"Grandpa, I'm here. How are you all feeling?"
"We're doing great. How's your studying going lately?"
"It's great, I've just been very busy lately, but I finally had some time to come and take a look."
"Chengcai, there's something I need to tell you."
"Grandpa Lin, what's wrong?" Cheng Cai asked his grandfather.
"Your uncles, who are our sons, are coming to take us away."
"We old folks are leaving, and we'll miss you, our child."
"Grandpa, this is wonderful! After all these years, you are finally reunited with your uncles."
“We were worried about you and Youcai. Over the years, we’ve been so grateful to you, Youcai, and your aunt’s family.”
“Grandpa, we should thank you. All my relatives, except for Youcai, have passed away since I was a child.”
“In my heart, you are my grandfather, and my aunt and Uncle Jianjun are my parents.”
They have all been kind to me; they are all my benefactors.
“Good children, after we leave, we will give you our address. If you have any questions or anything else, just write to the three of us.”
“Oh, Grandpa,” Cheng Cai’s eyes still reddened, even though it wasn’t the first time he had parted from his family.
"Grandpa, where are you going back to? I will definitely go and see you when I have the chance."
"We will definitely meet again in Xia City. Don't worry, you have always been a studious and clear-headed child."
“We will write to you often, and we hope to see you get married.”
"Yes, Grandpa, the separation is only temporary, we will meet again."
"To be honest, my dream is to have a New Year's Eve dinner with my aunt, Uncle Jianjun, and my grandfathers someday."
"I think being able to reunite with my family is a kind of happiness."
Grandpa Lin patted Cheng Cai on the shoulder; he truly treated this child as his own grandson.
From the very beginning of their time here until now, every day, every step they've taken, has revealed this child's gratitude, eagerness to learn, courage, and boldness.
It's rare for the three of them to simultaneously approve of one person, but they all admire Cheng Cai.
He had thought more than once that his son, at his age, wouldn't be any better than him.
Cheng Cai was feeling a bit down when he got home, but he told himself that they would meet again someday.
"Auntie, the three grandfathers are leaving too."
"They're leaving, probably because their kids picked them up."
"Yes, I wonder when we'll meet again."
"You'll learn quickly, don't worry, always look forward," Tingting said with emotion as she spoke of parting.
This was a sad thing for her, but she still packed their things and smiled as she prepared to send them off on their journey through life.
“I understand, Auntie,” Cheng Cai said in silence as he finished his meal.
The next day, Cheng Cai and You Cai went to the cowshed, where several uncles came to pick up their three grandfathers.
“Chengcai and Youcai are here. Come here quickly. These are your uncles.”
"Hello uncles, I am Cheng Cai."
"Hello uncles, I am Youcai."
"I've heard some of the old men talk about you. You're all good kids. We've been so grateful to you all these years."
“Youcai and I should thank our grandfather for teaching us how to be good people and for his guidance in our studies. I never thought I would be so lucky.”
"You're talented! Here's the address. You must write to us old folks when the time comes."
"I understand, Grandpa, don't worry."
With a heavy heart, I watched the grandfathers leave.
