Chapter 135: Guardian of Ancient Magic

The same exquisite and magnificent house still remains in my memory, but it is covered with a layer of gray gauze.

Two wizards dressed in more traditional attire were constantly changing their spells, filling in the details of the house. The exquisite spires rose like spirals, and they looked like gods.

The two wizards were one fat and one thin, one tall and one short. The short and fat one was the ancestor of Rookwood, and the other one was named Percival Rackham. Cyrus had never heard of this last name, but Percival and Dumbledore had the same middle name.

Not only that, the name also belongs to King Arthur's second Knight of the Round Table.

As he recalled, Rookwood was concerned about Percival's setting up of such complicated and numerous levels, but his hands did not stop moving as they cast one secret magic after another.

[Are you worried that no one can get through? Don't worry, this is for those who can see ancient magic like us.] Percival said softly while saving his memory in the bottle.

Cyrus listened to their conversation and watched them cast spells, and to him, all of these spells seemed to follow a certain pattern.

However, he still hasn't figured out where the advantages of ancient magic lie. For the same degree of deformation, it seems that ordinary transfiguration can also achieve the same effect.

Just as he was wondering, a voice suddenly came from behind him.

“The key is greater power and longer retention.”

Cyrus turned around quickly, only to see the two wizards in his memory speaking to him as if they had suddenly gained souls.

“And it’s also going to be more mysterious.”

The two wizards were no longer just memories at this moment, but more like the state in Cyrus' diary at that time. This made Cyrus immediately alert.

Who knows what kind of world this is? Maybe these guardians are evil villains in this world.

"Don't worry, we are just a thought." Percival seemed to see Cyrus's worry and immediately answered, "Just like a portrait."

"I've never heard that the memories in the Pensieve can have a certain thinking ability like a portrait." Cyrus certainly wouldn't let down his guard just because of a sentence.

Now he even regretted using the meditation bowl. If he used his ability to view the memories directly, he would have more room for maneuver.

"I was still a little careless."

Fortunately, Percival and Rookwood did not do anything out of the ordinary, but continued to explain.

"Ancient magic is extremely powerful and allows us to do things that ordinary wizards cannot do," said Percival.

In fact, he could even be described as being downright modest.

Wizards gifted with ancient magic look upon ordinary wizards as if they were Muggles. Ordinary wizards can't even see ancient magic, let alone decipher it.

There is a huge difference between them.

It's like a Muggle can build an exquisite castle on the beach, but a wizard can do it just by waving a wand.

In other words, ancient magic can do everything that ordinary magic can do, and ancient magic can do everything that ordinary magic can't do! "Don't tell me that you went to so much trouble to leave so many tests just to preserve a memory?" Cyrus asked.

In fact, if we follow the plot of "Legacy", there is almost nothing in Vault 12 except a bunch of tests, and the memories they left behind only prove the fact that ancient magic existed.

Speaking of qualifications, both Percival and Rookwood revealed unspeakable emotions in their eyes, as if they had made a mistake because of this.

Cyrus was not very worried about this. When it came to character, he wasn't that good, but at least he wouldn't eat more than 500 big melons every day.

"Moreover, such protection is obviously necessary," Percival said, "because more than a hundred years ago, a goblin attempted to get his hands on the power of ancient magic. He even reached this secret vault, but ultimately returned empty-handed."

"Lanlock? Where did he go?"

"I'm not sure. Perhaps he died from the giant sword guarding the statue. Our consciousness only exists in the Pensieve, and we're not so clear about other things." Percival said uncertainly.

"The only thing that is certain is that if ancient magic falls into the hands of goblins or people with ulterior motives, the magic world will definitely face a huge crisis."

Cyrus agreed with this point.

But if that were all, this trip to Vault No. 12 would have been a huge disappointment for him.

He got almost nothing. He already knew about the existence of ancient magic, so there was no need to confirm it again.

As if seeing what Cyrus was thinking, Percival and Rookwood smiled at each other and continued, "You must be wondering why we went to so much trouble to not store ancient magic in the secret vault. In fact, the ancient magic itself flows in the magic power of your body."

"It flows through my body?"

"Of course, young wizards don't acquire magic powers only after they go to Hogwarts. Instead, they are qualified to go to Hogwarts because they possess magic powers. The same is true for ancient magic. It is precisely because you have this talent that you are standing here now."

"But how can I stimulate its power?"

"You just need to feel the difference," Percival said intoxicatedly, "feel the two completely different magics, and you will find that it is so obvious that even if you only cast the most ordinary spells, you can enhance its power.

"Think about the Revelation spell you cast. Why was it able to break the barrier of ancient magic? This is because when you cast the spell, two kinds of magic were contained. Now you have to find out the difference between them and transform the first one into the magic of ancient magic."

Cyrus closed his eyes and felt it, but it didn't have much effect.

"Not that easy, right? However, I think the test we left behind can help you a little. Moreover, as to how to use the power of ancient magic well, we will only show you after you complete the test."

"test?"

"There are four tests set by the four of us guardians of ancient magic. But I think you may need to find a book first. It is placed in the Curiosity Pavilion at Hogwarts."

"The Pavilion of Knowledge?" Cyrus only had a vague understanding of the plot of "Legacy", and this Pavilion of Knowledge was a place he had never heard of.

"You'll find it at Hogwarts."

The memory ends.
