Chapter 282 The Escape

Jiang Hua ran frantically as soon as she left the area, panting heavily. She kept looking back to make sure the thugs hadn't noticed her, then rested for a bit.

She looked around at the pitch black surroundings, as if she were in the middle of nowhere. Thinking about her current state, her grievances welled up in her heart like a surging river.

"Xu Xiaoxiao, I hate you. Don't worry, I will definitely not let you get away with this!" Jiang Hua looked up at the sky, clenched her fists and said hatefully.

She hated Xu Xiaoxiao. If it weren't for Xu Xiaoxiao, she wouldn't be like this now. Thinking about how well she had treated her in the past, Jiang Hua became angry. She had meant well but wronged her. She had initially ignored Xu Xiaoxiao because of their past relationship, but who knew that Xu Xiaoxiao would become even more brazen? The more she thought about it, the angrier she became. She thought that if she could escape alive, she would definitely not let Xu Xiaoxiao off the hook.

At the same time, she resented Gu Yiming for not coming to rescue her after being tied up for so long. The thought of Gu Yiming's previous indifference towards her saddened her, and now, in her most helpless moment, the person most important to her was not by her side. The thought of her current wretched state and her unborn child suffering along with her caused her heartache.

Jiang Hua forced back her tears, knowing that if they spilled, she would burst into tears, making it difficult to escape. She knew she was wronged, but she also knew she couldn't let her emotions get the better of her at this crucial moment. After resting for a while, she resumed her escape.

The thugs regained some consciousness, got up, and suddenly realized that the person was gone. When they went over, all they found were some cut ropes, and they immediately panicked.

"Damn it, what are you all good for? You couldn't even keep an eye on one person, and she got away!" the leader of the thugs shouted.

“We were drunk, who would have thought she would run away? The rope was so strong, how did she escape?” one of them said.

"Are you stupid! Of course it was cut with glass. Didn't you see the cut marks on the rope?" one of the thugs accused the man.

"I'm the stupid one, you're the stupid one!" the two argued.

"Alright, alright, stop talking. The most important thing right now is to catch her, not to argue here. If she gets away, we'll all be in big trouble. Go find her now!" the leader of the thugs said angrily.

Jiang Hua was very weak due to her pregnancy and lack of rest, and she ran out of energy after only a few steps. She suddenly remembered that she still had her phone and thought of calling the police, but when she reached into her pocket, her phone was gone. Only then did she realize that she had forgotten to take her bag when she ran away, and her phone was in the bag.

"Oh dear, how could I be so stupid? Now look what's happened, I've escaped, but what am I going to do without my phone?" Jiang Hua complained.

Then Jiang Hua dragged her exhausted body forward, occasionally stroking her belly, hoping that the baby inside would be safe and sound. However, the baby was truly cooperative, making no move, so Jiang Hua felt no discomfort and strode forward.

By this time, the thugs had gradually caught up. Since there was only one road to take, the thugs quickly found Jiang Hua.

"Boss, look, that woman is over there, I see her." A sharp-eyed thug spotted Jiang Hua.

"Where? Where is she? I can't see her." The leader's eyesight wasn't very good, so he didn't see Jiang Hua.

Several people then followed the sharp-eyed person in pursuit of her. Jiang Hua looked back and saw the thugs peering around at the bottom of a slope not far away. She panicked, unsure of what to do. She surveyed her surroundings and suddenly spotted a tree ahead. Jiang Hua ran towards the tree as fast as she could and climbed it.

"Hey, I just saw her, how come she's gone now? Boss, I definitely saw her, where did she go?" The thug stood under the tree, puzzled, unaware that the person was still in the tree.

"Are you fucking seeing things? Where is she? What are we going to do now! She's gone, how are we going to explain this? We can't afford the consequences! Damn it, you really saw her? Where is she? Where is she?" the leader said angrily.

“Boss, I really saw her, no doubt about it. That woman must be hiding. In this desolate place, she couldn’t have escaped so quickly. She should be around here. Let’s search carefully again,” the thug said timidly.

Several people took out their phones, turned on their flashlights, and searched around. The flashlights weren't very bright, and it was already midnight. It was too dark, and even with lights, it would be difficult to see anything around them.

They walked to the tree with flashlights but did not look up at the tree, so they did not notice the painting on the tree.

Gu Yiming was still on his way. Because the journey was too far and remote, and difficult to find, they were still on the road. After driving for so long, their car was almost out of gas, so they had no choice but to find a gas station to fill up.

Gu Yiming wasn't as excited as before, but beneath his seemingly calm exterior, his heart was churning with turmoil. After a short delay on the road, they set off again. Because it was the middle of the night, the road was very dark, and the driver was driving very cautiously.

Gu Yiming was anxious and helpless because it was too dark to drive too fast. He also knew very well that if something happened to him on the way to rescue Xiaoya, things would only get worse. At this moment, he could only pray in his heart that Jiang Hua and the baby in her womb would be safe and sound.

The thugs were still searching for Jiang Hua, unaware that the person they were looking for was right above them. Suddenly, a snake emerged from the tree. Jiang Hua desperately tried to suppress her fear and not scream, but the snake kept moving towards her. Terrified, Jiang Hua jumped down from the tree, and the snake followed, landing on the head of one of the thugs—who turned out to be their leader.

"What is this?" the thug asked fearfully. He touched it with his hand and touched a snake. He broke out in a cold sweat instantly. The snake slowly slid down from his head, and the thug was too scared to move.

He was trembling all over and breathing rapidly. He saw the snake coil around his arm. He tried to grab the snake's head and throw it away, but he lost his grip and the snake bit him. The thug screamed instantly.

After Jiang Hua jumped down from the tree, she felt a little uncomfortable in her stomach, but she still bravely stood up and ran away.

They all panicked because their leader had been bitten.

"You, you, you, you stay here and help me. You go after her and make sure you catch her," the leader of the thugs said with a ferocious expression.

"Yes, boss, I'll go and bring her back right away."

The thugs were very flustered. After all, their leader was injured, and they were also very afraid that the snake would come and bite them again.

They hurriedly treated the leader's wounds, while the thug relentlessly pursued Jiang Hua.
