Before heading to Gringotts, Cyrus planned to do some shopping.
He changed into another face, went into a shop, and spent some gold galleons to buy a box. Like most boxes used by wizards, this box was also cast with a traceless extension spell. The space inside the box was surprisingly large.
But in Cyrus' opinion, it's still not big enough.
He needs a wilderness, mountains, and even the sunrise and moonset.
Otherwise, he would not be able to put the fire dragon he got before into the box. In fact, up to now, the fire dragon is still kept in a mountain by Cyrus.
"I have to transform myself." Cyrus sighed.
This was not difficult for him, just troublesome. He put the matter aside, as there were obviously more important things that needed him to do.
He went to the Leaky Cauldron, found the old wizard named Tom, got a room, put the box in it, and ate something. Then he went back to Diagon Alley through the wall and walked towards Gringotts.
Gringotts is the most conspicuous building in Diagon Alley.
Apparently the goblins felt they needed to show off their financial power with gold.
Of all the shops in Diagon Alley, it is the tallest and is completely snow-white. The outer walls are probably made of white marble, and the door is made of copper, shining in the sun.
In Gringotts, even a waiter was dressed very luxuriously, and the short goblin standing at the door was wearing a scarlet uniform with gold trim, and he really looked like one.
He bowed to Cyrus as he approached, but said nothing of welcome.
The floor of Gringotts was also white and gold, which made it look not like marble but like pure white jade. After passing through the copper door, there was a second door inside. This door was silver with words engraved on both sides.
Although it was Cyrus' first time to come to Gringotts, he was already familiar with those words and did not take them to heart at all - he came here for the wealth that did not belong to him.
But on the other hand, he did have the key to Vault 12.
After passing through the silver door, there was a huge marble hall. There were almost hundreds of goblins sitting here. They were all dressed in suits and sat on high stools, which allowed them, who were short in stature, to look down on any wizard who came here.
Not looking straight at him, but looking down at him. This is clearly the arrogance of a goblin.
Cyrus thought their behavior was ridiculous.
As losers in the fight against wizards, they seemed to think that this would restore their self-esteem and that this would allow them to trample the wizards under their feet.
But on the other hand, there are so many subhuman races, centaurs, giants...
They have more powerful power than goblins, but their current life is very miserable compared to that of goblins. Their greed is despised by humans, but it actually allows them to live a good life, so that many goblins even have a sense of superiority. They look down on wizards and think they are more noble.
Facts tell us that if we want to get our rights, we must fight with blood.
And it keeps on going!
From this perspective, Cyrus actually admires them, but their positions are different. People always have double standards. As a human being and a wizard, he naturally stands from the perspective of a wizard.
"Welcome, sir—" a goblin waiter came over and half bowed.
"I'm going to Vault No. 12." Cyrus' words made the waiter, no, it should be said that all the goblins in the hall paused.
The rustling sound of the quill writing on the parchment disappeared, and the goblin who was placing the gem on the scale stopped his action. The scale tilted, and a ruby as big as a pigeon egg rolled all the way to Cyrus' feet.
The goblins exchanged glances quickly and soon returned to their previous state.
"Where are the keys, sir?"
Cyrus handed him the key to Vault 12.
The waiter handed the key to a goblin wearing a single lens who was sitting in the middle of the hall. The goblin looked a little old, with a pale beard. He looked at it carefully for a long time before he said: "The key is real, Griphook - you take him!"
Then, a goblin that Cyrus was very familiar with came out. He had a high forehead, gray hair, and was only as tall as Cyrus' waist.
As if he could see Cyrus's confusion, Griphook spoke up, "These different doors lead to different underground areas. Of course, there's only one room, but the tracks are different. The ancient vaults like Vault 12 are at the front."
The door he was leading Cyrus to was very close to the front. At this time, Cyrus noticed that several goblins were leaving in a hurry, and they glanced at Cyrus from time to time.
Griphook opened the door. The inside of the door was completely different from the magnificent Gringotts. After stepping through it, there was a huge, dark and damp underground cave. The black tracks were like a huge group of snakes entwined around the rock wall, extending to different caves.
"Get on the cart." Pull the ring waited for a cart that could slide on tracks. There were no safety measures on it. It looked like a shabby old thing used to transport goods in mines.
Every vault opened by Gringotts charges a management fee, and the goblins use that money to raise fire dragons, set up waterfalls to prevent thieves, and take adequate security measures, but they don't care at all about the experience of storing money.
The main point is that it is usable.
Cyrus and Griphook stepped onto the trolley together. A long handrail was fastened down as the only safety measure. Griphook pulled the lever and the trolley started moving on its own.
It was going so fast that the iron wheels left a cluster of sparks on the track and made a loud noise.
Cyrus felt like he was on a roller coaster and was about to be thrown out.
He felt like he had been in the car for at least ten minutes, so much so that he began to doubt how deep underground Gringotts was. He felt like he had pushed the cart for at least ten kilometers.
I'm afraid they have dug out all the underground of London.
But on second thought, it could also be a traceless extension spell. After all, Gringotts was not controlled by goblins from the beginning.
Just as he was thinking, a huge splash of water suddenly hit Cyrus in the face. Cyrus quickly lowered his head and covered his face with his hands. He could feel his wet features returning to their original handsome appearance. But fortunately, the light in the cave was very dim, and Griphook's attention was focused on the front, so he didn't notice this.
"I'm sorry, sir, this is the thief-proof waterfall, one of Gringotts's protective measures, which can wash away the power of magic." Griphook said. He didn't seem to be sorry for getting his customers wet, but rather very proud.
The thief-proof waterfall is indeed an amazing invention.
"Can any magic be washed off?" Cyrus asked as he wiped the water off his face calmly.
"What?"
"I mean, even the power of the Killing Curse will be washed away?"
Griphook shuddered and replied angrily, "No, sir. It's mainly for Transfiguration, Confusion and Imperius Curses to prevent us from being controlled by wizards with bad intentions."
He turned his head to look at Cyrus, as if he was afraid that Cyrus would do something irrational. Fortunately, Cyrus had changed his face back at this time, so he didn't notice anything wrong.
"Even magic has no absolutes, sir."
They ended their unpleasant conversation. On the way, Griphook stopped the car once to report to the goblin guarding the ancient vault before continuing on his way.
I don’t know how long it was before Griphook pulled the brake.
Cyrus felt the wheels underneath being braked, but the car was still moving forward rapidly due to inertia. The sparks from the friction between the wheels and the rails were like the tail flame of a comet.
“Sizzle——”
The sharp sound pierced the eardrums.
"arrive!"
The car stopped and Griphook jumped down, landing on a metal-supported platform.
An ancient door appeared before Cyrus's eyes.
