Chapter 261 Faith, the Prelude Begins

The man and the god faced each other in silence.

Chu Yunfan lit a cigarette, but unlike before, he didn't inhale as fiercely. He took a slow puff, held it in his mouth for a long time, and then exhaled, as if it were a game.

I happened to see a thin, slender branch high in the tree canopy, with only a few scattered leaves, where the demon god sat as lightly as a wisp of white cloud.

Several small boxes of unknown material floated nearby, and He would occasionally take something out of them and "cherish" it and put it into his mouth.

Perhaps it was in his most fearless moment that Chu Yunfan suddenly had an idea, raised his head and shouted loudly:

"My Lord Demon God, what are you eating?"

Ling Xiao paused as she reached for the faith, then casually tilted her head and tossed a little away:

"If you want to know, why not try it yourself?"

Before he could finish speaking, while Chu Yunfan was still in a daze, that seemingly light and thin thread of faith, which actually embodied the beliefs of millions of people, had already merged into his body like a clay ox sinking into the sea.

In an instant, Chu Yunfan was shocked.

Have I lost my mind? Just look at all the bizarre and evil gods this guy eats, and by extension, what good can come of this?

Sure enough, with a buzz, as a sense of abundant power appeared, countless murmurs emerged, chaotic, numerous, and fragmented.

There were curses brimming with hatred, devout prayers, joyful vows fulfilled, and solemn grand sacrifices...

Men and women, young and old, dressed in simple clothes and fur coats, beautiful and ugly, all sorts of people were talking.

There are countless varieties.

Even the busy system took a moment to look worriedly at Chu Yunfan, whose face was blank and who looked like an idiot:

"Host, whose faith did you just throw down? How could it be so powerful?"

"Is it really going to make her stupid? No way!"

"It's just a little bit, it's fine." Ling Xiao held up two fingers, indicating a small distance between them.

"This is the worship of the moon goddess, which is considered relatively mild, at least unlike the fanatical worship of the god of wealth."

"It should be...no problem, right?"

As she spoke, Ling Xiao's tone became somewhat guilty.

However, she quickly dismissed this feeling of guilt; why should she make things difficult for herself?

With a major battle looming, she needed to do everything in her power to increase her chances of winning.

Whether it's having the system arrange ceremonies to align with plans related to Chu Yunfan.

Whether it's squeezing herself dry or turning her faith into strength, it's all part of her preparation.

Consuming several faiths accumulated over thousands of years in a short period of time is a huge burden, or even a great loss, for Ling Xiao.

With proper coordination and timing, these beliefs could have had a significantly greater impact, but now they're just piled up haphazardly.

With this in mind, Ling Xiao made up her mind that someone had to bear this loss!

As for who it is, there's no rush. She'll wait and see which persimmon is sweet, fragrant, and soft...

The night was quiet, so Chu Yunfan's heavy breathing was very penetrating.

The wild beasts and wandering demons in the dense forest heard the sound, but when they got closer, they were inexplicably afraid and avoided the place.

Chu Yunfan, whose body was as smooth as jade after being washed, was both disheveled and dazzling. He felt many benefits with just a little effort.

The improvements in strength and agility were one thing, but he also found that his inspiration was becoming clearer and his body felt much lighter.

Moreover, he vaguely knew that his power would be stronger under the moonlight, and that the moonlight would conceal his tracks and provide him with invisible protection.

"What...what is this?"

Chu Yunfan couldn't help but ask. He had never even heard of such a treasure before, and he was certain that it couldn't possibly have been created in this world.

It was such a fantastic and wonderful experience.

Even though it is accompanied by pain, one can still feel the greatness behind it.

Damn it, why are you digging so deep? You ate it, so what? Do you expect me to tell you that this is a belief I obtained through deception and fraud?

While inwardly complaining, Ling Xiao maintained his mysterious demeanor on the surface, the tree canopy obscuring most of his figure, leaving only a barely discernible outline.

"These are ingredients I've treasured for a long time. I didn't want to eat them all at once, so I ate them slowly over a long period of time."

He sighed softly and complained gently:

"There's no other way now. In order to avoid a complete defeat in this hunt, I have no choice but to eat all my hidden treasures at once."

"What a waste! Such a terrible thing..."

Chu Yunfan carefully considered the Demon God's words and was surprised to find that, in his heart, the "big eater" who never knew how to be satisfied with "food" actually had a time when he cherished a certain "ingredient".

He became even more curious.

What could it be? A rare treasure from a more advanced world?

Thinking this way, and having asked the same question, Ling Xiao, thoroughly annoyed, simply replied:

"It's probably similar to an evil god, but it's purer, has more energy, and tastes completely different."

Chu Yunfan's face froze. What? Those twisted, filthy, and hideous evil gods that defied human limits...

Fortunately, He added one more sentence:

"The righteous gods, who are the counterparts to the evil gods, have accumulated power over millions of years to create this thing. It is very rare, and almost no righteous god would sell it."

Ling Xiao looked at the boxes in front of her with "tender affection." She sighed, "If these beliefs weren't produced by my own followers, which god would distribute their own foundation?"

She didn't notice the look of surprise on Chu Yunfan's face after he finished listening, as if he had suddenly realized something.

No God would sell, yet He had so much, and He ate it all and kept it for a long time.
