Everyone was shocked. Had Su Lie offended the Black Emperor's statue?
Li Yue thought to himself, "This is bad. One problem after another. Since the Goddess of Mount Tai has spoken out, there's no way she can lie."
"Could it be that time in the outskirts of the capital?" Wen Xin's face was even paler than when he was punished, he looked like a ghost.
It's his fault again!
His Majesty built a new temple to the Black Emperor, believing himself to be a lewd and obscene temple built under the deception of the goddess. He ordered Su Lie to demolish the statues and smash the temple!
Su Lie wasn't stupid. Seeing the pity in the eyes of those around him and his friend's guilty conscience making him want to hang himself, he understood what was going on.
"I was the one who knocked down the Black Emperor statue, will he punish me like this too?"
The little goddess seemed to have something happy about it; her eyes turned into crescent moons as she smiled, and she shook her head in denial.
Everyone breathed a sigh of relief, and some even muttered to themselves, "He really is a wise emperor of ancient times; he's much more generous than the ghosts and gods from hell."
Look at how others are, and look at you!
Li Yue calmed himself down and, seeing that it was a false alarm, smiled and prepared to smooth things over, saying, "You're good, I'm good, everyone's good."
"I am merely an unofficial deity without even a divine position. When I suffer injustice, I can only punish the instigator. The Black Emperor Zhuanxu is a powerful figure among the human race..."
Her clear, piercing gaze swept across the entire room, and the words she uttered chilled the soul:
"They have protected humanity for many years, yet once they were worshipped, their idols were toppled and their temples trampled. These mere humans are far too audacious!"
Before the words were even finished, everyone felt as if their hearts were being clenched, and an increasingly severe pain struck.
Yes, the Goddess of Mount Tai has not yet become an immortal, so she still holds back against the human race. What about the Black Emperor Zhuanxu?
Throughout history, the practice of venting anger has never ceased. If a general of the Great Jin Dynasty makes a mistake, will the gods incur the wrath of his entire clan, the entire court, or even the whole world...?
Li Yue's lips twitched as he tried to calm himself down and say something.
As the ruler of a country, I understand best that if the people treat me this way, even the extermination of my entire family would not be too much.
Another charge is deceiving the emperor.
“Aunt, I will order that the Black Emperor be established as a national sacrifice. As long as the Li family does not perish and the Great Jin Dynasty does not fall, this sacrifice will continue.”
After promising great benefits, Li Yue, in the dignity of an emperor, prostrated himself, the corner of his black robe falling to the ground. He removed his crown, letting his hair fall loose, his forehead touching his palm.
"Please, Auntie, help us."
Behind them, in the hall, ministers and servants followed their king in silent prostration.
Everyone understood that the connection between immortals and mortals was impenetrable, and their apologies could only be conveyed through the young deity before them.
A notification sounded in Ling Xiao's mind, and the system couldn't suppress its laughter:
"Hidden quest, The Charismatic One (from kings to ministers, they are all captivated by you and beg for your favor) complete."
Ignoring the task rewards, Ling Xiao scoffed and coldly replied to them:
Why should I help you? Don't forget you just offended me.
The goddess rejected them, and upon realizing this, many of the ministers were bewildered.
Su Lie raised his head blankly, his ears ringing, and the young man's upright body seemed to bend over in a short moment.
He realized he had made a huge mistake, one that could have consequences that could involve innocent people.
He wanted to at least understand what punishment meant, and with this simple thought in mind, he asked, "How will the Black Emperor Zhuanxu punish me?"
That's a good question. Wenxin, who looked like he was about to die, thought to himself with a bitter smile that at least he knew what kind of death he was facing.
"The Heavenly Emperor once proclaimed to the Three Realms that a local chieftain had overthrown his altar in ancient times, and erected a mountain of rice, a mountain of noodles, and a golden lock in the Hall of Fragrant Breeze."
The little girl squatted down in front of the emperor with a smile, and said maliciously, "Since we're all emperors, guess what the Jade Emperor is going to do?"
Li Yue was in a state of confusion and had no idea how to guess, so he said he didn't know.
"He made a chicken peck at the rice, a dog lick the noodles, and a golden lock burn with an oil lamp. Only when the chicken finished eating the rice, the dog finished licking the noodles, and the golden lock burned through could it rain here."
That's so cruel!
Those present didn't need to calculate to know that once these three things were completed and rain fell, that place would have long been littered with corpses and barren of vegetation.
Li Yue angrily raised his head, his bloodshot eyes revealing the torment in his heart.
The ominous premonition grew stronger, and Wang Yi's eyes rolled back as if he wanted to faint. He already understood what the Black Emperor's punishment was, and he believed that his other colleagues also knew.
Then the Goddess of Mount Tai sighed, cupped her chubby face in her small hands, and said regretfully:
"What are you afraid of? The Black Emperor isn't the Jade Emperor. He's still a human, so it won't be that bad."
Having been tricked so many times, experiencing both great joy and sorrow, everyone was still on edge after hearing the good news, waiting for what would happen next.
Sure enough, the goddess looked out and pointed to the sky:
"When the god of rain is absent for three days, one day in heaven is equivalent to one year on earth; however, this only results in a three-year drought."
"Three years of severe drought, and that's it?"
When the answer came out, many people breathed a sigh of relief. They were so scared just now because they were afraid that they and their parents and relatives would be implicated and die.
Especially those born into wealth, or even those from noble families or high-ranking noble families.
Knowing that it would only be a three-year drought, ordinary people would naturally be displaced and suffer greatly.
For them, life might just be a little tougher at most; three years later, they would still be living a life of wealth and luxury.
Even more people quickly started thinking, knowing that a severe drought was coming, they stockpiled food, hoping to make a fortune.
They don't care, but there are always people who do.
Li Yue felt like vomiting; she wished she could slap herself twice for the idiocy she had displayed a few days ago.
The Great Jin Dynasty was on the rise, but after three years of severe drought, the people could not survive, no matter how much you talked.
