Chapter 723 The second undercover?

Kyle was not in a hurry to go back to school. Since he was already there, he stopped by the Three Broomsticks to buy some drinks that were not available at school.

A bucket of butterbeer, a bottle of pumpkin soda, and two bottles of Connor's favorite cherry soda.

Kyle ordered and waited nearby.

Although it was not a visiting day, there were still a lot of people coming to the Three Broomsticks. The bar was packed and there was no empty seat at all.

Not far away, two wizards were drinking and complaining about their current situation.

From their conversation, it can be heard that they have recently been afraid to go to the Leaky Cauldron, so they chose the Three Broomsticks which is closer to Hogwarts.

It seemed to be generally believed that Voldemort and the Death Eaters would not dare to go near where Dumbledore was.

But this is indeed the fact. At least so far, Kyle has not heard of anyone missing or killed by Death Eaters near Hogsmeade. It is understandable that they would choose to come here to drink and have fun.

"This is what you want..."

Soon, Madam Rosmerta returned, and the eyes of most wizards in the bar followed her, and they would occasionally giggle and drink a full glass of wine in one gulp.

This is the second benefit of coming to the Three Broomsticks. Looking at the beautiful and charming boss, Ms. Rosmerta, is much better than facing the old and ugly Hunchback Tom. I can even drink two more glasses of wine.

"Rosmerta, another pint of mead!" someone shouted. "Hurry up!"

"Wait!" Madam Rosmerta shouted impatiently, then looked at Kyle.

"Here's what you asked for." She handed over a few packed bottles. "I wish the Hogwarts visit day could come sooner, then I wouldn't have to deal with these boring people."

"They are all guests..." Kyle said with a smile, "They are here to see Garlon off."

"Ha, they are just a bunch of cowards who don't dare to face the Death Eaters and just want to escape." Madam Rosmerta curled her lips and said in a low voice: "Such a big thing just happened in the Ministry of Magic. Who of those capable wizards would come to drink at this time?"

"Of course, I'm not talking about you." Madam Rosmerta added, "It is also a kind of courage to run away from Hogwarts at this time, although I personally do not advocate such behavior."

"You just mentioned the Ministry of Magic, what happened?" Kyle asked with a blink, not paying any attention to the second half of her sentence.

"You'll find out tomorrow."

Madam Rosmerta didn't seem to want to reveal too much to Kyle. "Then you'll be glad that you stayed in Hogwarts. It's probably the safest place right now. With Dumbledore here, no Death Eater dares to break in."

"All right," Madam Rosmerta said, raising her voice. "Go back quickly before it gets dark."

After saying that, she took out a bottle of mead and threw it to the group of wizards who were still arguing.

The bottle flew swaying in the air and was caught by a wizard.

"Hey, that's the drink I ordered!"

"I got it first, you can ask for it later..."

There was a loud quarrel in the bar, but by then Kyle had walked out of the bar and was back on the streets of Hogsmeade.

He walked along the path to the school, passed through the gate with a warthog carved on it, and walked along the grounds beside the Black Lake to the front of Hogwarts Castle.

It was almost time for dinner, and a few playful junior wizards were hurrying into the castle.

Filch, as usual, stood at the door with a strange-looking instrument, checking every student who passed by.

It is an instrument for checking dark magic items. If someone carries something dangerous, the instrument will emit a shrill alarm.

"Where have you been and why are you back so late!" Filch asked in a vicious tone when it was Kell's turn.

But he didn't poke Kyle with the instrument as he did with the others. He just checked him normally.

In fact, it's not just Kyle, every seventh-grade student can enjoy different treatments from him.

Filch was not stupid. He knew very well that these seventh-year students who were about to graduate were different from others. They were fearless and had the least respect for school rules and professors. If they were angered, they might really be beaten up.

As for why Filch knew all this, of course it was because he had similar experiences, and more than once.

"Ah, I went to Hagrid's," Kyle said calmly.

"Hagrid..." Filch sneered disdainfully.

He looked down on Hagrid and thought he was just a stupid big guy, but Hagrid also called Filch an old git, and the two of them disliked each other.

"Have you finished the inspection?" Kyle urged, "I'm still going to have dinner."

Filch glanced at the instrument that showed no response. "Go in, but I'll ask Hagrid later. If I find out you've lied... expect to be put in detention."

