Chapter 681 Resurrection Stone

"Severus, I think you must have forgotten what just happened, right?"

Dumbledore got up from the ground as if nothing had happened, dusted himself off, and asked nonchalantly.

Who could have thought that the headmaster of Hogwarts, the most powerful wizard in the world, would be kicked to the ground by his own professor, and his face hit the ground. If this matter were to get out, he would be completely disgraced.

Dumbledore didn't know about others, but he was sure that Doge MacPhail would be so excited that he would tremble all over. If he knew it, it meant that the whole wizarding world knew it.

In order to prevent this from happening, Dumbledore even had the thought of silencing the witness.

Well... it's very quiet here, away from the world, and it has all the furniture you need. It's very suitable for Snape, a guilty man, to live here for a long time, and no one can be sure to find him.

On the other side, Snape was still feeling the slight touch left on the sole of his shoe... He didn't notice it just now, but now that he saw Dumbledore's appearance, why did he feel so comfortable?

It was like stepping into a stream filled with elixir and phoenix tears. An indescribable feeling of comfort and satisfaction spread from the soles of the feet to every corner of the body.

Snape wished desperately that he knew some magic that could preserve this feeling forever.

"Severus..."

Dumbledore shouted again, and Snape finally came to his senses. He vaguely felt a cold wind blowing past him.

It’s really strange. He clearly closed the door just now, so why is there still wind?

"I'm sorry, the situation is urgent, I can only do this."

Snape said seriously: "That ring carries a terrible curse. Even a wizard as powerful as you may not be able to prevent the harm it brings."

"I understand, Severus, you want to save me, and for that I must thank you." Dumbledore dusted himself off and walked over.

The two of them tacitly did not mention what had just happened.

At this moment, Dumbledore once again looked at the ring, and a trace of pain and struggle flashed in his clear blue eyes.

"So what is this thing?" Snape couldn't help but ask.

"The Peverell family ring," said Dumbledore.

"The Peverell family... the three brothers who got the Deathly Hallows in that story collection?" Snape said subconsciously, "It's just a ring from an ancient family. No matter how famous it is, it shouldn't make you lose your composure like this..."

Suddenly, he seemed to have thought of something and looked at the ring in disbelief.

"It seems you have guessed it." Dumbledore said calmly, "This should be the legendary Deathly Hallows, the Resurrection Stone that can bring people back to life."

In an instant, Snape's breathing also became heavy, and his hand stretched out unconsciously, as if trying to grab the ring.

Dumbledore's legs moved beneath his robes, but he did not extend them.

He simply waved his wand, and the ring on the table disappeared in an instant.

Snape's hand stopped in mid-air, and he almost growled, "Where did you put it!"

"Remember what you said just now?" Dumbledore said calmly, "There is a curse on it. Tom used it to protect the Horcrux."

"I don't care." Snape roared, "The curse only happens once, and I'll take it. You don't have to worry about it anymore. Isn't that good?"

"I know what you're thinking, but Lily is already dead, and the Resurrection Stone can't really bring her back to life."

"Also, have you thought about Connor?" Dumbledore glanced at him calmly. "I remember that the child is about to take the assessment of the Extraordinary Pharmacist Association."

After a moment, Snape's voice gradually calmed down.

"Maybe she can live well without me."

"I believe it," Dumbledore said with a smile, "Kyle is a very good boy, and together they are..."

"Shut up!" Snape growled again, interrupting Dumbledore's words.

For some reason, he suddenly didn't want to touch the cursed stone.

"You should try to accept this, Severus." Dumbledore persuaded earnestly: "They are really a good match, and I must remind you that it is useless even if you object. You should know this."

"If you mention this again, I will publish the story of you lying on the ground in the Daily Prophet." Snape said coldly.

At this point, Dumbledore also shut up, and the old Gaunt house suddenly fell into an eerie silence.

I don't know how long it was before Snape broke the silence.

"Okay...how did you wake yourself up?" he asked. "I noticed that your hand paused at the critical moment. If it wasn't for this, I wouldn't have been able to get there in time."

"This is the most magical part." Dumbledore stretched out his arm and looked at the bloodstains that had not yet faded, his eyes gradually becoming complicated.

"I never thought that the promise I made would allow me to escape."

"What on earth is this?" Snape couldn't help but ask. He always thought that those injuries were caused by a curse.

"A magical contract," Dumbledore explained. "It restricts me from using the Horcrux. It is because of this restriction that I cannot touch the Resurrection Stone, because it is also Tom's Horcrux."

