Chapter 133 Reincarnation and Reconstruction (Grand Finale) ...
Pei Qing had another dream. In her dream, she was wandering alone in a vast, boundless sea of stars. It was pitch black all around, with no signs of any other life. She was all alone, drifting, drifting...
"Pei Qing! Pei Qing!" came an anxious voice calling in my ear.
"Um," Pei Qing opened her eyes with difficulty, her mind somewhat dazed, "Um, what's wrong with me?"
Feng Qi helped her raise her chair with concern and said worriedly, "You were emitting chaotic spiritual energy just now, and you were muttering something I couldn't understand."
"Ah, haha, it's nothing, just a strange dream," Pei Qing propped herself up, stretched, and walked around inside the starship.
She looked out the porthole at the pitch-black sea of stars, with only a few distant stars twinkling and dimming.
"Are we almost at our destination?" Pei Qing asked.
Feng Qi walked to her side and said softly, "Well, it will take about half an hour. We'll need to perform another quantum leap to reach that galaxy."
"Um."
Yellow sand filled the sky, the Gobi Desert was rugged, and Pei Qian stood on the hard rock layer, looking at the gray sky.
"How can there be any living organisms here in such a harsh environment?" Feng Qi frowned and shouted as he stared at the raging hurricane.
"Impossible! My survey report can't be wrong! The coordinates are right here! Ugh! Damn it, I've swallowed a mouthful of sand!" Turansen returned to the starship in less than a minute.
“Feng Qi, I sensed a definite energy fluctuation. He… is right here.” Pei Qing’s gaze was deep, and his mental sea surged with waves.
“Okay! I’ll go with you!” Feng Qi grabbed her arm, his expression resolute. “I can sense that the atmosphere here is chaotic and dangerous. I must—”
“No, you should go back,” Pei Qing gently took her hand away, her tone soft yet resolute. “There are some things that only I can solve, and that I must solve.”
“But—” Feng Qi asked anxiously.
"Go back, don't worry, I brought a signal transmitter." Pei Qing smiled, and a tentacle reached out, quietly wrapping around Feng Qi's waist before he was paying attention, and sending him to the starship.
"etc!"
"Bang—!" The starship's hatch slammed shut. Feng Qi glared angrily at the crew members beside him. "Who told you to close it!"
"No, I didn't turn it off, it turned off automatically! And I can't turn it back on!" The crew member's face was filled with fear and confusion.
"How could this happen..." Feng Qi turned and walked towards the control room.
"Report, Captain! The starship engines have automatically started! And the course has been set!" the first mate shouted.
"Where is our destination?" Feng Qi gripped the back of the chair tightly.
"Federal Capital Star!"
"Okay, I understand." Feng Qi slumped weakly in the control room. It was Pei Qing; she had started the starship to send them back to the capital planet. Had she foreseen something? Or...?
"Captain! Look outside!" a cry of alarm rang out beside him.
Feng Qi quickly looked out the window. Suddenly, strips of blue light rose into the dark night sky, like thin gauze or a clear glow, as beautiful as the aurora borealis.
A sudden sense of foreboding washed over her, and she frantically changed the control keys, shouting, "Go back! Return to the desolate planet immediately!"
"Captain, the system is locked! It cannot be changed!"
The starship was thrown into chaos once again.
Pei Qing walked along, stopping occasionally to admire the scenery, seemingly in no hurry at all. She walked for an unknown amount of time before finally stopping.
Tick-tock, tick-tock...
She pressed her ear to the rock layer and listened intently; the sound of water was coming from beneath it. The tentacles stretched out fully, forcefully drilling through the rock layer.
Below was a narrow, dark, and deep cave, where not a single ray of light could penetrate.
Pei Qian had a premonition that all the answers she wanted to know were right here.
The moment Pei Qing stepped into the cave, his whole body trembled, and the gray-black particles deep in his mind surged and broke through the long-standing barrier!
Those long-hidden memories flooded into her mind all at once, and Pei Qing's vision went black as she fell into a coma.
A viscous fluid silently appeared beside Pei Qing, twisting and transforming into a pale, naked man.
It was Pei Yu, who had long since disappeared.
Pei Yu held the unconscious person in his arms, cheek to cheek, muttering incoherent and fanatical babbling, "Soon, very soon, soon, sister will be fully recovered, and then she'll be by my side forever..."
...
Starry Sea, Federal Government, Research Institute, Laboratory... countless images flashed by. Pei Qing seemed to be trapped in an unknown realm, unable to speak or move, only able to passively receive those distant memories.
"These are all things you've experienced," an inorganic voice suddenly rang out, ethereal and hollow. A phantom, semi-transparent figure slowly appeared before Pei Qing. The figure turned around, and 'she' had the same face as her.
"001? You, aren't you dead?" Pei Qing stared at the phantom in astonishment.
“001 is the number those researchers gave me, my real name, or rather, the name of my race, ‘Hive.’” 001 gestured, and an image of a huge creature appeared before Pei Qing’s eyes.
It was ethereal and illusory, like a veil of mist, composed of a large number of tiny, black, twisting particles that constantly changed shape, finally settling into countless clawing tentacles, the very tentacles that Pei Qing was most familiar with.
"'Insect hives' originate from the depths of a higher-dimensional universe. Their external forms vary, but without exception, they are all composed of countless tiny particles of consciousness, possessing a unified ideology, that is, a dominant consciousness, a unique system at the spiritual level." 01 seemed to know all of Pei Qing's questions, like a dutiful intelligent guide.