"Suit yourself." Kyle shrugged indifferently. He believed that Hagrid would cover up the lie for him even though they had not communicated in advance.

Kyle first went back to the common room and found a notebook he had written in the drawer of the table.

Because I haven't used it for a long time, there is a layer of dust on the notebook, but this is easy to solve. A simple cleaning magic can do it.

When Kyle arrived at the auditorium, dinner had already begun. The auditorium was full of people. Everyone was chatting with each other and no one noticed him.

Kyle glanced in the direction of the teachers' seats, and as expected, Dumbledore was not there.

"Where have you been?" After Kyle came to his seat and sat down, Connor couldn't help asking: "I heard from Hermione that you met Dumbledore's phoenix."

"Did it spread so quickly?" Kyle asked as he ate a piece of jam tart. "I thought they would keep it a secret."

"Hermione only told me." Connor said, "She seemed very curious about why Dumbledore wanted to see you."

"Ms. Bones from the Law Enforcement Department was attacked by Death Eaters." Kyle lowered his voice and said, "Dumbledore needs to use the basilisk's special petrification ability to stabilize her injuries."

"Bones..." Connor thought for a moment, "Does Susan know?"

"She probably doesn't know yet," Kyle said, "but she should know tomorrow."

Susan Bones, a witch in the sixth year of Hufflepuff, and Amelia Bones is her aunt.

On the train to the start of school, Slughorn also invited her, but she just stayed in the corner and didn't say much.

Connor sighed, "First it was Hannah, and now even Susan... I really don't know if she will leave Hogwarts too."

Hannah was taken away by her family a few days ago and has not returned since.

"Don't worry, it'll be fine." Kyle comforted her and took out the cherry soda he had just bought. "Here, this is for you."

"You went to the Three Broomsticks?"

"Yeah, I just happened to pass by on my way back."

Half an hour later, dinner was over and everyone started to return to their respective common rooms.

Kyle found Harry and Hermione at the door of the Great Hall, who were about to go upstairs.

"You're back so soon?" Harry was surprised to see Kyle here. He and Hermione both felt that something big must have happened in the Order of the Phoenix, and Kyle would not be back until at least tomorrow.

"I'll be back when I'm done." Kyle didn't explain too much, just took out the notebook and handed it over.

"Is this the Potions class note you were talking about?"

"Yeah." Kyle said, "You can take a look if you have nothing to do. I think it's still very useful."

Harry flipped open the notes curiously, and Hermione couldn't help but lean over.

"Wait a minute Harry, there's something wrong with this notebook." Hermione suddenly grabbed Harry's hand as he was about to turn the page.

"Look here..." She pointed to a line of words, "Use the side of a silver dagger to squeeze the beans to extract the juice... I remember it should be sliced."

"Yes, is it?" Harry blinked blankly.

To be honest, he had no idea whether it said slice or squeeze, but since Hermione had said it, it must be correct since she had nearly memorized the whole book.

This is also Hermione's basic operation. Every time school starts, she has to memorize the new textbook. Harry and Ron are used to it.

"And here..." Hermione pointed to several other places again.

"The textbook says to stir counterclockwise, but here it says to stir counterclockwise seven times and then stir clockwise."

"The roots should be cut into even-sized chunks, not strips, and they don't need to be pre-toasted..."

Hermione frowned. The more she read, the more she felt that the notebook was filled with errors. It was completely different from what was in the book.

It's like someone just took a nap in class and wrote something perfunctorily in the last minute before get out of class ended.

If Kyle hadn't brought the notes, she wouldn't even look at them a second time.

"Like I said before." Kyle waved his hand, "The content here is different from the book, you don't have to worry about it.

“And we can guarantee that there will be no problem at all if you follow the steps in the notes, and it will even be easier and more convenient.”

"But that's not what the book says," Hermione insisted.

"The last revision of Advanced Potion Making was thirty years ago." Kyle glanced at Hermione, "You can't expect everyone to follow the steps of thirty years ago step by step without any innovation. This is impossible.

"If you don't believe me, you can go ask Professor Slughorn. I guarantee that he doesn't follow the steps in the book when brewing potions."

"Yes, Hermione." Harry whispered, "Remember, you pointed out two mistakes in Professor Slughorn's lecture last class? But as a potion master, how could he get the stirring times wrong?"

