Previously, there was a single bed in the room, where her two older nephews slept together, and she and her younger nephew slept in another room. She wanted to move to a bigger room.
It just so happened that during the Double 11 shopping festival, a merchant was having a huge discount on a 1.8-meter bunk bed. It had two beds, with storage underneath and a children's desk included, and the price was even cheaper than the single bed she had previously considered.
So she decisively bought bunk beds and replaced the old single bed in the utility room.
After all, my nephew will have to sleep alone sooner or later.
She also bought two more of the other four-piece suits. The top of the closet was empty anyway, so she might as well take advantage of the discount and buy two sets just in case...
That was pretty much all the snacks. Zhang Siyu packed the food into a stainless steel bucket and put it in the trunk, ready to go home and make lard.
When passing by a grain and oil store, Zhang Siyu remembered that the rice at home also needed to be replenished.
I bought three 20-jin bags of rice before, but only one and a half bags are left, which is a bit less.
"Hello, boss, I want 100 kilograms of rice." Zhang Siyu looked at the brand she usually bought. It was nearly 3 yuan per kilogram here, and the price was not much different.
"Okay, do you want anything else?" The owner of the grain and oil shop was very efficient and immediately helped Zhang Siyu pack the rice and weigh it.
"Let's get a bag of flour." Then I can make dumplings and buns with An An and the others.
"Do you want a big bag or a small bag? The big bag is 50 kilograms, and the small bag is 20 kilograms."
"Big bag. Boss, another bucket of cooking oil."
"Okay. I'll round off the difference and charge you 460 in total."
Zhang Siyu handed over 500 yuan and said, "Boss, don't give me the change for 40 yuan. Please help me get 10 kilograms of noodles."
"Okay." The boss happily took the money, and then actively helped Zhang Siyu put the things in the back of the pickup truck.
"Thank you, boss." Zhang Siyu saw that there was still some space left in the car, so she simply asked for another 100 kilograms of rice, too lazy to buy it next time.
"No thanks, no thanks. Take care. Welcome to visit us next time..." The boss was very happy as he loaded 100 kilograms of rice into Zhang Siyu's car.
It was a big deal, and he didn't have to deliver the goods to the customer's door. It was easy money.
The first thing Zhang Siyu did when she got home was to wash the stainless steel barrel and then start to boil lard.
Cleaning over 60 kilograms of lard is a massive undertaking. Zhang Siyu cleans it three times, removing all the lymph nodes and any hair that might have stained it, before she begins cutting it into pieces.
There are two stoves at home. Zhang Siyu poured a little water into both pots, then put the chopped pork fat into the pots and started to boil.
Use two spoons of salt on each side and use two pots at the same time, this way the process will be faster.
It takes about 30 minutes to boil a pot of lard. Zhang Siyu then began to clean the two pig stomachs, large intestines and small intestines.
These are harder to clean than lard, but they're truly delicious. Every time she makes hot and sour pig intestines, she and her nephews eat an extra bowl of rice.
Thinking of this gave me motivation! Zhang Siyu poured flour and rubbed it twice, then washed it thoroughly with salt.
During this process, the third and fourth pots of lard have been cooked. In addition to the four pots of lard, there is also a large basin of fragrant lard residue.
Because of the addition of salt and the fact that it is freshly out of the pan, it tastes really good with its crispy texture.
Zhang Siyu ate two pieces and found them particularly delicious, with just the right amount of saltiness. But she couldn't eat too much of this at once, so she stopped after a quick taste and began to boil the fifth and sixth pots of oil.
The pot at her house is relatively small, so it looks like it will take two or three hours to cook.
Sure enough, it was almost 8 o'clock when the last few dozen kilograms of lard were cooked. Zhang Siyu heated up the food in the microwave, had a simple dinner, and began to organize the things she had bought.
Those that don’t last long can be stored in the refrigerator, while those that last long can be spread directly on the floor of the utility room.
The so-called utility room is actually an empty room with only a bed in it. During the renovation, it was tidied up a bit, making it a little smaller, but it is clean and bright. Zhang Siyu uses it as a storage room.
Speaking of which, the scale of my stockpiling this time is quite large.
In previous years, I would just buy a small amount during the Chinese New Year to feel the atmosphere of stockpiling goods.
I really spent a lot of money this year.
The 400L refrigerator was almost full, the floor of the utility room was covered with food, and there was no extra space left for the various snacks placed on the replaced single bed.
There were several snakeskin bags filled with grapefruits and candied oranges in the corner, and they were quite full.
Of course, the storage room isn't just filled with today's purchases; there's also some of the things she stocked up on during Double 11. For example, the storage box contains the healthy whole grain gift pack she bought during Double 11. It contains 10 different kinds of whole grains, and she also bought 3 kilograms...
Occasionally adding some whole grains to rice will make it taste better and is also good for the body.
But the paradox is that she has always been a person who takes care of her health while hurting her body. She stocked up on junk food during Singles' Day.
One of the three large boxes of snail noodles is almost empty, and the two boxes of instant noodles and hot and sour noodles haven't been unpacked yet, but they feel like they'll be gone soon...
The main reason is that I have been working in self-media before, and my work and life have always been a bit irregular, so I fell in love with the pleasure of junk food.
But she didn’t dare give more to her nephews, so they should just eat their food well!
Zhang Siyu sealed the junk food, cleaned it up for a while, washed up and went to bed.
The moon set and the sun rose, and Zhang Siyu greeted the next day's dawn with great anticipation. Today's task was to clean the house and then visit her sister.
Her sister's ashes are kept in the cemetery. She goes to the cemetery to visit and talk to her sister every year during the Chinese New Year, and this year is no exception.
