Chapter 65 "The little girl is weak and can't drink."

Chapter 65 "The little girl is weak and can't drink."

The dinner was scheduled at a restaurant in a residential area, a very secluded location. If you didn’t have someone to lead you, you would probably get lost the first time you went.

When getting off the car, the female secretary appeared out of nowhere and handed Li Yansheng a paper bag.

Li Yansheng took it and took out a shawl of the same color as Lin Shutang's skirt and put it on Lin Shutang: "It might be cold at night."

When the two entered the private room, there were already quite a few people there. Some of them were people Lin Shutang had seen in business news, and some were strangers.

When they saw Li Yansheng coming in, everyone inside stood up to greet him.

A few minutes after they sat down, they heard voices outside.

"Mr. Zhou, it is really a blessing for our district that you can come and guide our work this time."

They spoke quite loudly, and when Lin Shutang heard the words "Mr. Zhou", he instinctively shrank back.

Li Yansheng noticed something was wrong with the person next to him, so he pulled her chair closer to him and put his hand on her lower back.

He didn't say anything, but at that moment, Lin Shutang felt his panicked heart calm down.

One of the people who came in was indeed the man from that day. Lin Shutang went back and checked his information. Of his age, the only official currently serving at the ministerial level in Beijing with the surname Zhou was Zhou Congmin.

Lin Shutang didn't know whether his poor health was congenital or acquired. If it was congenital, it was surprising that he could pass the physical examination smoothly despite his ordinary family background.

Zhou Congmin noticed Lin Shutang the moment he entered the room. He was a little surprised to see her sitting next to Li Yansheng. However, he didn't show it on his face, still acting like a kind and good leader.

Zhou Congmin and his wife were the last to arrive. After they sat down, they started eating.

At such dinners, men usually talk more about other things and eat less.

Seeing that Li Yansheng had already drunk quite a bit of wine, Lin Shutang silently placed some light dishes in his bowl. As she added more food, Li Yansheng remained silent, simply looking at her silently, his eyes filled with an inexplicable tenderness.

Another person at the table watched, chuckled, and jokingly said, "Boss Li's secretary is considerate, but not very sensible. Right now, she should be drinking for your boss."

As he spoke, the man found an empty glass and poured it full of white wine, then placed it on the turntable in front of Lin Shutang: "This is my toast to President Li."

The implication was that if Lin Shutang didn't drink, Li Yansheng wouldn't accept his offer. This was the way it was after three rounds of drinking; there would always be some people, taking advantage of their not-so-distant drunkenness, cracking what they considered harmless jokes.

Li Yansheng did not deny what he said about Lin Shutang being his secretary, but he also had no intention of letting her drink.

He raised his hand to take the wine glass in front of Lin Shutang and poured it into the wine decanter in front of him without any hesitation.

"The little girl is weak and can't drink."

His tone was as calm as ever when he spoke these words. It seemed like an explanation, but it was easy to hear his attitude. For a "secretary," he poured someone else's wine right in front of her face, leaving her no face at all.

The person pouring the wine had a bad look on his face, but he just raised his voice and said the word "you" before being stopped by the person next to him.

It was the man's wife. She realized she was angry, so she stood up and apologized with a smile, "I'm sorry, Mr. Li, he's drunk."

Li Yansheng didn't seem to have any intention of arguing with him. He just put a piece of pumpkin pie into the bowl of the girl next to him without even looking at her.

Zhou Congmin saw all of this and said, "Mr. Li treats his secretary very well."

Li Yansheng didn't say a word in response to his words, as if he hadn't heard anything.
