Chapter 772: Changes in Diagon Alley

The two stood in the long-lost moonlight, and Newt still complained with a distressed look on his face that Kyle should not have destroyed such a large forest.

"This is the only way I can think of to deter werewolves." Kyle explained tirelessly, "Only by showing absolute strength can we make them give up their unrealistic fantasies.

"Didn't Professor Dumbledore also say that hatred should not continue? If werewolves appear on the battlefield this time, this idea will absolutely not be realized."

“I know what you said, but…” Newt sighed.

Of course he knew that this was the best option. It not only did not require killing all the werewolves, but it could also deter them from getting involved in the war. It could be said to be the best of both worlds, but he just felt it was a bit of a pity.

How many Bowtruckles can be supported in such a large forest?

“Forget it, it’s not Fiendfyre anyway. With the unique topography of the Black Forest, it should be able to recover soon.” Newt comforted himself.

And soon he thought of another thing. After Kyle used the expansion spell, the plants that had grown several times larger must have needed more nutrients. The thicker tree roots were like a water pump that could drain all the nutrients around them.

Even without the fire spell, the plants around that area would probably gradually die.

Whether this was the case or not, at least Newt felt a lot better.

The two walked forward for a while, and neither seemed in a hurry to go back.

"Are you really going to help Mr. Lupin push for the Werewolf Bill?" Newt asked suddenly.

"If I can, I don't mind helping a little." Kyle said, "Remus has already proved that even a werewolf can become a righteous wizard if he grows up in a normal environment. Since he can do it, there is no reason why other werewolves can't... What they lack is a guidance process."

"You should know that this is difficult," Newt said. "Wizards have a long-standing prejudice against werewolves, and it has even become an instinct. This cannot be changed by a war, even if the werewolves stand firmly on our side.

"No one wants their child to study in the same classroom with a werewolf. If I'm not mistaken, Dumbledore must have deliberately concealed Mr. Lupin's identity as a werewolf when he allowed him to enroll."

"That's true." Kyle nodded. "That's why I said the probability of the Werewolf Act passing is only one percent."

How can we just reconcile a hatred that has lasted for hundreds or thousands of years? It will definitely be a long process.

Not to mention that just a week ago, there were frequent reports of werewolves attacking wizards in the newspapers. People had long assumed that the werewolves had joined the Death Eaters, so there was actually little point in switching sides at this time.

"So..." Newt looked at Kyle, "You deliberately lied to the werewolves in order to calm them down?"

"Of course not." Kyle said, "If you just want to solve the threat of werewolves, wouldn't it be faster to just kill them? Under the circumstances at the time, killing them was easier than drinking water. Why bother?"

"So do you really want to help them?" Newt continued to ask.

“I don’t think so.” Kyle looked back in the direction of the Black Forest. Faintly, he seemed to be able to see those glowing eyes in the forest.

"After all, if we want the majority to agree to this Werewolf Bill, the key person who can play a key role is not Lupin, nor me, nor the Minister of Magic, but the werewolves themselves. Everything they do directly affects the decision of the majority, and this variable is too big.

"So I won't do anything deliberately like Remus Lupin did, because it may take several years, or even more than ten years, and I don't want to waste my time on this. But I don't mind helping him a little within my ability."

“Really?” Newt said meaningfully. “Do you think so?”

"Yeah." Kyle nodded, "At least that's what I think now."

“Very smart,” Newt said.

The two came to a hillside outside the Black Forest.

"What about the werewolf in Knockturn Alley?" Kyle asked.

"What's his character like?"

"Not very good." Kyle said, "According to what Cat-Cat told me, that werewolf is the most like Fenrir Greyback. He enjoys biting people, and he would go find some fun even if it is not a full moon night. That's why the Death Eaters arranged him in the more important Knockturn Alley instead of throwing him in the Black Forest like garbage waiting for orders.

"So far, in just one month, he has bitten five people, three wizards and two Muggles.

"This is only what Yorman knows, and he has been in the Black Forest for a long time. There may be much more he doesn't know."

"Hmm...what do you think?" Newt asked after a moment's silence.

"There's nothing to do anyway, let's go and take a look." Kyle thought for a moment and said, "If possible, you can also help Lupin a little."

"Then I'll listen to you." Newt said with a smile, as if he just regarded himself as a pendant and completely forgot that it was he who brought Kyle to the Black Forest.

