Chapter 47: Injured during the arena match, rushed to the infirmary! ...
Two days passed in this way. This morning, after practice, Feng Qi pulled Pei Qing aside.
How are things going on your end?
"I've been conducting experiments on the seventh basement level for the past few days. I've pretty much figured out the structure of the seventh level. I've identified two suspicious areas, but I can't get them through facial recognition."
Feng Qi pondered for a moment, then said, "Alright, I think I understand."
As she spoke, she erected a mental energy shield beside the two of them and whispered in Pei Qing's ear, "Turansen has recently made some gadgets. Next time you go to the lab, find an opportunity..."
"good."
After spending these past few days together, Pei Qing had gained a better understanding of Turansen. She was truly a remarkable person, a genuine technical talent. Even with the extremely scarce materials in the prison, she could still tinker with so many interesting gadgets; she was truly impressive.
Pei Qing looked at the several exquisite mechanical objects in her hand, each the size of an inconspicuous little button, and couldn't help but sigh. She had heard Turansen say that these things were equivalent to miniature multi-functional robots, and could evade most detection signals, making them very practical.
She pressed the small button against her neck, and a tiny tentacle emerged, opening its tip to swallow the button. Pei Qing recently discovered another wonderful use for the tentacle: storage.
There seems to be a magical space inside the limb; whatever you put in will come out in the same form it takes.
Whether it's liquid water or solid food containers, they can all be stored inside, making it very discreet and portable. She used this ability to evade routine body searches by laboratory personnel on several occasions, secretly placing the multi-functional little robot into the lab.
The touch bar is so useful! She can't wait to unlock more new features!
Pei Qing also discovered that if more spiritual energy could be absorbed, the changes in the tendrils would become more numerous and realistic, even including some small living creatures.
This was "accidentally" discovered when she and 0779 were playing too roughly one time...
Cough cough, well, there's nothing she can do about it. She only has this one mental energy replenishment pack around her right now... Wait, strictly speaking, Luo Yu should also be considered one, but why is there almost no mental energy transfer between the two of them when they're exercising?
Thinking of the mysterious pattern on 0779's belly that day, Pei Qing frowned. Could it be related to that strange pattern?
If there's anything different about Luo Yu compared to Xiao Jiu, besides the pattern, there's another point: Luo Yu has never had "direct" contact with the tendrils, cough cough, the kind of contact that's at a negative distance.
But Xiao Jiu has not only come into contact with it, but has come into contact with it many times. Is the formation of the pattern directly related to the tactile branches?
Pei Qing thought that when she went to the lab tomorrow, she might be able to secretly try it out...
"Don't forget that the preliminary arena competition starts tonight. With your current strength, you don't need to worry too much. But there's one thing I hope you can do: be cautious and don't act rashly." Feng Qi waved to Pei Qing and turned to leave.
"Okay, I understand, don't worry about it."
Pei Qing's attitude was somewhat nonchalant. Her strength was already recognized by Feng Qi, the number one powerhouse on the overall ranking. It was just a small beginner arena match, so she must have won by crushing her opponent.
She was so confident that even when she was stabbed by her opponent halfway through the match, she was still wondering why the referee hadn't announced her victory yet.
The sharp pain coursed through her body, and the gasps from the audience made her dizzy. "It's so noisy! What are they shouting about?"
Through her blurry vision, Pei Qing saw her opponent, who should have fallen, stagger to her feet and stab her again and again.
She then realized what was happening and hurriedly tried to raise her hand to block, but somehow, what should have been a quick movement was now as if a slow-motion filter had been applied, and her opponent easily kicked her aside.
The moment she closed her eyes completely, Pei Qing thought, "I was so careless. Next time... I definitely can't do it again... I don't even know if I'll be alive for next time..."
While unconscious, she only heard Feng Qi rushing onto the field and shouting anxiously. He picked her up and shouted to the referee that he had conceded defeat.
This should have been a sure victory, but her carelessness led to this outcome. Pei Qing's mind grew increasingly muddled, and after a long and bumpy ride, she was gently placed on the bed.
"Doctor! Doctor! Is there a doctor here? Someone is injured. Please stop the bleeding as soon as possible!"
Feng Qi's anxious shouts drifted further and further away in her mind...
Pei Qing slowly closed her eyes. She was a little tired; perhaps she should just fall asleep...
The doctor in the white coat was sitting behind his desk, leisurely twirling a pen, pondering how to dissuade him...
He had just begun to think when he was interrupted by an urgent knocking on the door. Reluctantly, he stood up and said, "Hello, may I ask who you are—"
"Doctor! She's injured! In her abdomen! It's a knife wound, a serious one!"
The doctor's previously gentle facade crumbled completely when he saw the person lying in a pool of blood. How could this person be so inconsiderate, getting themselves into such a sorry state after only a few days apart?
He quickly prepared hemostatic equipment, performed the most basic hemostasis work on the injured person, and then pushed the person into the medical ward.
Thirty minutes later, seeing the test results on the medical pod's display screen, he breathed a sigh of relief. Fortunately, the patient was brought in time; if it had been five minutes later, it probably wouldn't have been just a matter of excessive blood loss.
