Chapter 58: Morning After
Maybe it was a good timing, but after they finished their meal, Li Yansheng's assistant came in. He was holding a bag of medicine and handed it to Lin Shutang.
Lin Shutang originally thought it was an antidote, so he opened the bag and took a casual look, only to find that there was not only an antidote inside, but also a tube of ointment and a box of levonorgestrel tablets.
Lin Shutang took out the box of capsules and looked at Li Yansheng.
The other person looked over but said nothing. This medicine must be what he asked to prepare. Lin Shutang lowered his head, smiled bitterly from an angle where he couldn't see, then broke off two pills and swallowed them.
After that, neither of them said a word until they got on the bus. Li Yansheng got on first and sat down by the window. Lin Shutang didn't move closer to him. There was only half a seat between them, but it felt like a river between them.
Seeing that the situation was not right, Fan Sizhu consciously raised the baffle to block the view from the back row.
When they arrived downstairs at the rental house, Lin Shutang got out of the car with the bag of medicine in her hand.
The coldness on her face was gone. She and Li Yansheng were, at best, just sex buddies; there was no love between them. So it was perfectly normal for Li Yansheng to ask her to take the medicine.
She bent down slightly, smoothed her hair while standing by the car, a faint smile on her pretty face, and said politely, "Thank you for last night, Mr. Li."
Her words seemed simple, but it depended on how the listener interpreted them. It could be a thank you for taking her in, or a thank you for being her "antidote."
After saying that, without waiting for the people in the car to respond, Lin Shutang carried the medicine upstairs without asking any other questions.
At around six o'clock in the evening, Lin Shutang was still catching up on his sleep in bed when he received a call from the Feng family.
"Hello."
"Come back tonight." The person who called was Feng Chengchuan. In the past, Zhao Lanzhi always called her when she had something to do, but this was the first time Feng Chengchuan called her.
"good."
Lin Shutang did not refuse. Some things really needed to be resolved.
At 7:52, the taxi stopped in front of Feng's house and Lin Shutang got out with a handbag.
The Feng family's home was still the same as when she left, with no changes. When Zhao Lanzhi said she wanted to renovate the house, it was really just an excuse to force her to leave.
After Lin Shutang went in, she didn't see the Feng couple, so she didn't care and sat down on the sofa.
The nanny had been staring at her since she came in. Seeing her like this, she made a face to the person next to her and signaled her to call someone.
After a while, the Feng family couple came down from upstairs: "Here we are."
Lin Shutang didn't want to stay at the Feng family for too long, so he got straight to the point and asked, "What do you want to see me about?"
Seeing her bad attitude, Zhao Lanzhi raised her voice and said, "Can't you just go home if nothing happens? How can you talk like that, you silly girl?"
Lin Shutang sneered: "This is not my home. Auntie, did you forget? You told me last time not to come back again."
"you!"
Feng Chengchuan: "Alright, everyone, stop talking. Shutang, your uncle wants to ask you if you were with Mr. Li last night."
The intentions of the Feng couple were almost written on their faces. Lin Shutang had no idea what was going on. They wanted to get in touch with Li Yansheng through her.
She pretended not to notice anything and nodded nonchalantly: "Yes, what's wrong?"
"Are you together with Mr. Li?" Feng Chengchuan's voice was filled with excitement.
Lin Shutang didn't say anything affirmative, but only asked: "What do you think, uncle?"