A few minutes later, London.

Accompanied by a crisp crackling sound, two figures appeared on a street one after the other.

Because it was already very late, there was no one on the street and almost all the shops were closed. Only in the middle of the street, a shabby sign was still flashing with a flickering light, which looked like it had poor contact.

Kyle and Newt pushed the door open and walked in.

To be honest, he had never seen the Leaky Cauldron so quiet, with no one inside.

Tom, the bar owner, was wiping glasses idly behind the counter. When he saw someone coming in, he stood up quickly.

"Oh, Kyle..." Tom said happily, not recognizing Newt. "You should have graduated. Would you like something to drink? How about butterbeer, or do you prefer fire whiskey?"

"Next time, Tom, we have other things to do," Kyle said.

It was visibly that Tom's expression changed from surprise to disappointment, and he sat back behind the counter dejectedly.

"What happened here? Why is there no one here?" Kyle asked curiously.

The news of Voldemort's comeback has been around for a while. Even when the situation was at its worst, people didn't dare to come to the Leaky Cauldron.

"Don't you know?" Tom looked up at Kyle in confusion, and then explained: "Yesterday, a Dark Mark appeared over Dagoniers' shop in Diagon Alley. Including her, a total of three employees were killed."

Dagoniers? Kyle thought about it and found that he had no impression of this name at all. But this was normal. There were so many shops in Diagon Alley, and he couldn't possibly know every owner.

The most important thing now is the news that Tom said... The Death Eaters have set their sights on Diagon Alley and killed the owner of a shop.

"Is there anything special about that Dagoniers?" Kyle continued to ask.

"Nothing special." Tom continued to wipe the cup without looking up. "She's just an ordinary wizard. If I must say, her shop for transforming Muggle items is doing pretty good business. There are many young Muggle-born wizards who often patronize it."

"Why did the Death Eaters want to kill her."

"I don't know, and they never need a reason." Tom raised his head again, "Go back if you have nothing else."

“I will,” Kyle said, and he and Newt headed toward the backyard.

The two entered Diagon Alley through the entrance.

It was as deserted here as the Leaky Cauldron. There was no one on the long street. The doors of the shops on both sides were locked, and some even had thick curtains drawn, so not a single light could be seen.

But in this situation, there was one store that seemed out of place with the surroundings. Not only did it not close, but it turned on all the lights. The colorful light balls were spinning rapidly at the door, and from a distance it looked like a grand party was being held.

Kyle knew which store it was without even looking at the sign.

Aside from Fred and George's Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes, there's no other shop in Diagon Alley as rebellious.

There was no customer in the store. When Kyle pushed the door and walked in, the bell hanging on the door made a clear and pleasant sound.

"Welcome?"

"Oh, Fred, look who's here!" George poked his head out from upstairs and said in surprise.

A moment later, Fred also ran over.

"Kyle, and Mr. Scamander." He came over excitedly, "Are you done with your work?"

"Our pleasure," said Fred seriously.

"What's going on now?" Kyle asked.

"Before that." Fred's face became more serious and he took out his wand. "Please prove to me that you are the real one and not a fake one who used Polyjuice Potion."

"Hmm..." Kyle thought for a moment, "When you were seven, you tried to trick Ron into signing an unbreakable vow, and Mr. Weasley hung you up and flogged you for three hours. And when you were nine, you poured half a can into Percy's lunch on the train..."

"stop!"

"Shut up, don't say any more."

"We know you're real!"

The two men hurried forward and stopped Kyle from continuing.

This is very telling now, after all, the Death Eaters have no idea what they did more than a decade ago.

"Can you tell me now? What exactly happened?" Kyle asked again.

"Just as you saw," said Fred. "The Death Eaters wanted to regain their former glory and make everyone afraid of them, so they chose to attack Diagon Alley."

"They did." George brought Newt a cup of hot cocoa. "We haven't sold a single Nutter product since yesterday afternoon."

"Where's mine?" Kyle said dissatisfiedly as he watched his actions.

"Your what?"

"Hot cocoa."

"What hot cocoa? Oh, you mean this?" George said calmly, "This is a treat for first-time customers. For you... 10 Sickles per cup, thank you."

"Ten Sickles?" Kyle raised an eyebrow. "Three brooms only make eight Sickles."

