Chapter 796 Heading to the Ministry of Magic

Mr. Weasley came back in the early morning. At eight o'clock in the morning, he walked into the kitchen sleepily and took the sandwich handed to him by Bill.

"Dad, didn't you just work overtime yesterday? Why do you have to go to the Ministry of Magic so early today?"

"I can't help it. The Ministry is so short-handed lately." Mr. Weasley yawned. "It's not just me. There's also Chris, Lupin who just got married, and even Cedric who has only been working for two years. There's always a lot of work to do every day."

"But this is too busy." Fred poured him a glass of pumpkin juice. "Will the Ministry of Magic pay you overtime?"

"The Ministry of Magic's money is used to purchase potion materials needed to treat the wounded." Mr. Weasley took a sip of pumpkin juice.

"So, it's all in vain?"

"You can't say that." Mr. Weasley shook his head. "This is a job, not a business."

George curled his lips.

He knew what Mr. Weasley meant, of course, but knowing and accepting were two different things.

Of course, he wasn't really doing it for that pitiful overtime pay.

Hadn't the Ministry of Magic been claiming in the Daily Prophet that they had information on the Death Eaters' movements?

So where were the Aurors and strikers when they attacked yesterday... They waited until half an hour later, when everything was settled, before rushing over.

If Kyle hadn't used the Phoenix to rescue them, no one could guarantee how many people would be able to come back alive.

They are nowhere to be seen when we really need them, but they are very active when they are working. How can it be so easy?

George became angrier the more he thought about it.

Although he also knew that yesterday's attack was a complete emergency, it was normal that people from the Ministry of Magic could not arrive in time...including the people from the Order of the Phoenix and his father who did not come either.

But he just felt unhappy.

The same went for Fred, who also had some opinions about Amelia, the new minister.

No one can think of any other way, but you can't just use force on one person.

He remembered clearly that it was five o'clock in the morning, when he and George had just finished improving the communication coin and were preparing to go to bed. It was at that time that they heard the sound of the door opening.

That was when Mr. Weasley returned.

Only three hours have passed and I have to go to work again? This is too hasty.

However, Mr. Weasley himself didn't care much. He rubbed his forehead, quickly finished his sandwich, took a big sip of pumpkin juice, then stood up and prepared to go out.

"Wait, Mr. Weasley..." Hermione also quickly finished her breakfast, "Can I go to the Ministry of Magic with you?"

"You want to go too?"

Mr. Weasley paused. "Hermione, if it's nothing urgent, I think it would be best if you stayed here."

"It's okay, Mr. Weasley," said Hermione. "I'm not Harry or Kyle. You-Know-Who probably doesn't even know me."

"That's true, but..."

"Don't worry, Mr. Weasley. If I'm in danger, I will Apparate away in advance."

Under Hermione's gaze, Mr. Weasley hesitated for a moment, then nodded and agreed to take her to the Ministry of Magic.

Hermione has always been a witch with a strong sense of independence. Mr. Weasley felt that even if he refused, she would still go by herself, which would be more dangerous. It would be safer if he was with her.

"All right then," said Mr. Weasley, "but you must stay with me until we are in a safe place and we can Apparate there."

"No problem." Hermione nodded.

The two then left the house, along with Sirius and several other Weasley children.

Bill and Charlie had another task. They needed to patrol the area to make sure no Death Eaters were nearby.

Fred and George are going to Diagon Alley, they want to reopen the shop.

Mrs. Weasley did not look very happy and kept a straight face.

In fact, ever since the Death Eaters attacked Diagon Alley, she had not been too happy with Fred and George continuing to run their business.

Last time they were lucky and the Death Eaters were not in the store, so they could only vent their anger by destroying the store.

But what about next time... What if they go to Diagon Alley again? I'm afraid that it won't be the shop that will be destroyed, but the two of them.

So Mrs. Weasley didn't want them to open the store again.

But the Weasley brothers were determined to do so and did not want to give up their shop at all. They even had a big fight over breakfast over this matter.

Needless to say, the Weasley brothers won the argument. They succeeded in appeasing Mrs. Weasley by saying, "It is because the Death Eaters have brought shadow to the wizarding world that they want to bring joy to everyone." She also withdrew her fingers that were about to twist their ears.

In fact, they did.

The entire Diagon Alley was deserted and quiet, with only their shop being the busiest.

The colorful sign and the Weasley statue can be seen from a long distance away. The cheerful music in the store can be heard halfway across the street. It seems out of place with the surroundings, yet extremely eye-catching.

