The sweltering heat shone on his face as he chopped wheat with a sickle.
"Honey, have some mung bean soup. Tingting doesn't dare take any medicine now, she only takes supplements because she's breastfeeding and we're afraid it will affect the baby."
At lunchtime, everyone noticed the child Tingting was carrying on her back and went to take a look.
"This child is so chubby! Tingting, you've fed him so well, he doesn't cry or fuss at all."
"That's right, he's really a fat tiger on his back. It's tough being a child during the autumn harvest. The sun is shining on the mountain. We'll have to put him under a tree later. It's so hard to carry him like this."
Tingting ate her sweet potato helplessly and said, "There's nothing I can do about suffering. I'll go over there and feed her some milk later."
When we got to the woods, we washed and dried the baby's bottom with clean water, changed the diaper, and fed the baby some milk.
Seeing the child, Tingting felt heartbroken, but everyone had to work during the autumn harvest, and no one was an exception.
He took out a bottle of mineral water from his spatial storage, drank quite a bit, ate a piece of bread, and then went back to work.
"Wife, take a rest. I'll take care of your plot of land. Let your second sister-in-law's children watch the kids, otherwise they can't carry you like this."
"Help! What's wrong? What happened over there?"
"It looks like a child has fainted. I hope it's not heatstroke."
Tingting and Jianjun rushed over to see if they could help.
These people gave the child some water and pressed her philtrum. The child slowly woke up. "Old Mrs. Qin, your granddaughter has fainted. Let's take her home and let her rest for a while."
“This good-for-nothing fainted while trying to earn work points. He’s just a good-for-nothing. Come on, Qin Lao Er, take your daughter back.”
Qin Lao Er's wife, with tears in her eyes, and the two of them took the child home.
"Mrs. Qin, even if it's a girl, she's still your own granddaughter, right? She fainted and you still scold her."
"Mrs. Guo, let me tell you, mind your own business and do your own thing. Don't worry about things that don't concern you."
"Alright, stop huddling together and get to work. This is our food ration. Hurry up, everyone spread out and get to work."
"Mom, what's wrong with this child? Don't you know Tingzi? This child's name is Qin Yecai."
Tingting's lips twitched at the mention of the name.
"His family prefers boys. Qin Lao Er's family has five girls, while Qin Lao Da's family has three boys."
Old Mrs. Qin is biased too. If you say you don't like it, then don't keep nagging me.
This child is the eldest in his family. He usually goes up the mountain to cut pig feed to earn work points, and he is given very little food. He is only given two vegetable dumplings a day, which is also a hardship.
I felt sorry for Tingting after hearing her story. I'll see if I can help her a little in the future, but that's all I can do. She's not a saint; she also has people she needs to protect.
After watching, I'm ready to get back to work and finish as soon as possible.
"My husband, that little girl from the Qin family named Qin Yecai fainted today."
I've heard about this, but there's nothing we can do to help. After all, it's their family matter. If it's something we can do to help, we will. Their family now prefers boys, and the girl is suffering a lot.
"It's really tough being a woman these days," Tingting sighed.
"Alright, you should eat more and make sure your wife gets some nourishment; she's lost weight recently."
“Isn’t it good to be thinner? To maintain my figure,” Tingting said.
"Don't be silly, I still prefer you with a bit of meat on your bones. Being too skinny doesn't look lucky."
"Why are you using this tactic too, Jianjun? Why don't you like me anymore now that I've lost weight?"
"I like you, I like you no matter what you are like, look at you."
"That's more like it," Tingting pouted.
