Chapter 26: Holy Light in the Blood Crystal Mine

"What’s wrong with you?"

Mark was also very surprised to see Monica so tired, as if all her magic power had been used up.

While he was identifying his skills, Monica should have been chatting with six young adventurers to kill time. Does chatting consume magic power?

Monica glanced at Mark resentfully and said, "Who knows what kind of weird job you have? I saw that the skill book appraisal couldn't get to the next step, so I applied magic to the appraisal. If I hadn't taken over the appraisal in the end, you would have drained all my magic power."

"You took over the appraisal?"

"Don't worry, I'm helping you on my own initiative. I won't charge you any extra money." Monica suddenly put her arm around Mark's neck and whispered in his ear, "However, your skills will definitely not be successfully authenticated using the appraisal book! You must ask me to authenticate your other two skills as well! I'll give you a discount!"

Mark didn't expect that Monica was still concerned about her business until this moment. Feeling the special elasticity on his back and the faint fragrance lingering around his nose, his body involuntarily wanted to fall back.

Seeing Mark's strange expression, Monica naturally thought of what he was worried about.

"Wait a moment." Monica said as she reached into her breastplate and pulled out a small sheepskin scroll.

She placed the parchment scroll between the two of them, unfolding it to form an A4-sized scroll with a magic circle drawn on it.

"Hold out your hand." Monica said.

Mark didn't know what she was going to do, but looking into her sincere eyes, he could feel Monica's kindness.

So he held out his hand to Monica as he was told.

Mark felt a pain in his fingertips, and a dagger appeared in Monica's hand, cutting his fingertips before he could react.

Mark's blood dripped onto the scroll, and Monica also cut her finger and dripped blood onto the scroll.

Then the parchment scroll suddenly ignited with an ice-blue flame with a "hiss", enveloping the two of them in a cold light barrier.

The laughter of the other six young adventurers suddenly became blurred, as if separated by a layer of flowing water.

"Look carefully! This is a contract scroll soaked in the blood of a Word of Truth monster." She pressed her bloodied finger against the scroll's magic circle, and several snowflake-shaped magic patterns floated up. "I, Monica Bellucci, promise not to reveal any information about Mark Stewart's profession, skills, or items to anyone. If I break this promise, my identification ability will be permanently stripped away!"

The breath with the fragrance of orchids swept across Mark's earlobe, and she suddenly turned the scroll over and pressed it on Mark's chest and said, "It's your turn!"

Through the thin linen shirt, Mark could clearly feel the raised patterns of the hexagram etched on the back of the scroll slowly rotating as she pressed.

"What should I say?" Mark was a little confused by Monica's series of actions. In his memory, the Mantra Contract Scroll was much more precious than any appraisal fee. It was said that this thing was even priceless among high-level professionals.

After all, the contract formation is easy to draw, but not everyone can hunt down the true monster.

"You have to promise to hire me as your exclusive appraiser. All skills and items must be appraised by me! In addition, you will be responsible for my three meals a day!" She tilted her head and smiled slyly. "You don't want your secret to be known by other appraisers, do you?"

"How is it?" She suddenly leaned forward, her long wine-red hair carrying a fragrance that stirred Mark's nose. "Sign it, and you'll have the most talented personal appraiser in the entire continent."

As she moved, the silver scale pendant hanging around her neck slid out of her collar through the smooth groove, reflecting star-like light in the ice-blue light.

In a trance, Mark felt as if he saw the yellow-haired man in some notebooks in his previous life.

But after only a brief thought, he spoke, "I, Mark Stewart, promise that all future appraisals related to professions, skills, and items will be given priority to Monica Bellucci. If I violate this, I will be punished by being watched by the Holy Light."

As soon as he finished speaking, the scroll suddenly burst into ice-blue flames.

The flame enveloped the two people, then quickly shrank until it split into two snowflake-shaped ice flames and merged into the hearts of the two people.

As the ice flame disappeared, the barrier outside the two people's bodies also shattered and disappeared.

The contract between the two was thus established.

"Okay, are you planning to break the contract?" Monica twisted Mark's arm in embarrassment. "You're clearly a clergyman. Punishing you by being watched by the Holy Light is clearly a reward, not a punishment! I want to add additional conditions!"

Mark looked at Monica in surprise. He thought she had seen all the information on his panel, but he didn't expect that she couldn't see the most important special status bar.

“Is it possible that if the costs to both parties of a contract are unequal, the contract will not be established at all?”

Although Mark didn't know why Monica wanted to use the Mantra Contract Scroll to comfort him without seeing his special state of [Holy Light Disgust], he would not agree to any additional terms.

"Ah? Is that so?" Monica rolled her eyes, her expression showing no embarrassment at all. "Oh, now that you mention it, I remember there's such a rule. So, as your exclusive appraiser, you'll appraise me once a day from now on. That's not too much to ask, right?"

"..." Mark looked at Monica speechlessly and said, "So, you want to fleece me every day before signing a contract with me? I don't have the money to ask you to appraise me every day."

"By the Holy Light!" Monica said exaggeratedly, covering her mouth. "You don't think I signed a contract with you just for your gold coins, do you? Do I, Monica Bellucci, look like a money-hungry miser like old Eugene?"

"Then what are you doing this for?"

"Hehe~" Monica chuckled, sitting next to Mark and nudged him with her shoulder. "I just activated your skill by appraising you, and your skill experience increased by 10%! That's enough for me to work on appraisal books for a month! I've never gained experience this fast since I became a mid-level appraiser. I'll be grateful for your good care from now on, Mark."

“…”

“Boom!!!”

Just when Monica felt that she was lucky today and Mark wanted to try to identify the cross necklace, the entire blood crystal mine suddenly shook violently.

The "grave mound" under their feet was shaking violently back and forth in the mine like jelly being shaken.

Screams and screams were heard from near the "grave mound".

Then, a ring of holy light rose from the deep valley at the bottom of the "grave mound", illuminating the entire mine with a snow-white light!