Everyone who passed by the door would have the illusion that Voldemort had not yet appeared.

This excuse successfully convinced everyone.

When they had all left, Mrs. Weasley sighed silently.

"I really shouldn't have listened to them." She muttered softly and turned and walked into the room.

At this time, only she, Kyle, and a few children who had not yet graduated were left at home.

Ron and Harry also wanted to go to the Ministry of Magic with Hermione at first, but as soon as they expressed this idea, they were ruthlessly rejected by Mrs. Weasley.

The reason is simple, they can't Apparate.

If she encountered danger, Hermione could escape at any time, but if she followed him, it would be like bringing two burdens with her. Hermione would then have to take care of them, which would slow down her escape time.

Mrs. Weasley's words were well-reasoned. Ron hesitated for a long time but could not think of any reason to refute her. In the end, he could only turn around and go upstairs in a huff to express his dissatisfaction.

It's just that Mrs. Weasley didn't care at all.

"Well, I'll go back to my room too." Kyle said, standing up from his chair five minutes later.

"Oh, go ahead," Mrs. Weasley said with a smile, "I don't have anything to do today. I'll call you when lunch is ready."

"Thank you," Kyle said.

He walked up the stairs back to his room, and as soon as he entered the door, a golden-red figure pounced on him.

Kyle seemed to have known this for a long time. He reached out and grabbed Fox's paw, then disappeared into the room.

When he appeared again, he was already in the fireplace corridor of the Ministry of Magic, behind a wizard. His feet went soft and he knocked the man out of the fireplace.

"Oh, Merlin's beard!" The other party was startled by the sudden movement and turned to look at Kyle, "Who are you and what's going on?"

"Of course I came to the Ministry of Magic through the Floo Network." Kyle rubbed his head impatiently and said, "What are you doing? If you dawdle for a while, the next person will be here."

Hearing Kyle's words, his stumbling steps, and the movement of rubbing his head, the man quickly said, "Sorry, I may have been distracted."

"Nothing, just be careful next time." Kyle took out a sour exploding candy and stuffed it into his mouth. "It's best not to linger in the fireplace of the Ministry of Magic. There are a lot of people coming and going here."

"Ah, I know." said the other.

"Kyle, I'm here." Hermione's voice came from not far away.

She had been waiting here since she followed Mr. Weasley here, and ran over immediately after seeing Kyle.

"Let's talk while we walk." Kyle led her towards the elevator.

"How did you get out of the fireplace?" Hermione asked puzzledly.

Kyle looked back and lowered his voice, "This will not easily arouse suspicion."

"But that's a fireplace. What if..."

"Nothing will happen." Kyle shook his head and said, "The fireplaces in the Ministry of Magic are different from those in other places. They are usually extinguished. Only when wizards come will the flames unique to the flying network be lit. There is no need to worry at all."

"is that so?"

"certainly."

As they were talking, the two of them had already arrived at the elevator, where many people were already waiting.

"Oh, Kyle, I was wondering when I could see you again." An old wizard greeted the two of them, "I remember you have already graduated."

"That's right," Kyle said. "I was busy with other things before and didn't have time to come to work."

"No matter how dangerous it is, it's not as dangerous as Godric's Hollow yesterday." Another witch came over.

"You have such a good relationship with Auror Remus, you must have attended his wedding."

"Of course," Kyle said.

"I heard there were seventy Death Eaters there."

"That's true, but I don't know the exact number," Kyle said. "I was rescued at that time, and I don't know what happened afterwards."

Kyle knew these people in the Ministry of Magic too well, so he naturally knew what they wanted to ask, so he simply blocked their words in advance.

Sure enough, after hearing that Kyle didn't know what happened, the witch showed obvious disappointment on her face.

"Ah... Dumbledore saved you. I heard it all from Lupin."

Just at this moment, the elevator arrived and the others rushed in, while Kyle stayed outside waiting for the next one.

A few minutes later, they finally arrived at an elevator with fewer people, and with them were three wizards holding documents.

"Kyle, it's great to see you." One of them said, "But you came at a bad time. There have been too many things going on in the department recently. I haven't slept for two days."

As he spoke, he pointed to the dark circles under his eyes.

"There's nothing I can do. I also want to be lazy, but the new minister doesn't agree." Kyle shrugged.

"That's true."

The elevator soon reached the sixth floor and the three wizards walked out together.

"We'll talk next time, Kyle."

"Who is he?" Hermione asked when the door closed again.

"Watson, from the Broomstick Management and Control Bureau, we have discussed together how to modify the Firebolt." Kyle said casually.

