Seeing the two girls opposite her being so aggressive, and Jiang Hua refusing to back down, it seemed a major fight was about to break out. It's well known that women can be as close as sisters when they're on good terms, but when they have a conflict, they're capable of anything. Ji Kexin thought it best to avoid trouble, especially in the crowded school cafeteria. A rash argument or fight would damage their reputations, and if something dangerous happened and the school found out, their future would be bleak. So Ji Kexin grabbed Jiang Hua and whispered, "Let's just let this go, Jiang Hua. It's just two seats; we can find another one."
Although Ji Kexin's voice wasn't loud, it still reached the ears of the other girls. One of the girls suddenly stood up, her beautiful eyes flashing with murderous intent. She glanced at Ji Kexin again, hands on her hips, looking determined not to back down, and pointed at Jiang Hua: "Hey, how can you be so rude? The school beauty already said to find another seat, so hurry up and leave!"
Jiang Hua always adhered to the principle of "I won't offend others unless they offend me," but now she couldn't just stand by and watch them bully her close friend, nor could she let them provoke her. Normally, Jiang Hua treated everyone with courtesy and wouldn't get angry even if she suffered some injustice, but now these two girls had repeatedly offended her, so she naturally couldn't sit idly by. Jiang Hua immediately retaliated without backing down: "We're not leaving!" And so, a battle between the women began.
The commotion caused by the four girls was so great that it attracted the attention of other students who were also dining, all wanting to see what was going on and why the girls were arguing. At first, a few well-meaning students tried to mediate, but seeing the menacing atmosphere, they immediately stopped. However, some busybodies, seeing that the four girls were quite attractive, immediately became interested and started egging them on. With the egging on, more and more students gradually stopped to watch.
"Hey Jiang Hua, we're being too loud. Lots of people are watching," Ji Kexin tugged at Jiang Hua's sleeve, whispering a reminder. As the school beauty, Ji Kexin usually kept a low profile, not wanting to be too flashy. She understood the saying "the nail that sticks out gets hammered down," and she didn't want to leave a negative impression because of this incident, especially since she was the most famous of the four in the school.
"Don't worry." Jiang Hua gently patted Ji Kexin's back to reassure her, and softly comforted her in her ear, "You're the school beauty, you definitely have a lot of people supporting us. Leave the arguing and cursing to me." Jiang Hua was absolutely right. Indeed, because Ji Kexin was the school beauty, most of the onlookers supported Jiang Hua and her friends. This relieved Ji Kexin.
However, the two girls from the software engineering department opposite them weren't so happy. But because so many people were watching and it wasn't appropriate for girls to make a move, they just slammed their hands on the table, looking very angry: "Ji Kexin, you're just a school beauty, what's there to be proud of? I don't know what tricks you used to get that position. And that Jiang Hua next to you, so what if she can play games?"
“Ji Kexin is prettier than you, that’s why she’s the school beauty. You can tell from everyone’s praise, there’s no need for you to judge her. As for me, I’m good at games, that’s my skill. If you’re so capable, try it out with me.” Jiang Hua was even more furious seeing her best friend being wronged. Ji Kexin, always a gentle and considerate girl who didn’t know how to argue, was already speechless. But she wasn’t one to back down. Of course, she had to stand up for her best friend. She sneered, glanced at the two girls, and slowly said, “And you two are nothing but a joke!” Then she stopped looking at them.
The two software engineering girls opposite were stunned with anger, unable to utter a word. One of them, unsure how to respond, suddenly fell silent. Glancing at a bowl of hot soup on the table, she grabbed the bowl in a fit of rage and violently splashed it at Jiang Hua, her speed and the force of her action showing no mercy.
"Jiang Hua, watch out!" Ji Kexin happened to see everything from behind Jiang Hua. She reached out to pull Jiang Hua back, but she wasn't fast enough. She thought Jiang Hua was doomed; the hot soup would surely scald her skin. But when she looked up again, she saw Jiang Hua standing unharmed beside her, with a tall, handsome boy standing next to her. The bowl of soup had fallen to the ground, startling Ji Kexin so much she patted her chest.
As Jiang Hua saw the hot soup being splashed at her, she realized it was too late to dodge. Thinking it was just a minor burn that would heal in time, she was about to close her eyes and accept her bad luck when suddenly someone grabbed her wrist and pulled her aside. The force was unlike Ji Kexin's. When she opened her eyes, she met the gaze of the boy who had saved her, and a blush suddenly appeared on her face.
Fortunately, the boy released Jiang Hua's hand immediately and turned his attention to the two female students from the Software Engineering department opposite him. His voice, though not loud, carried a strong force, sounding extremely stern and articulate. He sounded more like a teacher than a student: "You two girls have gone too far. These seats originally belonged to Ji Kexin and Jiang Hua. You took their seats, so you're already in the wrong. Not only did you use foul language, but you also threw hot soup at them. Luckily, I pulled them apart. If they had actually been splashed, have you considered the consequences? At best, you'd get burns; at worst, you'd be disfigured. You two, apologize to them right now!" The boy pointed at the two girls opposite him. A round of applause immediately erupted around them.
Upon hearing this, the two girls immediately lost their previous arrogance and silently lowered their heads to listen to the boy's reprimand. After a while, they quietly stepped forward and said in a very low voice, "We're sorry, we apologize to you." They then lowered their heads even further. Ji Kexin had intended to let the matter drop and not pursue it further, but when she heard the boy and Jiang Hua say almost simultaneously, "Louder!" she couldn't say anything more.
One of the girls stepped forward, as if gathering her courage, and loudly said, "I'm sorry!" The other girl followed suit and said, "I'm sorry." Only then did Jiang Hua smile with satisfaction, and she took Ji Kexin's arm. The boy also smiled beside her.
Immediately, a long and enthusiastic round of applause erupted from the crowd.
