Chapter 610 Controlling the Scene

“Monica.” Ellen needed no further explanation.

Monica nodded slightly, her figure disappearing silently into the shadows beside the church door, like an ink droplet falling into water.

As a shadow assassin and appraiser, she is naturally the best infiltrator.

The interior of the church was even more desolate and dark than the exterior, with only a few eternal lamps casting a dim yellow light that illuminated the dusty pews and the empty pulpit.

The cloying, pungent smell grew stronger, its source being underground!

Like an invisible ghost, Monica bypassed several hidden warning runes and silently sneaked into the depths of the church, where she found and opened the secret door leading to the cellar.

An overwhelming stench of blood, decay, and demonic energy instantly assaulted the nostrils!

Monica suppressed her discomfort, enveloped herself in shadow, and quietly slipped inside.

The sight in the cellar made Monica, who had already witnessed all sorts of strange things on the mainland, hold her breath and her pupils shrink instantly.

The cellar of this church has clearly been completely converted into a blasphemous altar.

The countless bones were carefully piled up into a slowly rotating vortex-like structure several meters in diameter.

At the center of the vortex, suspended in the air, was a core that pulsated and emitted a viscous, foul black light, like an evil heart.

What's even more chilling is that each wave of bone in the vortex is embedded with a town resident!

They seemed to be forcibly attached to the skeleton by some force, their eyes wide open but devoid of any spirit.

His body was shriveled up like a withered branch that had been drained of moisture, his skin clinging tightly to his bones, and his skin was a dull, deathly gray.

Faint, pale white life energy threads, visible to the naked eye, are being forcibly extracted from these zombie-like townspeople and fed into the pulsating, filthy core at the center.

The entire altar exuded an aura of despair and death, creating a visually suffocating impact.

Clearly, this is the human-faced vortex altar where the "wild god" draws life and faith!

Monica suppressed her churning stomach acid and, relying on her professional instincts, quickly scanned the entire altar structure, trying to find the point where it could be destroyed.

Her gaze swept across the base of the altar, and out of the corner of her eye, she caught sight of an inconspicuous corner at the bottom of the base, where a peculiar symbol seemed to be carved.

The symbol's lines were twisted and bizarre, forming an abstract and sinister eye outline.

The pupil resembled a tiny vortex, emitting extremely faint residual fluctuations that Monica could hardly detect if she hadn't been so perceptive.

The familiar-looking symbol gave her an extremely uncomfortable feeling, even more unsettling than the bloody altar itself.

However, at this moment, the pulsation at the core of the altar suddenly intensified, and the filthy black light in the center surged, as if it were sensing the presence of outsiders!

Monica felt a chill run down her spine. Without bothering to carefully examine the eye symbol, she quickly retreated from the terrifying cellar, like water flowing into the shadows, temporarily putting the unusual eye symbol out of her mind.

On the ground, Elaine leaned against a mottled stone pillar outside the church, closing her eyes as if to meditate and sense the strange phenomena underground.

When Monica emerged from the shadows and quickly reported the horrific scene in the cellar, Eileen slowly opened her eyes.

Upon hearing Monica's description of the "human-faced vortex altar," a smile crept onto her lips. After a moment's thought, she knew exactly what the wild god hidden in this place was.

Now that she's a legend, she's confident she can deal with this wild god!

She made no comment on the "eye symbol" Monica mentioned, as if it were just an insignificant speck of dust.

“It seems,” she said in a languid voice, carrying an undeniable determination, as she straightened up slightly.

The invisible pressure emanating from him, belonging to a legendary powerhouse, was like a dormant volcano slowly awakening, and the surrounding air seemed to freeze slightly.

"The worm that likes to hide underground and gnaw on carrion has finally set out its meal."

She didn't even glance at the tightly closed church doors, her right hand slightly open.

Buzz—!

Eighty-eight black gold coins, as if drawn by invisible threads, instantly appeared from the void around her, hovering above her palm, radiating a cool starlight that was completely out of place in this environment tainted by demonic energy.

The core Star Moon Black Gold Mother Coin flows with a deep silver luster.

“Go, light up this filthy corner.” Ellen snapped her fingers.

Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh!

Dozens of streaks of silver and black light shot out instantly!

They penetrate the church's thick stone walls, roof, and foundation, embedding themselves in specific nodes within and outside the church's space.

Some were nailed into wall cracks, some sank deep underground, and some were suspended from roof beams.

As the last coin was placed, Elaine formed an intricate star-moon mudra with her hands in front of her chest and uttered a few obscure syllables.

Buzz—!!!

A semi-transparent energy field, flowing with starlight and moonlight, suddenly rose from the center of the church!

It is like a giant net woven from starlight, completely enveloping the entire church building and its underground space.

Star and Moon Magic Array - Spatial Anchoring!

In an instant, the pulsation of the filthy core within the cellar abruptly stopped!

The spatial distortion and energy dissipation generated when the altar was in operation were forcibly suppressed and locked!

The entire church cellar seemed to have been stripped of its dimension, temporarily isolated into an independent cage.

"The space... is locked! Who is it?!"

A surge of chaotic and furious thoughts, like a viscous slick of oil, exploded from the depths of the cellar.

Attempting to break through the enveloping star network, they hissed the moment they touched the starlight and were purified and eliminated.

This is precisely Eileen's control of the situation.

Cut off the wild gods' possible escape routes and greatly interfere with their control over the outside world and the altar itself.

"The bug nest has been found, and the sheep pen is secured." Elaine clapped her hands, as if brushing away non-existent dust, and said to the tense Mark's team, "Time to go in and clean up. I'm a mage, so I won't participate in melee combat; that's your job!"

Her tone was languid, as if setting up these formations had exhausted her energy.

Mark certainly wouldn't criticize her for looking nothing like a mage when she transformed into a silver-armored female warrior.

After all, Ellen was accompanying their team on their training.

The main fighting force should definitely be their squad members!

"Understood!" Mark took a deep breath, the cross necklace on his chest feeling slightly warm.

He took the lead, and the heavy wooden church door crumbled inward like rotten wood under the bombardment of Enzo's rune-forged hammer infused with dark magic!

A thick, pungent stench, a mixture of sweet and pungent incense, putrid smells, and filthy demonic energy, hit me as if it were a tangible thing!

The team filed in.

"This way!" Monica whispered, leading the group straight to the secret door she had discovered earlier.

The hidden door swung open with a single arrow from Anna, imbued with the power of shadow, and the nauseating stench wafted out even more intensely.

Enter the cellar!
