Chapter 371 Demanding but Not Obtaining

After being heartbroken, Jiang Feifei felt utterly devastated and wanted to find some peace and quiet, so she went to a temple to calm her mind.

After staying for several days, Jiang Feifei had completely adapted to life in the temple, and could even be said to have forgotten all about it. Unfortunately, things didn't go as planned; her heart was set on peace, but the wind wouldn't stop, and the person who had hurt her so deeply eventually came looking for her.

"Feifei, come home with me!" Gu Nanqing finally found Jiang Feifei in the temple after searching for several days. He went straight up, grabbed Jiang Feifei's hand, and started walking out. Actually, Gu Nanqing was really panicked, afraid that Jiang Feifei might accidentally become a nun. So he thought he had to take Jiang Feifei away as soon as possible; staying for even a second longer would be dangerous.

"Gu Nanqing, let me go! We have nothing to do with each other anymore. Stop bothering me and tormenting me. Give me some peace!" Jiang Feifei struggled fiercely, not wanting to have anything to do with Gu Nanqing anymore.

“Impossible! Feifei, you will be my wife for the rest of your life, and that will never change! I was wrong, Feifei, please come home with me, okay? I beg you,” Gu Nanqing said to Jiang Feifei in such a humble tone for the first time.

"I refuse. It's too late now. Please let go. I'm begging you," Jiang Feifei insisted, even though she was starting to soften her stance. But thinking of the pain she had endured before, her heart hardened again.

Upon hearing Jiang Feifei's words, Gu Nanqing unconsciously loosened his grip. He wondered what he had done to Feifei that made her beg to leave him.

As soon as Jiang Feifei saw Gu Nanqing loosen his grip, she walked straight towards the temple without looking back. Then she heard a loud thud behind her, followed by Gu Nanqing's voice: "Feifei, I'm kneeling before you. I beg for forgiveness, please forgive me."

Jiang Feifei stopped, her hands clenched into fists, but she still didn't turn around. She suppressed her inner turmoil and said through gritted teeth, "You should go back, Gu Nanqing. I want to stay here for a while. Maybe I'll go back later if I think things through."

After saying that, Jiang Feifei went straight to Master Liaowu at the temple. She felt that he was the master who could best enlighten her, so she wanted to communicate with him again to calm her mind and eliminate her inner turmoil.

“Master, I apologize for disturbing you again,” Jiang Feifei said, bowing to the master.

“Benefactor Jiang, let’s strike the wooden fish together. Calm your mind first so that you won’t be disturbed by the outside world. Cultivating oneself begins with cultivating the mind. Listen to me recite a sutra for you to help you.” Master Liaowu saw Jiang Feifei’s appearance and knew that something must have happened to make her lose the self-control she had cultivated over this period of time.

“Okay,” Jiang Feifei sat cross-legged, and the two of them calmed their minds amidst the fragrant sandalwood incense and the sound of their bowls. As Master Liaowu chanted the sutras, Jiang Feifei gradually calmed down and returned to a normal state. She did not lose control because of Gu Nanqing and silently followed the master in chanting the sutras.

Standing outside the door, Gu Nanqing was filled with fear and distress at the sight, as if Jiang Feifei would become a nun at any moment. No! He had to find a way to stop Jiang Feifei's thoughts; nuns must not break the precepts, especially the precept against sexual misconduct! Perhaps he and Jiang Feifei could do some unspeakable things in this quiet temple, and maybe even conceive a child.

Gu Nanqing stayed at the temple for the time being and instructed his subordinates to bring him some entertainment items, otherwise Jiang Feifei might resist, and he also had to keep an eye on Jiang Feifei.

Gu Nanqing was pressing him hard, and the next day his subordinates delivered the things he had instructed him to do. However, he hesitated to act, as Jiang Feifei was too wary of him. Holding the items in his hands, Gu Nanqing pondered how to handle the matter properly. Watching the young monks pacing back and forth outside, a plan formed in his mind. These young monks had only recently entered monastic life; their desires were not yet purified, their minds were not yet free from distractions, and their temperaments were unstable. He could try using them for help.

After making numerous inquiries, Gu Nanqing finally found Daoxin, a young monk in the temple who had repeatedly broken the precepts. This kind of person was the easiest to bribe. He could have Daoxin give Jiang Feifei something to drink when she wasn't paying attention, and then he wouldn't have to worry about getting things done.

There's no time like the present, and besides, I've been waiting for several days already. Jiang Feifei has no intention of going home with me at all, so I'll put this plan into action tonight.

Unexpectedly, things didn't go smoothly from the start. Before the young monk could even make a move, Master Liaowu discovered his true intentions and interrogated him until he learned the whole story.

“Apologize to Benefactor Jiang and voluntarily accept the punishment according to the temple rules,” Master Liaowu said helplessly to Daoxin. This disciple had repeatedly failed to learn his lesson and had unexpectedly become so audacious as to commit such an unforgivable act. Fortunately, he had discovered it.

"Benefactor Jiang, this humble monk knows his mistake. Please forgive me and persuade the master not to expel me from the temple." Dao Xin was terrified and hurriedly begged Jiang Feifei to intercede for him. According to the temple rules, he would be beaten with thirty strokes of the cane and then expelled from the temple.

Jiang Feifei ignored him, realizing she had almost drunk the wine. If it weren't for Master Liaowu, she would be finished and trapped by Gu Nanqing again. So, after thanking Master Liaowu, Jiang Feifei prepared to go back to her room to rest.

Unexpectedly, Gu Nanqing remained incorrigible. Unwilling to accept defeat after seeing the young monk's failure, he decided to kidnap her in the middle of the night and forcibly take Jiang Feifei away. Jiang Feifei resisted fiercely and was eventually discovered and rescued by the other monks in the temple.

Master Liaowu looked at Jiang Feifei and Gu Nanqing and thought to himself, "What a tragic fate, Amitabha." Then he said to the disheveled Jiang Feifei, "Benefactor Jiang, go back and tidy up first. You don't need to worry about anything else. This kind of thing won't happen again." He then gestured to the monk next to him to take Jiang Feifei away.

"Feifei..." Gu Nanqing wanted to persuade her to stay, but looking at Jiang Feifei's appearance, he didn't know what to say.

“Benefactor Gu, please come with me to the meditation room for a chat,” Master Liaowu said to the stubborn Gu Nanqing after Jiang Feifei left.

"What do you have to say? You've ruined my plans time and time again!" Gu Nanqing was very annoyed with Master Liaowu.

“Benefactor, in Buddhism we emphasize the four words ‘letting go and turning back.’ Do you understand? I hope you can understand the reason behind these four words,” Master Liaowu said before leaving, leaving Gu Nanqing to ponder.

Gu Nanqing stood there for half the night, lost in thought, before finally leaving alone.