"They live in symbiosis with the so-called assimilation ability, which is both an inducing predation signal and a way to reproduce and survive. Finding a host is a program instruction engraved in the genes of every insect hive at birth. Some may find one quickly and begin their journey of survival, while others may wander in the universe for their entire lives until the next cycle begins."
Pei Qing suddenly realized she could speak, "So, I am the main consciousness of this insect hive..."
“Yes and no. To be precise, you belong to the primary consciousness of the second rebirth of the hive. When the hive is on the verge of ‘death,’ another primary consciousness will spontaneously be born, so you did not fully inherit the memories,” 001 corrected. “To make it easier for you to understand, I will refer to ‘I’ as the primary consciousness from now on.”
"Since my birth, I have been searching for a suitable place to live. After drifting in the sea of stars for tens of thousands of years, I was told by the particles of consciousness that there are planets with abundant spiritual energy in the lower dimensions that can serve as a place to live and thrive."
"On my way to my target habitat, I was struck by a rare plasma hurricane, which caused almost devastating damage to my body. My energy was insufficient to continue to the target location, so I was forced to come to a barren dimensional sea, which is the star system where the Federation is located."
“I slept for a long time before waking up, and when I did, I found the energy to be even weaker. I lost my ‘outer shell’ under the impact of the plasma hurricane, and almost all of my energy was lost, leaving only the primordial energy to sustain me. I began to wander and search in this sea of stars.” 001 held up a ball of fluorescent blue light.
"Wait a minute, no wonder I felt these energy sources could replenish my energy. It turns out they all come from the same source." Pei Qing suddenly realized.
“That’s right,” 001 nodded gently. “I started learning about the way of life of the creatures in the Star Sea and tried to integrate into their lives. Later, when I was wandering, I rescued a human male, who became my first subject.”
"Due to insufficient energy to nourish me, my consciousness is growing weaker and weaker. Sensing that a secondary consciousness was about to be born, I took the initiative to seek help from Feng Lin. I found this barren dimension very interesting, and I wanted to continue observing it, so I deliberately sealed my main consciousness and hid it deep within your spiritual sea."
"What about those alien insect viruses? What's the deal with those viruses? And Pei Yu? Why did he do that?" Pei Qing asked again.
"That child possesses my primordial energy and shares my memories. He seems to sense my gradually weakening consciousness and is quietly preparing something."
"As for the Zerg virus, the outer shell of the Zerg hive possesses powerful energy, but it also contains pollution and radiation, all of which are the result of pollution. I once thought about eliminating it all and developing a habitat, but I found this barren world to be more interesting than I imagined, and I couldn't make a choice." 001's figure became increasingly transparent.
"Therefore, I will give you the choice."
“Leave it to me…” Pei Qing murmured to himself. So, Pei Yu was that child. All he did was accelerate the development of the hostage area. He thought that this way, 001 could be restored.
Thinking of those familiar faces, Pei Qing felt she had found the answer in her heart: "How can I eliminate assimilation and reverse it?"
"The method to clear away assimilation is simple: just let the scattered energy return to its original form."
"Now, close your eyes and carefully sense the flow of spiritual energy." After 001 finished speaking, his body disappeared.
Pei Qing closed her eyes, feeling her consciousness sink into a chaotic void, incredibly heavy and disordered, her spiritual power gradually dissipating...
Inside the cave, Pei Yu suddenly noticed that the person in his arms was breathing weaker and weaker, his heartbeat was slowing down, and a fluorescent blue light was constantly emanating from his body.
"No, no, no!" Pei Yu stretched out his hands in vain, trying to catch the particles, but it was all in vain.
He caught nothing.
Fluorescent blue particles filled the sky and drifted across the starry sky. The Federation troops, who were engaged in fierce fighting, suddenly noticed that the Zerg in front of them were moving more and more slowly, and fluorescent blue light was emanating from the Zerg, whose bodies were gradually dissipating.
Feng Lin seemed to sense something and looked up at the bright light outside the window.
Far away on the front lines, in sanatoriums, in intelligence offices, on starships... those who had had deep contact with Pei Qing felt something in their mental sea shatter rapidly and then completely disappear.
Someone shouted, "Look!" Everyone looked up.
Countless fluorescent blue particles shimmered and fell into every corner, as day and night alternated, finally settling into a still image.
In the vast and boundless sea of stars, patterns symbolizing infinity and reincarnation emerge, flickering as if alive with the rhythm of their breath.
Death is not the end, but symbolizes the next rebirth and reincarnation, with each reincarnation representing a new beginning.
...
January 1, 355 of the Federal Calendar.
Due to the profound influence of ancient Eastern culture on Earth, most planets took a Spring Festival holiday. The streets were decorated with lanterns and colorful streamers, and everyone celebrated together, creating a lively and festive atmosphere.
The federal capital planet, which enjoys a spring-like climate year-round, was hit by a cold wave, and it snowed, a rare occurrence, turning the world into a white wonderland.
A tall figure walked into the Federal Parliament building. The security guard was about to call the person to register when he suddenly realized he had forgotten something important and hurriedly left.
The woman smiled slightly and headed straight for the marshal's office. Her black hair fell over her shoulders. She brushed the snowflakes from her head and began to knock on the door.
"Knock knock knock".
"Please come in."
A soft footstep was heard as the person walked to the desk and casually turned off the screen.
Feng Lin frowned, about to reprimand, when she heard the person laugh. She looked up, her eyes filled with disbelief.
"haven't seen you for a long time."
The man poured himself a cup of tea and spoke with a smile.
Feng Lin smiled too, quickly wiping her eyes, her voice hoarse.
Welcome back.
