Chapter 243: Hot
The location chosen by Li Yansheng was an undeveloped mountain, but there was already a homestay on the mountainside.
The first half of the journey was along a winding road, which was not easy to drive on, so we had to slow down. So, it took us three hours to get to the B&B.
The weather was too hot, and Lin Shutang fell asleep halfway through the journey. He slept so soundly that he didn't wake up until the car stopped.
Li Yansheng didn't wake her up. He left the window open and turned down the air conditioner before getting out of the car and going to check in. Then, he returned and carried her down from the car.
Lin Shutang drowsily opened her eyes and glanced at Li Yansheng, but it was too hard to wake up during the day. She just glanced, confirmed it was Li Yansheng, and went back to sleep.
When passing by the front desk, I happened to meet Chen Jinyao who was checking in, and Zhang Wanxin was sitting on the sofa next to him waiting.
Seeing Li Yansheng carrying Lin Shutang in like a child, they were both surprised.
I have never seen Li Yansheng and Lin Shutang interacting in private before.
I already knew that Li Yansheng cared about this little girl, but I didn't expect him to dote on her so much. With his temperament, it's hard to tell that he has this side to him.
It was around five in the afternoon when Lin Shutang woke up. Seeing no one in the room, she got out of bed. Her slippers were already placed by the bed. They were from home, probably put there by Li Yansheng.
She casually slipped away, wanting to find Li Yansheng, and then she heard a voice coming from the door.
The walls of the room were made of wood, so it wasn't very soundproof. Lin Shutang heard Chen Jinyao say, "Is Shutang still awake?"
Li Yansheng: "Yeah."
"I just asked, and they said we can have dinner at 5:30. Wake them up around that time, otherwise they won't be able to eat later."
Li Yansheng: "Okay."
Then, muffled footsteps were heard.
Before Li Yansheng put in the room card, Lin Shutang opened the door first.
"woke up?"
"Um."
Thinking of her physical condition, Li Yansheng asked, "Are you feeling unwell anywhere?"
Feeling the concern in his words, Lin Shutang smiled and shook his head: "No."
After dinner, Lin Shutang and Li Yansheng didn't rush back to their rooms, but took a short walk outside to help digest their food. The scenery at the B&B was quite nice, and the owner was a patient man, having planted many hydrangeas. Perhaps it was because the temperature was lower up in the mountains than down there, but at this time of year, the hydrangeas were no longer visible down there, but were in full bloom up there.
Most of them are light blue, with a few white and pale pink. In the not-too-bright evening light, they form a patchwork, like blue fabric dotted with different-colored patterns, which is very beautiful.
Lin Shutang let go of his hand and went close to the flower to smell it.
Li Yansheng never took his eyes off the person in his sight, just looking at her.
As he got closer, the previous fragrance became stronger, but not overpowering. Lin Shutang took a deep sniff, as if trying to absorb the scent into his heart and memorize it. Then he realized that his movements at this moment seemed a little unsteady.
Then he stood up again and looked at Li Yansheng, and then he saw him looking at him with a smile on his face.
They had been together for a long time, but at this moment, Lin Shutang still felt that the gaze was too intense. So, he said a little embarrassedly: "I've had enough of shopping, let's go!"
Then, without waiting for Li Yansheng, he walked up the wooden steps and headed towards their room.
Li Yansheng didn't move, but his eyes followed her until he saw her enter the room, then he looked away.
Chen Jinyao arrived early and saw the two of them walking here. He wanted to ask Li Yansheng something, but he didn't disturb them. He waited until Lin Shutang left before coming over.
The two men stopped at the corridor. Chen Jinyao asked, "Why did you suddenly want to go hiking? Don't tell me you just wanted to take a break on a whim."
In the past, when things were busier than this, Li Yansheng rarely went out to relax. At most, he'd use meetings with competitors as a chance to relax briefly. But most of those times were for work, unlike this time, when there was no work involved at all; he was simply out for fun.
Chen Jinyao could guess that Li Yansheng did this because of Lin Shutang, but the details were still unclear.