"You knew that the Dark Lord would make the Resurrection Stone into a Horcrux?" Snape frowned and said, "This is the backup plan you left for yourself before coming here."

"No, I don't know." Dumbledore shook his head. "And this magic contract existed a year ago. If it weren't for what happened today, I would have almost forgotten its existence."

"A year ago?" Snape was even more confused.

Who would make a magic contract for themselves for fun... Dumbledore doesn't look like a brainless idiot.

"It was Kyle..." Dumbledore said suddenly, "He has the other half of the contract. He was also the first to propose this contract."

"Wait, what does this have to do with him?" Snape didn't expect to hear that annoying name here, and asked in confusion: "But didn't you just say that this contract works on Horcruxes?"

"Kyle has the Horcrux," Dumbledore said calmly. "Legend has it that Slytherin's locket is in his hand."

Snape blinked and took ten seconds to try to comprehend what Dumbledore meant.

Ten seconds later...

"How dare you hand over something as dangerous as a Horcrux to a student!" Veins bulged on Snape's neck and his voice was so loud that it shook the dust off the ceiling.

"What if there is a curse on it... What if someone accidentally touches it? What on earth would you think?!"

Looking at Snape's expression, he even wanted to go up and kick Dumbledore again.

"Don't worry, Severus, don't be nervous." Dumbledore said quickly: "I have checked, there is no curse on the Horcrux, nor any other bad magic. It will not threaten Connor, I promise."

Dumbledore got the point sharply.

"That's better." After hearing that Connor would not be involved, Snape finally calmed down a little. As for what would happen if Kyle took the Horcrux... who cares.

"So you originally wanted to use this magical contract to restrain Kyle, right?" Snape sneered, "How interesting! I didn't expect it to save your life in the end."

"It is indeed very interesting," said Dumbledore, "but I must say that this was Kyle's own idea. I never thought of using magic to restrain him."

"You mean, he already knew that the Resurrection Stone would be made into a Horcrux?" Snape's voice rose slightly.

"I guess, I don't know..." Dumbledore looked at his arm again and said softly, but no one knew what he was thinking.

After getting the ring, the two left the Gaunt mansion. Dumbledore waved his wand, and the vines that had been separated before climbed back onto the house.

Then the trees closed in, hiding the Gaunt house again, and it looked no different than before.

"It will certainly be destroyed," said Dumbledore.

There is no doubt that the Horcruxes cannot be kept, but he did not mention how to do it specifically or when to destroy the Resurrection Stone.

Fiendfyre is the simplest way, but both Dumbledore and Snape seemed to have forgotten this magic and no one mentioned it.

"I have some other things to do." Dumbledore looked up at the thick clouds in the sky and asked, "Are you going to continue following me, or go back to Hogwarts?"

"Where are you going?"

"Maybe, let's go to Devon first," said Dumbledore.

"I have classes in the afternoon." Snape glanced at him, as if he wanted to say something, but finally stopped and said, "Don't touch that curse, or you'll be dead."

"Ah, I know." Dumbledore said calmly, "And even if I wanted to do that, there is no way. I can't remove the restrictions of the magic contract by myself."

Snape said nothing.

A gust of wind blew, and the hedges on both sides swayed in the wind, dropping a few leaves, and the two people disappeared from the dirt road.

Snape Apparated to Hogsmeade. Without stopping, he hurried back to the school and pulled Kyle out of the greenhouse.

"Professor, what are you doing..." Kyle muttered, "The exam is coming up soon, and Poison Tentacles is a very important course."

Snape didn't care about that. He walked to a place far away from the greenhouse and asked coldly, "Where is Slytherin's locket? Hand it over!"

"What?" Kyle blinked.

"Don't play dumb." Snape narrowed his eyes, "I know you have that thing, now give it to me.

"As the Head of Slytherin, I have the right to keep what Mr. Salazar left behind."

Kyle turned his head and whispered, "Then you should go find Professor Dumbledore..."

"Are you trying to say that you gave that thing to the headmaster?" Snape sneered. "Coincidentally, it was he who told me that the locket was with you."

Kyle stopped talking, he didn't expect Dumbledore to be such a big mouth, telling everything. That was Slytherin's locket, how could he tell Snape... What's the difference between this and going to see Fang with a piece of steak in his pocket.

"Hand it over quickly." Snape stretched out his hand.