"You know so many people."

"This is normal," Kyle said. "To put it bluntly, the job of an assistant minister is to deal with other departments. You will become familiar with it after doing it many times."

"Where are we going?"

"The third floor," Kyle said.

"To see Mr. Weasley?"

"No, Mr. Weasley's office is on the second floor. We need to go to another department." Kyle thought for a moment, "How about your Confusion Charm."

"It's, it's OK." Hermione said, "The Confusion Charm is a seventh-year subject. I reviewed it in advance."

"That's fine, but I don't think you would be able to use this spell."

Soon, the elevator stopped.

"Third floor, Department of Magical Accidents and Catastrophes, including the Incident Reversal Team, Memory Deletion Command, and the Muggle Issues Mediation Committee."

Listening to the sound in the elevator, Hermione suddenly thought of something.

"Are you taking me to the Muggle Mediation Committee?"

"That's it." Kyle walked out of the elevator. "Don't you always think they are ineffective? The most direct way is to experience it yourself."

Kyle stepped out of the elevator and Hermione quickly followed.

This floor looked even busier than the sixth. Everyone was walking in a hurry, and both sides of the corridor were filled with various documents and sundries.

Kyle led her all the way to the back, through a heavy oak door, and into a messy, noisy open area divided into many small compartments.

They walked to the door of a small compartment on the far left, on which was hung a crooked sign: Muggle Mediation Committee.

Just at this moment, a middle-aged wizard ran out.

"Wait a minute, Perod." Kyle called him.

"Sorry, Kyle, I don't have time now." The wizard turned around and said, "Mrs. Akaba is arguing with her neighbor again about the garden. I have to rush over before she uses magic. Her forgetfulness spell is terrible."

"Don't worry, I brought you a helper."

"helper?"

Kyle nudged Hermione.

Hermione then responded, "My name is Hermione, Hermione Granger."

Perrod gave him a strange look, "Are you sure this girl wants to work here?"

Then he looked at Hermione again, "I must tell you in advance that the salary here is not high."

"It's not a job, it's a volunteer job, and she doesn't need any salary," Kyle said. "She wanted to experience life a month before school starts, so I brought her here."

"Are you sure?" Perold asked again, his voice even stranger.

"I'm sure of it!" said Hermione.

"Well, come with me."

Perhaps because of Kyle's face, or perhaps because he was too busy, Perold said nothing, and did not even check Hermione's identity. He agreed directly and ran towards the elevator with her.

Hermione glanced back at Kyle.

"Go ahead." Kyle waved his hand. "It's best to resolve it all at once. The old lady and her neighbors have had several conflicts. I'm counting on you."

Hermione went to work in a daze without even entering the office.

When the elevator door closed again, Kyle poked his head into the office.

There was an older wizard inside, sorting through a table of parchments.

He looked up at Kyle. "I heard everything. Did you find us a new employee?"

"I'm just a volunteer. I'll leave after Hogwarts starts." Kyle walked in and barely found a place to stand in the small office.

"Besides, my ambition is not here, but on the second level."

"Law Enforcement?"

"uh-huh."

"It's okay, as long as I can help."

The old wizard continued to sort out the parchment, cursing and muttering, "Those Death Eaters are really troublesome. And those idiots actually dug traps in the Muggle community, and someone even made a swamp. Do they think their neighbors can't find out anything?"

"It can't be helped. Everyone is terrified."

"But we have doubled our workload." The old wizard said angrily, "By the way, what is the ability of the student you brought here?"

"My grades are number one in the grade."

The old wizard then looked up at Kyle and said, "It looks like she does have a chance to go to the second floor."

"Okay." He stood up, pulled out a bag and threw it to Kyle.

"What's this."

"It's a reward for helping me." The old wizard said, "The salary here is not high to begin with, and even less before you start working. It's only twenty Galleons a month, but it's better than nothing."

"There's a reward?" Kyle was stunned.

“It wasn’t there before, but yesterday Hogwarts donated a large amount of herbs to St. Mungo’s, which saved the Ministry of Magic a lot of money.

"Bones wants to expand the Ministry of Magic to deal with the increasing number of Death Eaters, and someone has to do all this work, and it won't work without money."

"Is that so?" Kyle frowned. "Isn't she worried that Death Eaters might sneak in?"

"So this is a risky move. I didn't expect she would be so courageous." The old wizard said, "By the way, every newcomer must register their information. Don't forget to let that girl fill in the blanks."

"Where are you going?"

"Auror's office."