"But he gave me extra points," said Hermione. "You know, ten extra points."

"Ah, that's right." Harry thought for a moment and said carefully, "Do you think it's possible that he just... um, rewarded you for previewing your lessons in advance?"

But Hermione just turned around and glared at Harry, and he immediately stopped talking. After all, he still had to rely on Hermione to hand in his homework on time, so he naturally didn't dare to offend her.

But Kyle didn't have that worry.

"Hermione, I believe the contents of the book are correct, but it is only a reference."

"Memorizing what's in the book may get you an 'O' on the test, but if you want to go further, you have to have your own understanding."

Hermione said nothing.

"Look here, about the method of dealing with grassroots...it was discovered by Kanna." Kyle pointed to another passage in the notes.

“The benefit of doing this is that it saves ten minutes of time, because the grass roots can react with the medicine more easily after being baked, and they are also more stable, thus reducing the possibility of errors... At least my roommate Mikel has never made any mistakes in this step after learning this little trick.

"At the same time, this discovery also gave her a lot of extra points in the assessment of the Extraordinary Pharmacist Association."

Hermione lowered her head, not knowing what she was thinking.

Kyle also knew that this was her personality, and it had been like this for more than ten years. It was not something that could be changed by just a few words from him, so he did not explain too much.

"Okay, I've lent you the notes. It's up to you to decide whether or not to use them as a reference."

After saying that, Kyle turned and left.

Harry glanced at Hermione stealthily, then calmly put the notebook into his pocket, his intuition telling him that it would definitely be useful.

Anyway, he couldn't operate well according to the contents of the book, and now there is another way, why not give it a try.

On the other hand, Kyle quickly forgot about the matter after returning to the common room. He gave the notes to Harry just for convenience. He already knew the stuff anyway, so there was no point in keeping it.

In the common room, Susan Bones was sitting in an armchair crying silently, probably because she had received a letter from home.

However, judging from the fact that she was still in the common room, the Bones family didn't seem to have any intention of taking her away.

But think about it, Amelia Bones was almost killed in the Ministry of Magic, under the protection of so many Aurors, let alone other places.

The only place safer than the Ministry of Magic is Hogwarts.

Not to mention Dumbledore, Professor McGonagall and Professor Flitwick are equally famous in the wizarding world. Even if more Death Eaters come, they can protect the students' safety.

I don’t know how many people are trying hard to get into Hogwarts now. This can be seen from the bustling Hogsmeade village. And this is only temporary. More people will definitely come in later.

Not too long, probably after the Daily Prophet reported the news about Amelia Bones.

By then, those students who dropped out of school and went home should also come back, if their parents are not fools.

Of course, those who choose to go to other countries to avoid the limelight are not counted, such as Midgen, a sixth-grader. Her father dropped her out of school a few days ago and picked her up in the afternoon. The whole family moved to France in the evening.

She was probably in Beauxbatons by now.

To be honest, this is also a good choice, at least it can ensure the safety of the whole family.

But most people don't want to leave.

At this time, next to Susan, Kanna and several other girls were comforting her.

Kyle looked at them, hesitating whether to say anything, but suddenly he thought of Amelia and what Dumbledore had said at the time.

He said he rushed over because he received news that the Death Eaters were targeting the Ministry of Magic.

Kyle didn't take it seriously at the time, but now he thinks about it, who gave him the message...

The only undercover agent of the Order of the Phoenix that Kyle knew was Snape.

But Snape had been attending classes at school recently and had no idea about Voldemort and the Death Eaters' plans. It was impossible for Voldemort to write to him specifically.

From this perspective, there can only be a second undercover agent.

And that person must be of certain importance to know in advance such an important plan against the Ministry of Magic.

But who?

...Malfoy?

It's possible, but not very likely.

Even if Malfoy, who is good at keeping himself safe, wanted to betray Voldemort, he would not take any actual action, let alone secretly pass the message to Dumbledore.

They will only choose to regroup when the battle situation becomes clear.

But if not Malfoy, who else could it be?

Kyle tried to recall the names of the Death Eaters, but none of them met the criteria.

There was no way it was Bellatrix who delivered the message... Kyle glanced into the common room, his eyes landing on an armchair.

If it was Bella who had delivered the message, he would eat the armchair with marmalade.
