Chapter 116 The Wonderful Kitchen
Mike and Franklin no longer hesitated and headed straight towards the Hogwarts kitchen. Along the way, Franklin seemed to notice that Mike was in a bad mood and did not say anything more to Mike.
The Hogwarts kitchen is next to the Hufflepuff common room and not far from the greenhouse. The two walked quickly and soon approached the kitchen.
"Why are you in Hufflepuff?" A voice suddenly came.
Mike and Franklin looked back and saw Cedric and two lower-grade Hufflepuff students looking at them with confusion.
"We are going to the kitchen." Mike replied with a smile.
"I haven't thanked you for what happened last time. I was out on patrol with the management team that day and didn't get here in time. Luckily you came to my rescue." Cedric said sincerely, "Do you guys need anything in the kitchen? I'm very familiar with that place and maybe I can help."
Mike said indifferently, "Uh, no need. I just think the Hufflepuff cream chicken at noon is delicious, and I want to ask the house-elves how it was made."
"Ha! That's Mrs. Hufflepuff's masterpiece!" Cedric snapped his fingers and said excitedly, "How about this, I'll go with you and introduce you to the Hogwarts kitchen."
Mike and Franklin looked at each other and noticed the helplessness in each other's eyes.
"No, really." Mike said word by word, "We won't bother you with this little thing."
Cedric was not a person with low emotional intelligence. He realized that he had said something wrong after a little thought, and quickly said, "Okay, then I won't go with you. When there is a chance, I will take you to the Hufflepuff Common Room for a good tour."
Mike agreed decisively and sent away the enthusiastic Cedric.
Watching Cedric disappear at the entrance of Hufflepuff College, Mike took Franklin into the kitchen of Hogwarts.
The kitchen area of Hogwarts is very large, but the equipment is very simple. Not to mention the electric oven and dishwasher, even the most basic stove is burned with wood. It is hard to imagine that the house elves made so many dishes in such an "ancient" kitchen.
When Mike and Franklin came to the kitchen, the house elves were preparing dinner. Today's dinner should be roast chicken and sausages. Many house elves wearing pillowcases with the Hogwarts logo worked together. Some of them waved their fingers like a conductor, and the whole live chicken was quickly killed, bled, and feathered. Some were specifically controlling the heat, and some used their fingers to direct the processed broilers to be baked in a stone kiln similar to a primitive oven. The whole kitchen was filled with fragrance.
A house elf seemed to have discovered Mike and Franklin, screamed, and then disappeared with a "chi!" sound.
Then, as if a chain reaction had been triggered, all the house elves in the Hogwarts kitchen looked at Mike and Franklin in horror, and then all disappeared.
Mike was speechless. He wiped the sweat from his forehead and shouted to the empty kitchen, "We have no ill intentions. We just want to ask you for a favor."
"Respected wizard, what do you need?"
A voice suddenly sounded from the side of Mike. Mike was startled. He finally calmed down his pounding heart and turned his head to look. He saw a well-proportioned house-elf with a pair of big pointed ears, about 40 cm tall, looking at Mike and the others nervously. The little face was barely trying to smile, but it was a little distorted because it was too nervous.
"Uh, I think..."
Before Mike could finish, the house-elf looked fierce, with disbelief written all over his face, and screamed, "Wow! You are Lord Mike! The Lord Mike who participated in the snake removal operation and was praised by the principal!" As
soon as these words came out, the house-elves that had disappeared came out from every corner of the kitchen and looked at Mike curiously.
"Thank you so much, Sir Mike. If you hadn't gotten rid of the basilisk, we wouldn't be able to work properly until now." The house-elf choked up and said, "I don't dare to recall the days when I couldn't work properly. It was so painful!"
The other elves in the kitchen echoed, and soon the kitchen was filled with crying.
Mike reacted immediately and hurried to comfort the house-elves. Franklin was obviously seeing a house-elf for the first time, and he hadn't adjusted yet. He really didn't understand why he was so upset when he couldn't work properly.
After learning about Mike's identity, Mike and Franklin's treatment immediately improved. The house-elves warmly invited the two to sit at a huge table, and then one exquisite dish after another was served.
Looking at the busy house elves, Mike said to the house elf Hanger who had been following them from the beginning: "You are so enthusiastic that I feel a little embarrassed."
Hanger's big tears immediately flowed from his big eyes when he heard it, and he hurriedly said: "We are so useless that we embarrassed Lord Mike. Damn it!" He was about to slap himself.
Mike quickly stopped him and said: "No, no, no! What I mean is that your hospitality is really great, and the food is also very delicious!"
Hanger's sadness turned into joy.
Seeing Hanger's attitude change 360 degrees, Mike wiped the cold sweat from his forehead again and said: "Hanger, I think house elves are the best magical creatures in the world, so I have always wanted a house elf of my own. I wonder if I can take one from you?"
Hanger was so excited when he heard Mike praising them, but he showed an embarrassed look when he heard the second half of Mike's words.
"Sir Mike, I'm afraid that's not possible." Hanger said, "We have all signed a contract with Master Hufflepuff to serve Hogwarts for generations."
Mike looked disappointed when he heard this, but he was very happy in his heart. He knew everything Hanger said, and he didn't want to take the house-elves here at all.
"If that's the case, then forget it." Mike said, "Can I ask you for a favor? Professor Lockhart will come here to discuss something with me in a while. You may not know that Professor Lockhart has the habit of fighting when he disagrees with me. If he does something out of line later, can you help me stop him?"
Hanger's heart was almost broken when he saw the disappointment on Mike's face. As a house-elf, not being able to satisfy the master is the most serious crime.
At this time, hearing Mike's request again, there was no reason to refuse, and he happily agreed.
Seeing that Hanger agreed without hesitation, Mike's face also showed a smile. This time it was stable. If Lockhart is really the heir, then today he can definitely give him a surprise!
