Distracted by a phone call, Gu Yiming glared at Jiang Hua, who was looking gloating. If it weren't for some urgent business at the company, he would have pounced on her right now and made sure this little woman couldn't get out of bed tomorrow morning.
Gu Yiming, suppressing his burning desire, resignedly got up and dressed with a helpless expression. Jiang Hua, barely holding back a laugh, obediently got up and tied Mr. Gu's tie.
Seeing Jiang Hua with her head down, earnestly tying her tie, Gu Yiming finally couldn't resist. He pulled Jiang Hua over, planted a heavy kiss on her soft lips, and muttered a curse: "You vixen!" Then he walked out of the room without looking back.
Are you kidding me? If I were to look at that vixen even once more, my usually prideful self-control would probably crumble.
Stepping out of the room, Gu Yiming's eyes regained their usual sharpness, as if he had instantly transformed back into the decisive and efficient CEO Gu. Gu Yiming glanced back at his villa. Since this woman came into his life, this place had truly become a home, a place where he could truly let go of everything.
The driver was already waiting outside. Gu Yiming got into the car, gently closed his eyes, and rested. The car drove smoothly to the company gate. Gu Yiming stepped inside and saw his assistant, Jin Yu, walking briskly towards him.
“President Gu,” Jin Yu approached Gu Yiming, her face showing concern, “I’m so sorry to have invited you to the company so late, but there has indeed been a problem. We were absolutely certain we would win the land auction, but unexpectedly, someone else snatched it from us.”
Upon hearing this news, even the usually composed Gu Yiming couldn't help but raise an eyebrow. "Really? Daring to go against the Gu Group? Who has such audacity?"
"This is due to our poor handling of the situation. Although we don't know who is behind this, I believe that someone must be involved and causing trouble behind the scenes. Moreover, there is a high possibility that there is a mole within the company."
This is another tricky matter. Gu Yiming rubbed his temples hard. "Send someone to investigate discreetly, but be careful not to alert them."
"Yes," Jin Yu replied respectfully, then left and returned to her office to continue working.
Tonight is destined to be another sleepless night.
Once Gu Yiming got to work, he forgot all his fatigue. Facing the sizable stack of documents on his desk, his phone rang. Gu Yiming picked up the phone and saw that it was none other than his beloved Jiang Hua. The corners of his lips unconsciously began to curve into a smile. Then he glanced at the time—1:30 a.m.—and his brows furrowed.
"It's so late, why aren't you asleep yet?" President Gu's voice softened unconsciously.
"Aren't you coming home late tonight? I heard something happened at the company, is it serious?"
"It's nothing serious, just a piece of land that someone else took away," Gu Yiming said casually, not wanting his woman to worry about it.
"Are you sure it's alright?" Jiang Hua asked suspiciously. She didn't understand business matters at all, but for Gu Yiming to handle it personally late at night, it must be a big deal.
"Okay, okay, trust me, I'll handle it. Honey, it's getting late, go to sleep."
"Alright then," Jiang Hua nodded. "Don't work too hard, take care of yourself and don't overwork yourself."
“Okay,” Gu Yiming felt a surge of warmth upon hearing Jiang Hua’s concern. “I understand. Also, we’ll continue what we didn’t finish tonight tomorrow.”
Jiang Hua was stunned for a moment, and after realizing what Gu Yiming was referring to, her face immediately flushed red. "What are you talking about! I'm going to sleep, I can't be bothered with you anymore."
Before Gu Yiming could speak, he heard a busy tone on the other end of the line; the little one had hung up. Remembering Jiang Hua's blushing face, Gu Yiming chuckled softly.
The next morning, the company's senior management and board members all learned of the land being seized and rushed to the company for a board meeting. Seeing that everyone was getting impatient, Gu Yiming could only try his best to appease them.
Meanwhile, in the lobby of the Gu Group building, a heavily made-up woman was arguing with the receptionist.
"I want to see President Gu."
The woman took off her sunglasses, revealing a delicately made-up face; she was none other than Ding Man, the eldest daughter of the Ding family.
"Miss, do you have an appointment?"
“No,” Ding Man said with an unfriendly expression, “Look closely, what do I need an appointment for? If nothing unexpected happens, I will be the future boss's wife of the Gu Group. Didn’t your CEO Gu tell you that?”
"No." The receptionist shook her head honestly, her dislike for this arrogant and conceited young lady reaching its peak, but she still forced a smile. "Miss, please wait over there for a moment."
Ding Man looked dissatisfied and muttered something under her breath, but she had no choice but to walk over and sit down on the sofa. Taking advantage of the security guards and receptionist's inattention, she slipped into the president's elevator, looking smug.
But she ultimately underestimated the security measures of the Gu Group. The president's private elevator was naturally tailor-made for Gu Yiming. Anyone else would just get trapped inside.
Ding Man watched helplessly as the elevator doors closed and alarms sounded all around.
"What happened?" Ding Man asked in a terrified tone.
The security guards also disliked this spoiled and willful young lady, so they turned off the alarm. It wasn't until an hour later that they managed to pull the dumbfounded Ding Man out of the president's elevator.
Ding Man came to her senses and saw Gu Yiming standing in front of her, while the people around her were pretending to be doing their own thing, but in reality, they were all listening intently, ready to see her make a fool of herself.
Ignoring everyone else's stares, Ding Man gazed at Gu Yiming with infatuation. "Yiming, I've come to find you."
Gu Yiming said coldly, "Gu's Group doesn't welcome you. Don't come back again."
Having said that, she completely ignored Ding Man, who was on the verge of tears, and swept her gaze across everyone. Now, everyone in the company understood. This woman would probably never set foot in the Gu family's house again.
Having warned everyone, Gu Yiming ignored Ding Man and headed straight for the elevator, while the others prepared to leave.
Suddenly, Gu Yiming turned around and asked, "By the way, who was that receptionist just now?"
The receptionist stepped forward nervously. "Mr. Gu, it's me."
"From today onwards, I am officially promoted to team leader." With that, he left with a flourish.
So, amidst the envious and jealous gazes of everyone, the receptionist, looking completely bewildered, packed her things and carried them to the team leader's office. Turns out, promotions and raises are nothing more than this.