The medical pod's hatch slowly descended, revealing Pei Qing's pale face; her lips were devoid of color. The healing potion inside the pod had been stained red; she had lost too much blood and hadn't woken up even after treatment and being out of danger.
"Doctor, how is she?" Feng Qi looked at the doctor's expressionless face and silent expression, thinking that Pei Qing was about to die. His usual composure had completely disappeared, and he asked anxiously.
"It's alright, the patient is out of danger." The doctor seemed to have just realized what was happening and let out a long sigh of relief.
"That's good." Feng Qi finally felt relieved and rushed into the medical room. "But doctor, why hasn't she woken up yet? Is she really alright?"
The doctor brought in a dose of nutritional supplements and, seeing the situation, said slowly, "She's just overexerted herself; it's nothing serious. A few doses of nutritional supplements and some rest will do the trick."
“Okay…” Feng Qi nodded, turned around and said, “Then we’ll have to trouble the doctor to take care of her for a while. We have other things to do, so we’ll be leaving now.”
"Yes, I will."
The doctor stood motionless beside the medical pod, his hand outstretched as if to touch something.
Feng Qi felt that the doctor's attitude was a bit strange, but she didn't think about it too much. After giving a few instructions, she left. Her plans had changed a bit in the past few days, and she needed to confirm everything carefully.
"Click." The door to the infirmary closed.
"You're such a worry... Didn't I tell you to come with me? You just didn't trust me, and now you've gotten yourself into this mess." The doctor gently stroked the woman's face, brushing aside a few strands of damp hair, his tone soft, like a loving whisper.
Suddenly, a sharp pain shot through his neck. He reached up and touched it, finding his fingertips stained with bright red blood. The doctor frowned. What had happened?
He heard a whooshing sound overhead and looked up sharply, but it was too late. Several dark tendrils gripped his neck tightly and lifted him into the air.
The doctor struggled desperately, but the force of the branch was immense, the air in his throat gradually thinned, and his handsome face gradually swelled into a purplish-red color.
Seeing the situation was dire, he flicked his wrist, and a sharp silver light appeared between his fingers, which he swiftly slashed at the tentacle. However, the tentacle was extremely tough, and his efforts were in vain, still tightly constricting his neck.
"Hoh—hoh—, ah..." His breathing became increasingly difficult, his lungs burning, like an old bellows about to break, spinning rapidly.
"Splash—" It was the sound of viscous liquid being splashed. The doctor subconsciously turned his head, but the tether around his neck prevented him from moving, so he could only try to glance at it out of the corner of his eye.
It was Female A, who should have been lying unconscious in the medical pod. She stood up, her head bowed, her dark, tousled hair obscuring her eyes and making it impossible to see her expression. Thick medical supplies were dripping from her body.
He reached out in vain, trying to offer some kind of reminder.
However, the next second, woman A raised her head. She seemed a little confused and tilted her head. There was not a trace of white left in her dark eyes. They were black holes, like an abyss that could devour everything. She stared intently at the person hanging in front of her.
Even though he couldn't see her eyes clearly, the doctor inexplicably felt that she was staring at him, and a strong sense of danger washed over him, like being watched by a predator in a dense forest, filled with an inorganic coldness.
Instantly, a deep chill surged into my heart, making me shudder uncontrollably and my body tremble.
He gripped the branch with both hands, trying to create some breathing space. His mind raced as he tried to think of a way to escape. Suddenly, he felt a cool, sticky liquid slide down his lips.
At some point, female A found herself face to face with him, her empty eyes staring at him, her cold fingers brushing against his face, and thick healing potion dripping down her sleeves.
It fell into his collar, which had been open at some point, into his mouth, into his nose, or perhaps down his curved back, into something deeper...
The healing potion was ice-cold, yet his body slowly warmed up. It was as if the potion had turned into alcohol or some other flammable substance, and an invisible flame seemed to be burning fiercely and uncontrollably along the path of the dripping liquid.
Soft, moist lips drew near, less than a centimeter from the heart. The rounded top of her hair swayed as she meticulously licked it, as if savoring some exquisite delicacy, occasionally tearing and biting fiercely. Her gleaming white teeth pierced through her honey-colored skin, leaving bloody streaks without any mercy.
The man held his head high, biting his arm tightly, unwilling to utter a single ambiguous breath. The tentacles that had been tightly wrapped around his neck had loosened and were now wreaking havoc on other parts of his body.
A woman's pale lips were stained with a vibrant color, and the blood added a touch of life to her inhuman face, making it appear softer.
Her body writhed eerily, like some kind of mollusk; anyone who accidentally glimpsed the scene inside the infirmary would surely scream in terror.
The lower half of Female A's body had completely transformed into bloated, twisted, pitch-black tentacles, with pure black eyes. Her chest remained completely still, like a lifeless corpse, showing no trace of humanity.
The numerous, jet-black tendrils occupied every corner of the infirmary.
The man's clothes had been completely corroded, and he was utterly submerged in the surging, dark waves, his expression a mixture of pain and pleasure...
