose courses according to their own intentions."

"Wait..." Kyle held up the booklet, "But why didn't I have this when I was in fifth grade?"

"Because including the headmaster, we all agree that you don't need to participate in this..." Professor McGonagall said without raising her head: "Of course, if you insist, it's not too late now."

"Okay, no thanks." Kyle said, "Then why did you call me here, Professor?"

"Of course I'm here to help." Professor McGonagall sorted out the booklets on the table, "Every year there are many students who want to work in the Ministry of Magic, and as the Senior Assistant Minister of the Ministry of Magic, it is your responsibility to provide them with some advice.

"Didn't you apply for help a few days ago?"

"When did I say I wanted to help..." Kyle paused suddenly, looking at Professor McGonagall's half-smile, he wisely shut his mouth.

Yes, a few days ago, in order to avoid doing his homework, he did make an excuse for himself to do a practical activity in the name of the Ministry of Magic.

No wonder Professor McGonagall signed so readily, it turns out it was because of this.

"Well, when," Kyle said.

"Now," said Professor McGonagall.

“So soon?” Kyle said, “Don’t we need to let them think about what they want to do first? The notice was just posted this morning, and many people probably haven’t finished reading these brochures yet.”

"It doesn't matter. The times are staggered." Professor McGonagall said, "Most people's guidance is after the holidays, but some people want to ask about things they are interested in sooner..."

Just as Professor McGonagall finished speaking, someone knocked on the office door.

The person who came was a fifth-year Gryffindor girl. Kyle felt that she looked familiar, but he couldn't remember her name.

She was very clear that she wanted to join the Ministry of Magic, but was wavering between the Department of Magical Accidents and Catastrophes and the Department of International Magical Cooperation.

"I suggest you choose the Department of International Magical Cooperation," said Professor McGonagall. "Your grades are very comprehensive, and you don't have any obvious weaknesses... and you can speak French, right? This just meets the requirements of the Department of International Magical Cooperation."

"Yes..." The witch nodded and said hesitantly, "But I think the Disaster Department is more challenging. I won't be bored working there."

Well, a typical Gryffindor.

Professor McGonagall did not answer immediately, but glanced at Kyle.

"In fact, the Department of International Magical Cooperation is not boring." Kyle said, "Of course, if you really want to study the Department of Disasters, you must get two NEWT certificates in Charms and Transfiguration, and the grades cannot be lower than "good", this is a hard rule.

"So I suggest you continue to study these two courses in your sixth grade."

The girl nodded excitedly, thanked him and left.

A few minutes later, another person walked in.

He was hesitating between going to St. Mungo's or the Wizarding Bank.

This had nothing to do with Kyle. While Professor McGonagall was talking, he opened the book in his hand and started reading.

To be honest, it was the first time for Kyle to know that there are so many different professions in the wizarding world.

Gringotts Cursebreaker, with exciting opportunities to work abroad, requiring proficiency in Transfiguration, Charms, and Arithmancy.

St Mungo's Healer... Potions, Herbs, Transfiguration, Charms, Defence Against the Dark Arts...

Muggle liaison officer... There are no special requirements for this, just a Muggle Studies certificate is enough.

Besides this, there are some more interesting ones.

Fungus cultivation industry

Owl keeper Broomstick tester

Magic Potion Appraiser

Training troll security

There are all kinds of professions, and Kyle even found a brochure for the Fire Dragon Sanctuary.

There are dozens of lifelike fire dragons and a wizard riding a flying broom painted on it.

“Are you looking for a challenging job? Do you want to touch and conquer the most powerful creatures? Fly in the sky with them and experience different scenery? If you think you have enough strength, then come and join us…”

I have to say, this brochure is indeed very attractive. Kyle doubts whether Charlie decided to go to Romania after reading this.
