Chapter 68 Unlucky Percy
Following the order of the Head Girl, the carriage that Mike and his companions were riding on was dragged up silently by two Thestrals.
After a period of run-up, the two Thestrals spread their bat-like wings, flapped them twice, and took the carriage into the air.
The Thestrals are indeed excellent magical creature mounts. Not only is the entire take-off process as smooth as flowing water, but the flying speed is also very fast.
Mike felt that these Thestrals were able to fly not because of their wings, but because of another special power, because when these Thestrals spread their wings, he saw with his own eyes that there were many holes on their wings, the largest of which was even as big as Mike's head. No matter what kind of creature it was, it would definitely not be able to fly with such a pair of tattered wings.
The climate in the UK is cold, and the evening breeze brought a hint of chill to his body. Mike shook his body twice and stopped looking at the two Thestrals, and got back into the carriage.
In the carriage, Franklin was teasing the laughing owl Alfu above his head. Due to the characteristics of owls hiding during the day and coming out at night, the little guy seemed very excited, and his big eyes curiously looked at the decorations in the carriage.
"It seems that you are in good condition." Mike sat next to Franklin and said to him.
"I told you a long time ago that it's nothing serious." Franklin waved his hand and said, "This is an old problem. I get a headache when I think of my parents, but it's okay as long as I don't think about it."
"Let's go to Madam Pomfrey to see. It's best if there is nothing wrong. If there is something, we can find it in advance."
Franklin was thinking about saying something, but seeing Mike's sincere eyes, the words that came to his throat were not spoken after all. He just felt a sour nose, nodded and stopped talking.
The Thestral flew very fast, and soon sent the two to the hunting grounds of Hogwarts. Professor Kettleburn was waiting there early.
Professor Kettleburn is the professor of magical creatures at Hogwarts. He is a very enthusiastic old man. Because he usually has to take care of and study those dangerous magical creatures, Professor Kettleburn is often injured, which also caused him to lose an arm and half a leg forever. It is said that due to his physical disability and his increasing age, he will retire next year.
Professor Kettleburn was very surprised that Mike and the other two came to Hogwarts in advance. After learning the whole story, he hurriedly notified Madam Pomfrey and asked her to send Franklin to the infirmary.
Mike and Penelope originally wanted to go with them, but Madam Pomfrey sent them to the hall on the grounds that they would disturb the treatment.
Professor Kettleburn did not leave. Thestrals carrying senior students were landing one after another, and he had to pick up these students here.
"Don't worry, Pomfrey is definitely the most skilled healer I've ever seen. Even the chief physician of St. Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries is not as good as her." Professor Kettleburn threw two pieces of fresh meat to the two Thestrals. Seeing that Mac and Penelope looked very worried, he comforted them, "So don't worry, your friend will be safe. You should hurry to the hall." Mac and Penelope
had to leave after hearing that.
The hall was decorated magnificently tonight. When the two arrived at the hall, there were already some students sitting on the four long tables representing the four major colleges.
Professor Flitwick was sitting on the teacher's seat on the high platform chatting with other classrooms. He saw Mac and Penelope walking into the classroom, and hurriedly stood up from the high cushioned chair and waved to the two. Because of the big movement, he almost fell off the seat. Fortunately, Snape at the side cast a levitation spell in time. Mac also
saw Professor Flitwick and waved to him. At the same time, he also noticed that there was no Professor McGonagall in the classroom. It seemed that the professor who organized the freshmen to participate in the sorting ceremony today was still McGonagall.
Mike and Penelope sat down at the long table of Ravenclaw. Not long after, Professor Kettleburn came to the auditorium with a large group of senior students.
The atmosphere of the entire auditorium became lively in an instant. The seats around Mike and Penelope were full of people. Everyone was talking about what they saw and heard during the holidays and expressing their joy of seeing their friends again.
Dumbledore on the stage smiled and looked at the messy appearance of the little wizards below, and did not stop them. It was as if he saw the most beautiful scene in the world.
In the end, Professor McGonagall, who was standing outside the door waiting for the freshmen, could not stand the noise. She rushed into the auditorium and put her wand against her throat and released a loud curse: "Be quiet! The freshmen will be here soon, sit down obediently! You don't want to..."
However, before she finished speaking, the door was opened again, and a wet red-haired boy walked in from the outside. It was Percy.
Percy felt that he was really unlucky tonight. Those damned brats were like demons from hell, and they made him exhausted. If he hadn't wanted to create the image of a caring big brother, Percy swore that he would definitely let them know why the flowers were so red.
His shoulder was still aching, and Hagrid, that damn guy, almost broke his bones with a slap.
However, this was not the worst luck tonight. When Percy arranged many little wizards and came to the open space where the Thestrals were parked, he found that there was no Thestrals. There was only a note left by the male and female student union presidents on the open space, which read:
Sorry, there was a small accident. Although I don't know who you are, you may have to squeeze into a small boat with the freshmen.
Percy didn't complain about anything. He turned around and ran towards the pier, because he knew that Hagrid and the others were about to leave. If he couldn't catch up with the boat, he might really have to walk to Hogwarts.
Fortunately, Percy caught up with the boat. Unfortunately, since the seats in the boat were fixed, he could only squeeze into the same boat with Hagrid.
The result was predictable. Hagrid's boat was already struggling to carry the weight of Hagrid alone, and with Percy's weight added, the poor boat capsized without a doubt. Fortunately, there was an octopus sea monster in the Black Lake that Hogwarts raised specifically to prevent young wizards from falling into the water, otherwise Percy might not be able to come back tonight.
The people in the hall laughed loudly when they saw Percy's embarrassed look, and the Weasley brothers laughed the loudest.
Amid the laughter of the crowd, Percy's face almost turned the same color as his hair. He had never been insulted like this before.
Professor McGonagall's face was also very ugly. She has always been a person who pays attention to face. With a light wave of her wand, all the moisture on Percy's body disappeared. Seeing Percy still standing there, she shouted in a very low voice, "Go back to your seat! Don't you think you've lost enough face today?"
Hearing this, Percy ran to the Gryffindor table as if he had been pardoned. He almost fell down, perhaps because he was tripped by someone, causing the students in the hall to laugh again.
