Chapter 33 Gift

Chapter 33 Gift

I have to say that "Thousand Arrows Piercing the Heart" is a very excellent movie.

This movie is a purely realistic feature film, without those action scenes of car chases and explosions, but because the inner drama is powerful, the emotional drama is interesting, and the rivalry is conflicting, it does not feel dragged out or lengthy at all.

The film touches on several core issues in the family: the relationship between husband and wife, the relationship between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law, and the education of children. Although there is no standard answer to each question, it is enough to prompt people to think deeply.

After watching the movie Gu Wei knows that this movie will not have a high box office. It may win awards, but it will definitely not win box office.

This is the current situation of the Chinese film market. Apart from comedies, only commercial blockbusters with high investments and star participation can get high box office.

The only way for low-budget feature films is to win awards.

However, as time goes by, the Chinese film market will become more mature. In the future, realistic feature films like "Dying to Survive" and "Life's Big Events" will also be able to achieve high box office results.

This requires filmmakers to make progress bit by bit, and more importantly, the audience to mature further.

After the premiere, Gu Wei said goodbye to his friends and teacher Wang Qianyuan and returned to the hotel. Zhang Tianai wasn't there, probably having returned to his own place.

Zhang Tianai has been renting a house since she came to Beijing. Her family is well-off and she made a lot of money as a model in her early years. She is not a person who will compromise herself, so she chose to rent a house with a good location and has not moved in the past few years.

Gu Wei had been there several times. The house was not big, but it was decorated very warmly.

Gu Wei's phone rang. He took it out and saw that it was his mother.

I told my family about making a movie last semester, after all, I didn’t go home for the entire summer vacation.

At first, his parents thought it was the crew that Gu Wei had used 200,000 yuan as a gift to get into. Gu Wei gave a brief explanation and said that this opportunity was introduced by a teacher at school.

The movie was released recently, and Gu Wei also told his family the good news. His father didn't respond much, but his mother called him every two or three days, telling him that the movie was really well made and that various relatives at home praised him. He was enjoying it every day.

"Son, are you busy?"

"I'm not busy. I just came back from a promotional trip two days ago."

"Remember to eat on time when you're out there by yourself. Even though work is important, don't overwork yourself," my mother advised earnestly.

"Don't worry, Mom. I'm an adult now and can take care of myself outside."

"I have something to tell you. I've discussed it with your father and want to buy you a house in Beijing."

"Mom, why do you two suddenly want to buy a house?" Gu Wei asked in confusion.

When he first started school, he also persuaded his parents to buy a house in Beijing.

After all, it was only 11 years ago, and buying a house in Beijing was a good deal.

But at that time, his parents did not take his words seriously. They just told him to study hard and not to interfere in adult matters.

"When your dad and I started, we didn't know if you could continue in acting.

Originally, we thought that after graduation, if you didn't make it in the entertainment industry, you could come home and work with your dad, and slowly take over his small factory. That way, you'd never have to worry about food and clothing for the rest of your life.

I didn't expect you to give us such a big surprise after only being in school for a little over a year. My son is now a big star."

Mom said happily.

"What big star? I'm just filming this one movie."

"If a play is good, he can also become a big star. I have mobilized all relatives and friends at home to watch the movie. When they came back, they all praised you, saying that your son's acting was really good and handsome.

You’ll be a big star in the future.”

As my mother spoke, her tone became cheerful again, as if she had thought of something.

"If you can continue your acting career, your father and I will consider buying you a place to stay in Beijing. Whether you are studying now or working after graduation, you will always need a place to live."

Gu Wei thought for a moment and said

"Mom, don't worry. Buying a house is not a small matter. The housing prices in Beijing are not comparable to those in our hometown.

When I get home for the New Year, we can discuss it thoroughly as a family of three. If we're settled, you and my dad can take some time off to come to Beijing and buy a house when school starts next year."

"Okay, listen to my son." Although Gu Wei did not go home after the movie was released, he could feel from his parents' phone calls that they no longer treated him as a child and had more trust in his words.

Then he listened to his mother nagging for a while, telling him to eat on time, not to stay up late, put on more clothes to avoid getting cold, etc.

When he was in college in his previous life, Gu Wei hated his mother's nagging the most. Every time she called to ask for money, he would become impatient listening to her nagging.

Now it sounds quite friendly and I have the patience to respond to her.

A mother worries when her son is away from home. Gu Weiyuan is away from home, and the only thing he can do is to tell his family that everything is fine with him and they don't need to worry. This is the greatest filial piety he can show to his parents.

After hanging up the phone, Gu Wei called the driver, Master Zhang, to pick him up.

After getting in the car, "Master Zhang, take me to the nearest shopping mall."

"Okay, Mr. Gu."

After a while, the car stopped outside the China World Trade Center. Gu Wei put on a baseball cap, sunglasses, and a mask, told the driver to wait for him there, and then walked into the mall.

Now that he was somewhat well-known, Gu Wei would always take care to protect himself when he went out. Even familiar people wouldn't recognize him when he put on his three-piece suit.

After strolling around the mall for a while, Gu Wei walked past a Cartier store and walked in after thinking for a while.

The salesperson greeted me enthusiastically, "Hello, sir, how can I help you?"

The salesperson was probably under 30 years old, very slim, and wearing a professional suit. His exposed wrists and neck were decorated with simple accessories, which made him look very pleasing to the eye overall.

Gu Wei looked around and said, "I want to see the lady's watch."

The salesperson's smile widened. "Sir, please move this way."

Then he led Gu Wei to a counter.

“This counter is full of Cartier’s latest and most popular women’s watches.

Would you like me to introduce them to you one by one?"

Gu Wei glanced at the dazzling array of watches on the counter and pointed to one with a blue dial and strap. "Take this out and let me see it."

The salesperson took out the watch and handed it to Gu Wei, while constantly introducing

“Sir, you have a good eye. This is one of Cartier’s most popular women’s watches – the Cartier Blue Balloon series.

It has a 42mm dial, a Cartier 1847 MC workshop refined automatic winding mechanical movement, a 750‰ rose gold case, a fluted crown, set with a cabochon sapphire, and a blue guilloché dial.

Sword-shaped hands. Sapphire crystal. Navy blue alligator leather strap with interchangeable 750‰ rose gold folding clasp. Wearing it highlights the owner's noble and elegant temperament.

The salesperson talked a lot, but Gu Wei didn't listen carefully. He just thought that the watch was very nice and matched his girlfriend's temperament very well.

He bought the watch as a gift for Zhang Tianai. Zhang Tianai's birthday happened to be at the end of last month, just as "The Blade of the Assassin" was released. As the lead actor and investor, he was always busy, so the two of them had a small meal together to celebrate. He didn't have time to prepare any gifts.

Now that I'm not busy, I can give her the gift. I'm sure she will like it.

"How much?"

"Sir, the total is 135,000 yuan." The salesperson smiled brightly.

"That's it, please pack it up for me." After saying that, he followed the salesperson to the front desk to check out.
