At this moment, Bodrick's mind was no longer filled with ancient magic, nor did he think about the wonderful life after the goblins defeated the wizards, ruled them, and enslaved the wizard women.
At this moment, he just wanted to escape from this hell!
And he did just that.
He fled for the vault entrance in a panic, and in his haste he stepped on an arm and fell.
But he had no time to get up, and had to use his hands and feet - not difficult at all for a goblin whose arms were about to drag on the ground - like a wild dog with its tail between its legs.
Bodrick was afraid that he was running too slowly, so he hurriedly took off his heavy armor while crawling.
Behind him, the goblins were still fighting.
He dared not make any sound, otherwise the goblins would realize that he was a fleeing rat, and they would immediately give up fighting with the knights and tear him to pieces instead.
He knew the cruelty of goblins better than anyone else.
He was in a miserable state, but he finally got close to the bronze door. A tragic smile appeared on Bodrick's face, and his hand reached out to the narrow metal door.
That is simply the narrow gate of salvation in the Bible.
He could even see an invisible light shining outside the door, and as long as he went through it, he would be saved.
But just as his fingertips were about to touch the door, it closed.
The smile on Bodrick's face didn't even have time to disappear. He stood there, watching the handsome wizard looking at him with a smile on his face.
The roar of mechanisms operating from within the metal door was so inconspicuous and yet so harsh amid the earth-shaking shouts and cries of killing not far away.
"Where are you going, Mr. Goblin?" Cyrus asked coldly.
The light in Bodrick went out.
"Sir, please..."
He knelt in front of Cyrus without any hesitation, with a sad pleading look on his face. He reached out and tried to grab Cyrus's trouser legs, but Cyrus took a step back.
He didn't want dirty bugs crawling on his body.
"Good night, sir." Cyrus raised his wand in the air, and Bodrick's head turned to the side uncontrollably.
“Ka——”
Its cervical vertebrae were instantly shattered into powder.
Cyrus has no sympathy whatsoever, he is not killing an innocent man, this is a war between races.
His golden pupils looked towards the battlefield in the secret vault. The goblins were already blood-thirsty, and the repair magic in the knights' bodies was constantly being consumed as the magic was repeatedly triggered.
Eventually, only one in ten of the remaining goblins remained, and their fighting spirit had been worn out. More importantly, some people had discovered that their leader had disappeared without a trace.
They lost their will to fight and began to retreat, even though the knights were already badly damaged.
The spells on many of the knights seemed to still be in effect. Their broken bodies were pieced together again and they moved forward again, but collapsed after a few steps, like a building block that had lost its support and scattered all over the ground after a piece of it was pulled out.
It was finally quiet here, the flickering light dimmed, and darkness came again.
But this time, Cyrus will light it with flames.
"Lihuo!"
He held the flame in his hand, and the erratic Liaffire lay quietly in his palm like a harmless cat.
Under the fierce fire, no matter whether it was a knight or a goblin, they could not escape the fate of being burned to ashes. Whether it was the unrecognizable body parts or the goblins struggling in the fire as if they were trying to tear their own skin apart, in the end, nothing was left.
Cyrus stepped over the flames and saw a flowing trail guiding his way forward.
This trace extends all the way to the deepest darkness and is the only guide to the real secret vault.
He walked slowly into the darkness.
On the side, countless identical white stone pillars stood, dazzling the eyes. Cyrus looked back, and the battlefield had disappeared into the darkness.
The scenery is exactly the same everywhere and it is impossible to tell them apart.
If someone cannot see the traces of ancient magic, even if they defeat the knight, they will be lost in this dark space.
But for Cyrus, it was just a maze with the right path marked.
He walked for a long time until he saw a huge three-dimensional spiral symbol. He picked up his wand and tapped it. The symbol seemed to dissolve into the ground, then immediately surged up and turned into a door.
The real secret library finally appeared before Cyrus' eyes.
Cyrus walked through the door and came to a magnificent auditorium.
It was very high and the whole room was circular, with very detailed and ornate carvings on the walls, making it look like a church rather than a vault.
Even if we just tear down some of the buildings here, it would probably be enough for the Weasley family to take a trip to Africa.
But what really attracted Cyrus's attention was not the superficial wealth, but knowledge and power!
He was standing on the ground that was as solid as the surface of water. In the center of the hall, which was also the center of the magical water flow, was something that looked like a pool. Of course, it was actually a meditation basin.
The basin contains water that can bring memories to the surface, and the memories of the four guardians are quietly suspended above the meditation basin.
This doesn't seem like anything special -
All it takes is a levitation spell, and even a lousy wizard can do it, provided they ignore the fact that the four guardians have been dead for hundreds of years.
Generally speaking, when the caster dies, their magic disappears with them.
After Voldemort was completely destroyed, his curse on the Defense Against the Dark Arts class disappeared; after the death of the Potters, the Fidelius Charm also lost its effect, because when the caster disappeared, the spell they cast had no source of magic.
But there are also many exceptions, the most familiar example is Hogwarts.
This ancient castle has existed for a thousand years, and its creators, the four giants, have long since died. But to this day, the castle's magic shows no signs of fading.
Either the entire castle itself is a product of ancient magic, or Hogwarts has a huge source of magical power.
Or -
Both? Cyrus didn't know, but he knew that the secret of ancient magic was now before his eyes, and this time, no one would suddenly appear and interrupt him.
"The Guardian went to so much trouble to set up so many tests, it can't be just to protect a memory that has no value at all."
Cyrus picked up the exquisite little bottle suspended above the Pensieve and poured a stream of silver, mercury-like liquid into the Pensieve. The water in the basin immediately swirled.
"Show me your secret."