"I'm sorry, Professor..." Kyle said calmly, "It's not that I don't want to part with it, but the locket really isn't with me. I gave it away."

"Send it to someone?" Snape seemed to have thought of something, and his voice suddenly became sharp. "Damn it, don't you know how dangerous that thing is!"

"That's why I gave it to someone else." Kyle said, "After all, in the wizarding world, Nicolas Flamel is the only one who can solve the problem of the locket without destroying it."

"Nicolas Flamel?" Snape was slightly stunned, and said subconsciously: "So you didn't give the locket to..."

Having said this, he suddenly shut his mouth.

"Ah, for whom?" Kyle asked.

"Shut up, five points from Hufflepuff," said Snape.

However, after learning that the Horcrux was not currently in the school, he breathed a sigh of relief and returned to the castle on his own, leaving Kyle alone.

He couldn't help but glance at a window at the top of the castle...Dumbledore is back? Or did Snape go to find him? And, judging from Snape's tone just now, he seemed to have seen the Horcrux.

If you think about it carefully, it seems that the only Horcrux that has not been found yet is the Resurrection Stone.

The main reason was that he really didn't know where the thing was. There was no record of the Gaunt house in either the Hogwarts library or Sirius's private collection.

He even asked Dumbledore indirectly, but the other party seemed to have no idea either.

Kyle frowned.

Could it be that Dumbledore left school this time just to look for that stone?

And that Bob Ogden…seems to be a key figure as well.

Kyle glanced at his arm... He didn't know if the magic contract he had made before would be useful, but it should be able to help a little...

It's a pity that Dumbledore hasn't returned yet.

Kyle shook his head, not thinking about it anymore, and prepared to go back to the greenhouse to continue his class.

However, Snape suddenly mentioned Slytherin's locket today, which made him subconsciously think of Ravenclaw's diadem again.

Since he last returned to Hogwarts from Nicolas Flamel, this only repaired Horcrux, along with the magical crown that contained part of Ravenclaw's consciousness, had disappeared.

Also gone was the ghostly Grey Lady, aka Helena Ravenclaw.

They seemed to have hidden in a corner of the castle, enjoying their long-lost world of two. After all, the mother and daughter had not seen each other for more than a thousand years, so naturally they had a lot to talk about.

Kyle tried to find them, but to no avail.

Previously, Ms. Grey's name would appear on the Marauder's Map like other ghosts, but now it has disappeared.

Kyle also wondered if they were hiding in the Room of Requirement, but when Harry and the others were holding a DA meeting, the Room of Requirement was still usable normally.

Of course, it is not ruled out that there are more hidden rooms there. After all, even the Room of Requirement was built by Ravenclaw, so it would be too easy for her to leave a back door for herself.

If that was the case, Kyle would not be able to find them.

When Kyle returned to the greenhouse, Professor Sprout was telling everyone to wear dragon-hide gloves.

"Poison tentacles are very dangerous plants. Although what we saw were only seedlings and being pricked by them would not be fatal, it is enough to keep you in the school hospital for a month... If you miss the exam by then, don't blame me for not reminding you."

This is also the reason why the poisonous tentacles are placed in the sixth grade, because there are no particularly important exams in the sixth grade, and it will not be a big problem even if you miss it.

Kyle opened the door and returned to his original seat after getting Professor Sprout's consent.

Connor next to him asked curiously, "What does Professor Snape want to see you for?"

Mikel and Ryan also looked over.

Snape had just barged in aggressively, scaring them. Some people even speculated that Kyle had blew up his private storage room, and he came to settle the score with him after being discovered.

"Nothing." Kyle shook his head. "He wanted to ask me for Slytherin's locket."

“Slytherin’s snuff box?” Mickle blinked. “What is that?”

"Stupid, it's a locket!" Ryan corrected, "It's something left behind by the four giants in the legend. Each college has one. Gryffindor's is an indestructible sword, Ravenclaw's is a crown that can bring wisdom to people, and as for us Hufflepuffs, it's a golden cup.

"But these things have been lost for centuries, and no one has ever really seen them."

"How cool..." Mikel's eyes lit up, and then he looked at Kyle in confusion and asked, "But if that's the case, why did he come to you for it?"

"Who knows..." Kyle put on his dragonhide gloves and shrugged, "Maybe someone told him something."

"That person must be trying to frame you." Mikel said angrily, "It's really bad."

"Yes, I think so too." Kyle nodded in agreement.
