On the battlefield, the officer wearing heavy armor and holding a rune giant sword was trapped in the crazy siege of four ice-armored dwarves.
These dwarves completely abandoned defense, and every attack was like exchanging their lives for the officer's weakness.
The strong wind brought by the ice-blue giant fist whizzed past the officer's helmet. The heavy black armor was covered with thick frost. Every time he blocked, his muscles ached and his movements inevitably slowed down.
From the corner of his eye, he caught a glimpse of the commotion at the edge and the sudden appearance of Mark's team.
The officer's pupils shrank, and he was filled with rage. He let out a furious roar from his throat: "Little rat! Don't even think about it..."
But he had no time at all, not even enough to take a second glance!
The four icy bodies in front of him rushed towards him regardless of everything, forcing him to deal with it with all his strength.
A touch of cold calculation overwhelmed the anger:
"Run... Once these ice lumps are crushed, neither you nor the Star Heart can escape! They are all the property of the Dark Church!"
He believed that his remaining soldiers were enough to catch up and crush the troublesome bugs after he dealt with the current trouble.
At this moment, the first priority is to maintain the battle formation and strangle these crazy dwarf puppets in front of us.
Time flows amid the clashing of swords and the tearing of flesh and blood.
The battle lasted from daylight until the stars once again shone faintly through the icy mist.
The number of ice dwarves dwindled sharply in the onslaught of despair.
They were not afraid of casualties, and their sophisticated killing machines were ultimately defeated by absolute numbers and the Knights' tenacious positional warfare.
When the officer finally thrust his rune giant sword into the ice crystal chest of the last besieger at the cost of having half of his shoulder armor smashed, all that was left at the edge of the cold pine forest were shattered dark blue ice armor and the corpses of dozens of former Deepfurnace dwarves.
The battlefield was in a mess, and the smell of blood, fireworks and biting cold mixed together filled the air.
The officer leaned on his giant sword, breathing heavily, and looked around with bloodshot eyes under his iron helmet.
The knights he led also paid a huge price. Only a hundred or so were still standing. Most of them were injured and exhausted, but the formation was still maintained.
"Gather the wounded! Search for the remnants..."
The officer gave a hoarse order, turning his target towards the woods and the core area.
However--
In the center of the pile of corpses mixed with dark blue ice crystals and black armor fragments, the space seemed to solidify for a moment.
Immediately afterwards, a starry chill that was far purer and more vast than any previous moment suddenly descended!
It was like the sleeping core of a glacier suddenly awakened!
The pile of corpses slid away silently, and Torge's two-meter-tall ice crystal body stood up again intact.
The ice armor covering his body was as deep as the frozen night sky, and the star-blue light flowing on his body was more than ten times stronger than during the day!
The empty eye sockets seemed to have turned into two tiny cold stars, slowly sweeping across the devastated battlefield.
The next second, an incredible scene happened.
Torge didn't make any sound, but slowly raised a palm covered with thick blue ice and pressed his palm downward.
On the ground were the dwarf corpses covered by the broken ice armor that he had just glanced at.
Those [Star Ice Despair Dwarves] who died in the battle, no matter their limbs were broken or their chests and abdomens were pierced, their frozen wounds and blood vessels suddenly lit up with dazzling blue starlight!
The ice crystal armor that had lost its luster once again glowed with an icy blue light, and the broken parts healed and reinforced themselves under the flowing starlight as if they were a living thing!
Dozens of frozen corpses huddled together amid the harsh sound of ice crystals rubbing against each other, ignoring their fatal injuries and broken joints.
As if being suddenly pulled by an invisible string, they stood up again from the cold pool of blood in a stiff and synchronized manner!
In the empty eye sockets, the ice-blue vortex ignited again, silently locking onto the terrified dark knights in the field!
Those whose chests were smashed, whose arms were chopped off, and even whose heads were torn in half...
They stood up, and what flowed from their wounds was no longer blood, but a sticky, frozen deep blue light!
The officer felt as if he were nailed to the spot by an ice pick, and his heart seemed to be frozen at this moment.
He finally understood!
"...in your...body!"
He screamed, his voice filled with unprecedented fear and disbelief. "The Heart of the Star Skeleton... was swallowed by you! You sacrificed your entire tribe to it... and merged yourself into the core?!"
Torge is not a carrier at all. He is now the final destination of the power of the Star Heart and the embodiment of its will!
Those dwarves who come one after another are nothing but the cold minions extending from the core power!
Torg's body, covered with deep ice armor and as moving as a glacier, paused slightly.
The star-blue vortex spinning wildly in the empty eye sockets froze in an instant like a frozen torrent.
An indescribable feeling of heaviness replaced the previous pure will to destruction, as if a mountain that had been exhausted for countless years had regained consciousness.
The officers were staring in horror at the terrifying army that had resurrected from the dead, but Torge's throat, covered with ice crystals, uttered low and clear syllables, and each word carried a heavy echo like the cracking of ice.
"...It's over, this meaningless biting..."
He slowly surveyed the silent formation, flowing with star-blue, formed by the corpses of his tribe. "The chains that have entangled Graybeard and Deep Furnace for centuries... This rift... has been strangled by it, and by me... for too long..."
The night wind seemed to be holding its breath and listening.
Those icy blue eyes finally reflected the shadow of this land stained by blood and ice, no longer just a hollow reflection of destruction.
"...The shackles are broken."
Torge raised his huge palm covered with thick ice and gently brushed it across the icy face of a dwarf corpse beside him, his movements with a mechanical tenderness.
The blue light in the corpse's eye sockets began to flow slightly, as if there was a faint response.
"The Deep Furnace... has not perished. The old body... slumbers in the dust and ice. The new... awakens... in this starry blue."
He looked towards the distant snow-filled rift valley, which led to the Arctic ice field and the vast yet unfamiliar world.
"We... should go and see the world."
His gaze finally fell back on the officer, who was surrounded and in a state of disarray. His face, covered in ice crystals, showed no expression, but conveyed a deep chill.
"Before you leave this cage... sending you on your journey is... the first sacrifice."
The officer was gasping for breath, his face pale from blood loss and cold.
But when he knew that Torge had merged with the core, his face suddenly twisted into an ecstatic and hideous smile.
"Hahahaha!" He suddenly straightened his hunched body, and his hoarse laughter sounded particularly harsh and crazy in the silent battlefield.
"Idiot! Admit it! You icy monster finally admits it!" He glared at Torge, his eyes burning with greed and utter venom. "Spit it out! Perhaps I can even make you, this pile of ice... die with dignity!"
