Chapter 52 Daily Fragments of Life

“Honey, look, get a bag of wild vegetables, half a bag of hazelnuts, a basket of mushrooms, and two rabbits and a pheasant to take to Mom and Dad.”

"Okay, let's send other things after winter. There are quite a few already."

"Okay, take advantage of the darkness and the fact that there aren't many people around, and hurry up and deliver it."

Who's knocking on the door so late?

"Open the door and go see," said Boss Guo, who was wrapped in his clothes as he went to open the door.

"Jianjun, why are you so late? You've brought so many things. Did you go up the mountain again? Come inside quickly."

"Everyone in the family came out when they heard the commotion. Where did all this stuff go?" Grandma Guo asked.

"You two can't go any deeper into the woods. We didn't see any of these things at the edge of the woods. It's too dangerous."

"Mother, don't worry. I'm not thinking about earning more food. You see, I didn't get much grain this spring, so I'm just trying to earn more on the mountain. If I get more, I'll give some to the family."

"Is this enough for you?" Boss Guo asked.

"That's enough. We've picked quite a few ourselves, and it's already past midnight and there's hardly anyone bringing them to you. I have to go now; I'm worried about Tingzi and the child at home."

"Okay, let's go back. I told you to build the house nearby, but you wouldn't agree. It's so far away."

Jianjun smiled but didn't say anything, and started walking home.

"This third son is quite capable. His two daughters-in-law are overjoyed to see so much food. They can use it to nourish the children. Rabbits and pheasants aren't easy to catch; who would dare to venture into the deep mountains?"

"Alright, hurry up and put it away, go to sleep."

"You're back. Yeah, I've delivered everything."

"I won't be going up the mountain for a while. I put some chestnuts and wild vegetables in the cellar, and I've also put away the jam and other things. After all, there are too many people around, and it wouldn't be good if they found out."

Jianjun held his son, breastfeeding him, saying, "My baby, grow up quickly," and then kissed him.

Seeing this scene, Tingting felt quite happy, with all her loved ones by her side.

Tingting couldn't sleep that night either, so she took out some cotton she had bought before from her space to make a small cotton quilt for the child, to be washed and changed, since the old ones were all worn out.

"Honey, let's make it for the baby tomorrow. It's so late, don't make his eyesight worse. Let's do it tomorrow."

"I'm just bored and have nothing to do, so I'm just idling around anyway."

Tingting said to Jianjun, "Then I'll go to my space and put the things away. Last time, I just threw some things on the ground in my space."

“I’ll go with you. It’s fine for our son to sleep here.”

Holding a card that says "Wild Vegetables Section," "Meat Section," "Dried Fruit Section," and so on.

Ginseng, matsutake mushrooms, deer antlers, and lingzhi mushrooms were stored separately in a cabinet for valuable items.

I separated the mushrooms, peeled the hazelnuts, and started cracking walnuts.

This guy was fine when he wasn't working, but he worked until 3 a.m. After finishing up, he started preparing to sleep, since he was exhausted after a long day.

For two people with obsessive-compulsive disorder, it's really unbearable not to finish this task. Otherwise, how could they become a couple? They must have the same personality.

The two were woken up by their child's crying. "Get up, honey, what time is it?"

“Let me check on my cousin’s wife. It’s 9 o’clock. The kang (heated brick bed) isn’t warm anymore. I’ll get up and check if our son has pooped. Then you can lie down and breastfeed him.”

"Mmm," Tingting mumbled in response, took the baby over, and fed the baby while half asleep.

After changing their son's diaper, Jianjun added some firewood to the kang (a heated brick bed), and the two prepared to go to sleep. After all, they had been too tired lately and could finally sleep in.
