Chapter 27 Big Deal
"Knock knock knock-knock-knock-knock-"
A figure carrying a load on his shoulder was stealthily knocking on the door of a house in a remote alley. The baskets at both ends of the load were covered tightly.
After Hei Mole came in, he took off the towel on his head, wiped the sweat from his forehead, and spoke while panting.
"Oh my god, this guy is so heavy, it's killing me, my shoulders are numb from the weight."
Hei Mozi is the unfamiliar noodle peddler who appeared at the entrance of the alley in front of the slum today.
"Wow, this guy is a good commodity. Looking at his flesh, the price is not low. Black Mole, you are good this time."
A middle-aged woman sitting in the room walked forward and opened the lid of the basket. Her eyes lit up when she saw Wu Jiabao who was unconscious due to drugs.
Looking at this stuff, the boy is well-raised, and if he is successfully sold, he will make a lot of money.
The last time they sold a baby boy, it was just not as good as what they had today.
The boy who was sold before was very skinny, his body looked like shriveled ribs, and he would be sold for dozens of dollars in the countryside.
Wu Jiabao was taken care of very well by Diao Yulian and Wu Shengli. They had to tighten their belts to allow Wu Jiabao to eat meat twice a week, otherwise where would Wu Jiabao get all the fat from?
"Mrs. Li, this fat boy is really stupid. He bought a few pieces of candy and ate them all right away. I put some sleeping pills on the second one, and he passed out after eating it."
Hei Mole glanced at Wu Jiabao who was still sleeping soundly. The fat boy was lying on the ground sleeping like a little fat bear.
"Qiangzi, I think this is the amount I'm going to ask for this time."
As she spoke, Grandma Li pointed with two fingers.
Qiangzi is a middle-aged man with a simple and honest look. He just came out of the room.
"Brother Qiang, when will this guy be sold?"
Hei Mozi is the most active when selling goods.
"Mom, this is a good deal. The child is missing, and this family must have called the police. Let's clean up and take action tomorrow without delay."
The honest Qiangzi inspected the goods and decided to unload them tomorrow.
"Okay, are you still going to sell them in the countryside this time? The boys we sold last time weren't easy to sell."
"Let's change the location and take a bus to the bordering province to have a look. We can definitely sell it for a good price."
Qiangzi thought about the news he had received a while ago, and his eyes flashed.
These three people are a small gang and have been doing this business for several years. Li Po is the oldest of the three, in her forties, and from another province.
On the surface, Li Po looks like a timid woman who has never seen the world.
A few years ago, there was a famine at home and there was really no way out. He and his son Qiangzi went out to hang out in society, and took along a black boy named Hei Mole from the same village.
The three of them finally arrived in Beijing, supporting each other all the way. Since they had no skills, they had to do hard labor to earn money.
One day, on the way home, Li Po met a little girl who fainted from hunger. The three of them decided to sell the little girl to the countryside and earned their first money. This business with no capital investment allowed the three of them to gradually become proficient in their craft.
The three often work together, and Li Po usually plays the role of a miserable mother who is heartbroken by her ignorant children.
The honest Qiangzi is the image of a hard-working husband who is abandoned by his dishonest daughter-in-law.
Hei Mozi is a mobile member, usually responsible for going out to gather information. This time he happened to catch Wu Jiabao in the slum.
After their business had gradually stabilized, the three of them rented a house in a remote alley as their base.
"Grandma Li, I've been hanging around the gate of the compound all morning, but I haven't seen the woman with the gauze wrapped around her head that person mentioned."
Black Mole took a sip of water and thought of the customer who knocked on the door before, and made a sound.
"If you can't find it, just leave it alone and go to sleep. I'll go out and deliver the goods tomorrow morning."
Grandma Li thought about the ten dollars she had earned and felt sorry for it, smacking her lips.
"The child was just lost today. I guess the compound has been keeping a close eye on him for a while. Let's wait until the storm has died down before we go investigate."
Qiangzi found a piece of thick hemp rope from the frame and tied the hands and feet of the still unconscious fat boy tightly, and tied his mouth with a cloth strip.
"Go to sleep, we still have to ship tomorrow."
"Why!"
As the night deepened, the three of them gradually fell asleep, and snoring sounds could be heard from inside the house.
The effect of the medicine on the little fat boy Wu Jiabao wore off. He slowly woke up, squinted his eyes, and was about to stretch, but he didn't expect that his hands and feet were tied.
It hurt every time he moved, and he couldn't speak because his mouth was tied. Wu Jiabao panicked and tears fell from his eyes.
"Where is this? I want my mom! Mom, dad, sister, please come and save me. Jiabao will never eat candy again."
Wu Jiabao knew that he must have been caught by the kidnappers and hidden in this dilapidated house.
Wu Jiabao wanted to cry but didn't dare to, for fear that if he cried out loud, the kidnapper would find out and maybe beat him up. It would hurt his flesh so much if he was beaten.
Wu Jiabao lay on the straw mat with his head raised and his body curled up, looking at the gate outside with tears in his eyes.
Wu Jiabao was extremely hoping that someone would come to rescue him. As the night deepened, he cried and fell asleep.
…
Diao Yulian was supported by Wu Chunyan and went into the house to lie down, while Wu Shengli sat at the door crying.
The family came back from the police station, and the police were already searching and asked them to come back and wait for news.
"Oh my, my dear, where are you? If you don't come back, I'm going to kill you!"
Diao Yulian had a pair of swollen peach-shaped eyes. She leaned against the head of the bed, muttering to herself.
Wu Chunyan went out to the kitchen to get something to eat. Diao Yulian and Wu Shengli had not eaten yet. They spoke weakly and knew they would not be able to hold on if they did not eat something.
"It's all your fault. You can even lose a child at home. I think you're really incompetent at everything you do."
When Wu Shengli thought about how his precious baby boy got lost because there were so many children around, he became furious.
Wu Shengli looked at the powerless Diao Yulian, cursing loudly and pointing his finger at her, shaking with anger.
"Even that grown man can lose his sight, and all you do all day is sleep!"
"Wu Shengli, you still have the nerve to criticize me? You didn't go home after get off work, went out to drink with others, and didn't even come back to take care of the children. Do you think you're right?"
Diao Yulian's face turned pale, and she lowered her voice and gritted her teeth as she argued with Wu Shengli.
"You bitch, what are you talking about? It's all your fault. I'm here to teach you a lesson today."
Wu Shengli looked at the weak Diao Yulian lying there, and with a sudden surge of anger, he slapped Diao Yulian on the mouth.
“Snap—”
"Ah—Wu Shengli, you actually dared to hit me!"
Diao Yulian was almost mad with anger. In all the previous fights between the two of them, Wu Shengli was always the one who got beaten, but she didn't expect that she would be beaten this time.
"You stinky bitch, I'll hit you if you want to. I'll see if you dare to touch your man next time. Today I'll teach you a lesson!"
Wu Shengli became bolder as he looked at Diao Yulian, who only knew how to curse. He held up Diao Yulian's waving hands with one hand and pressed down her moving body with one foot.
