Chapter 113 Lockhart's Invitation
The next day, as if foreshadowing that the dark cloud that the basilisk had brought to Hogwarts had dissipated, the long-lost sunshine once again shone on Hogwarts Castle.
Mike got out of bed in high spirits, looked at the bright sunshine outside the window and the owls flying by from time to time, and stretched his body.
He found that he was actually a very nostalgic person. He had been running around outside for a while and had no chance to return to his dormitory. Last night, he lay back on his small bed and fell asleep immediately, even without doing the daily brain occlusion training.
After making his bed, Mike walked out of the dormitory.
Everyone who came towards him greeted Mike with a smile. As the only one alive among the four people who were rewarded by Dumbledore at the end of the dinner last night, Mike won the respect of all Ravenclaws, not to mention that he also won 100 points for Ravenclaw, making the gem in Ravenclaw's hourglass now the same as Gryffindor, far exceeding Hufflepuff and Slytherin.
Normally, Mike would have avoided these annoying flies, but today he was in a particularly good mood and actually greeted the students one by one.
Seeing Mike like this, the students became even more enthusiastic, and a girl even wanted to hug Mike. Fortunately, Franklin arrived in time with a group of Muggle-blooded Ravenclaw students and dragged away the girl who weighed at least 200 pounds.
Since Mike helped the Hufflepuff student in the hall last time, many Muggle-blooded students in Hogwarts have become Mike's loyal fans, and even set up a Mike Club. Franklin, as Mike's number one best friend (self-proclaimed), naturally became the club's director.
"Mike, we should go. If we don't leave now, we will be late for class." Franklin said to Mike.
Mike's smile did not diminish, and he waved to the students who were blocked by the "Mike Club members", causing a cheer and followed Franklin to the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom.
When the two arrived at the classroom, the class had not started yet and there were not many people in the classroom. Mike ate the sandwich Franklin brought him bit by bit. He asked, "How are you feeling recently?"
"Not bad. Thanks to you, I am now considered a semi-famous person." Franklin replied with his legs crossed. "You didn't see it. Some girls even sent me love letters. Omg, do I look stupid? You can tell at a glance that those girls are coming for you."
Before Mike could reply, Lockhart walked into the classroom. The first Defense Against the Dark Arts class after the basilisk incident officially began. Mike stuffed the last small piece of sandwich into his mouth and watched Lockhart on the stage with great interest as he began to tell the story in his novel. Mike
had never read a novel written by Lockhart. In the past, he knew that Lockhart was an incompetent memory thief, so he disdained to read it. But today he was in a good mood. Listening to Lockhart's lecture on the stage, he found that the stories written by Lockhart were quite attractive.
To be honest, Lockhart is indeed a good novelist. Whether it is the rhythm of the plot or the burst of excitement, Lockhart handles it very well. It is not without reason that he can succeed.
Lockhart on the stage has been paying attention to the reaction of Mike, the new celebrity of Hogwarts. Seeing that Mike was listening with relish, he spoke more vigorously.
But he did not get carried away and let Mike come on stage to perform the plot in the novel, because he already knew why he was beaten up in the Ravenclaw common room before according to his investigation. He did not think it was just a coincidence. He felt that this was all Mike's revenge on him. Mike was not like Harry Potter. He could rely on his status as a professor to make him cooperate with him. If Mike was embarrassed in public, Lockhart believed that Mike would definitely treat him in his own way.
So in this harmonious and pleasant atmosphere, Lockhart's Defense Against the Dark Arts class was over.
Mike hummed a little song and got up to leave the classroom to eat in the auditorium. The dinner had just ended yesterday, and the food for lunch today must be very rich.
"Hey, Mike. Can I take up a moment of your time?" Lockhart suddenly appeared in front of Mike, rubbing his hands. "Can you come to my office after class this afternoon? I have something to discuss with you."
Looking at Lockhart's smooth face nourished by various skin care products, Mike's smile slowly disappeared and he said, "What's wrong, Professor Lockhart? Did I do something wrong?"
"No, no, no! You misunderstood. It's definitely a good thing for me to find you this time. It's just that it's not convenient to say it here. Don't worry." Seeing that Mike misunderstood, Lockhart hurriedly explained.
Mike saw Lockhart's strange attitude and became alert. The heir of Slytherin has not been caught yet. Is Lockhart the heir? Is he going to his office this time to kill himself?
Mike pondered for a moment and shook his head again. Lockhart had no motive to do so. Judging from the heir's actions, he has been targeting Mike from the beginning. From this point of view, it can be concluded that the heir must be Mike's enemy. But Mike and Lockhart do not have any big hatred.
But even though the possibility of Lockhart being the heir was very small, it did not mean that he was completely free of suspicion. Lockhart's office could not be visited. If Lockhart was really the heir, it would be extremely unwise to fight him on his home turf.
Mike's brain was working rapidly, and he soon thought of a good place: the kitchen of Hogwarts.
There were many house-elves in the kitchen of Hogwarts. Although these house-elves usually looked submissive, their strength was actually not weak. If Lockhart really had a conflict with him at that time, those house-elves would definitely not sit idly by.
Thinking of this, Mike nodded to Lockhart and said, "I can talk to you, but we have to change the venue. I don't like the decoration in your office. Let's go to the kitchen of Hogwarts. I just want to ask the house-elves some questions about cooking magic."
Lockhart showed an embarrassment on his face. He hesitated for a moment before agreeing. Franklin looked at Lockhart's back and asked Mike, "He is not right. Do you want me to go with you later?"
Mike glanced at Franklin and saw that his face was full of tension. How could he not know what he was thinking. He felt guilty because Franklin, as his friend, did not help him in the basilisk incident. He
stared at Franklin for a long time until Franklin became uncomfortable. Mike retracted his gaze and said slowly, "Thank you, Franklin. I'll ask you to go with me later this afternoon."