"Then you can go ahead." Fred gestured to see him off.

"It's really dark here." Kyle pouted, but still took out a gold coin, "Change."

"Thank you." George accepted the Galleon cheerfully. "If you add nine Sickles, you can get a beef pie. How about that? That's a good deal."

"Okay." Kyle also felt a little hungry at this time.

Soon, the pie was brought, and even Newt got one, without being charged.

Kyle took a bite and it tasted exactly like the ones Mrs. Weasley often made. It was obvious that these two guys were making money out of nothing.

But Fred and George didn't care about that, nor did they care what Kyle thought, and happily put the Galleon into the cash box.

"It's great that we finally opened today."

While Kyle and Newt were eating their pie, Fred walked over and closed the door of the shop, and placed an exquisite looking glass on the shelf next to it.

"This is our new product. If someone around you has bad intentions towards you, the mirror will vibrate." George explained, "So what are you going to do next?"

"Let's go to Knockturn Alley." Kyle finished his pie and took another sip of hot cocoa. "Remember what I said before? There's a werewolf there. We have to go get rid of this trouble."

"Werewolf?" Fred frowned. "Is there anything we can do to help?"

"Yes." Kyle said, "Give me another piece of pie. I'm a little hungry."

"I can't help you." George shrugged.

"We only brought two pieces as a midnight snack," said Fred. "If you are not in a hurry, go to Grimmauld Place first. Mom will be very happy."

"Forget it, let's talk about it after this matter is resolved." Kyle waved his hand, "What about the Order of the Phoenix? Have they taken any action?"

"Yes, transfer Harry." Fred lowered his voice, "We plan to pick Harry up from Little Whinging tomorrow."

"How do I connect?" Kyle asked. "It's best not to use the Floo Network. Death Eaters attacked the Ministry of Magic's Transportation Department before. I'm worried about what they might have done."

"Don't worry, that won't happen," George said. "We plan to use Apparition."

"Speaking of which, you have to watch out for Pierce Thicknesse at the Ministry of Magic."

"Thickness..." Kyle thought for a moment, "The acting director of the Law Enforcement Department?"

"Yes, that's him."

"Two days ago, Thicknesse wanted to make Apparition illegal, saying it was to protect Harry from being caught by You-Know-Who."

"But we all know that You-Know-Who doesn't follow the laws of the Ministry of Magic."

"He just wanted to stop Harry from leaving."

Kyle nodded. Indeed, the regulations of the Ministry of Magic could not control the You-Know-Who and the Death Eaters.

"Wait, you just said 'want', what do you mean?"

"Because he failed." Fred said with a smile, "Ms. Amelia Bones, who was attacked by the Death Eaters before, woke up and insisted on returning to the Ministry of Magic from St. Mungo's."

"As the official director of the Law Enforcement Department, she rejected the proposal outright."

"That's good." Kyle said, "But we can't be careless. The Death Eaters will definitely not let it go."

"Of course we know this." George said, "Kingsley is now protecting Amelia Bones to prevent her from being attacked by Death Eaters again. As long as she is fine, the Ministry of Magic will not make a decision that favors the Death Eaters."

"Well, if you have any other questions, I can help you." Kyle put his box on the table.

"In fact, I think we can use this to take Harry away. We can use Polyjuice Potion to disguise ourselves as Muggles selling door-to-door products, and then pack up Harry and take him away as quickly as possible.

This way, even if the Death Eaters were watching from the side, it would be hard for them to notice anything."

"That's a good idea indeed." Fred stroked his chin, "Let's go back and discuss it with Dad."

"But Kyle, we're about to transfer Harry. Are you sure you can get back in time?" George asked.

"I'll try my best," Kyle said.

In fact, he was not sure when he could deal with the werewolf in Knockturn Alley. If it was fast, for example, if he encountered the target as soon as he entered, it might be dealt with in less than ten minutes.

But if the other party is good at hiding, it is normal to spend several days searching for him in a place like Knockturn Alley where all kinds of people gather.

"Then let's just use this as a backup plan for now," said Fred.

He and George put on their coats and walked out of the store with Kyle, locking the door behind them.

Kyle subconsciously looked up at the huge, glittering sign and the colorful light ball that was still spinning.

"Don't worry about them."

"Diagon Alley could always use a little livening up."

The two of them said with a smile.
