Jiang Hua looked at the mess Gu Yiming had made on the floor and was so angry she almost choked. For the first time, she felt the incomprehensibility of men and wondered if she had been out of her mind to have gotten involved with such a man.
"Huahua, what happened? Are you hurt? Let me see." Qi Yanxu opened the bathroom door and saw this scene, and was momentarily at a loss. He hurriedly ran over and tried to take the female lead's hand to check her over.
He had no idea this would happen; all he could say was that the bathroom was very soundproof. He had only heard a faint rustling sound and assumed it was just the wind, so he hadn't paid much attention.
Thinking about it, I feel inexplicably guilty.
Jiang Hua didn't let him succeed. The moment he was about to touch her, she dodged to the side. Her eyes were cold. "I don't need your kindness."
How dare Qi Yanxu care about her without a clear conscience? He was clearly the one who started the whole thing, the culprit! Why does he act like nothing happened, treating her like she's nothing special?
Am I stupid?
She glared at him fiercely again before being led into the bedroom and having the door locked from the inside.
This world is truly insane. Should we even let her live a normal life?
Jiang Hua rubbed her ears, unwilling to listen to Qi Yanxu's calls from outside the door any longer.
Qi Yanxu, standing outside the door, called out to Jiang Hua, but she ignored him, and he felt a pang of disappointment. His eyes dimmed, he lowered his hands, and turned to leave.
...
Su Wenwen couldn't possibly follow Jiang Hua and Qi Yanxu around all day; she also had work to do. But the thought of their current relationship, plus Gu Yiming's meddling, gave her a throbbing headache again.
She didn't know if it was just her imagination, but for the first time in all her years, she felt like she was raising a child.
A chill ran down her spine. God, please don't give her a bunch of children like that when she becomes a mother. It's utterly distressing.
"Su Wenwen!" A weight lifted from her shoulder, and Su Wenwen's vision went black for a moment. She looked closely and saw it was the document she had prepared last time. Had something gone wrong?
"Sister Mei, isn't this the same document I submitted last time? How did it end up with you?" She tried to stop thinking about Jiang Hua and the others; this was the biggest problem right now.
She didn't have much interaction with Sister Mei, and she didn't know what she had done to offend this boss. Anyway, Sister Mei kept criticizing her from beginning to end.
But none of those troubles were related to official business. Thinking about it made her feel a little heavy-hearted.
"The boss wants you to take this document to his office."
She knew that although Sister Mei was difficult with her, she never joked about serious matters.
Could there really be a problem with this document? Impossible... She's checked this document many times; how could there be any signs of error?
Su Wenwen numbly picked up the documents and stepped into the elevator.
The elevator stopped on the fifteenth floor, her first time in such a symbolic place.
The office was large, but there was no one else there except a middle-aged man sitting there, talking on the phone.
"Boss..." Su Wenwen had always been bold and fearless, except perhaps for one thing: she was terrified of offending her superiors. After all, her superiors were the source of her salary. She had no reason not to submit to that authority. The premise, however, was that her documents were indeed wrong.
"I've looked at the documents you prepared." He glanced up and subtly scanned her entire body before hanging up the phone. For some reason, that glance gave Su Wenwen goosebumps.
"Do you think customers would accept that kind of document? That's complete nonsense. What's most important in marketing?"
Su Wenwen swallowed hard, straightened her back, and said, "Consumer."
"Hmph. You actually know anything about consumers? Look at the documents you wrote, all wildly imaginative, without considering the consumers at all. Who are you going to buy from you, to trust your product! Do you think consumers are fools? Do you think I'm a fool?!" He suddenly slammed his pen on the desk, his face contorted in a rage.
"In my opinion, your plan is utter nonsense!"
Su Wenwen was stunned by the scolding, then her temper flared up. Anyone would be angry in that situation. But she forced herself to calm down. "Boss, I hope you can respect others. Secondly, I've been in this business for so long, do you really think I don't know anything? If so, would you feel comfortable entrusting this task to me?"
The middle-aged man was speechless at her words, and glared at her fiercely, "Go and take a good look before you talk! I need to go discuss the contract now, do you know that your business partner almost broke off the deal because of you!"
Su Wenwen didn't even know how she got out of the office; she just felt incredibly frustrated. She kicked the wall next to the stairs hard, and her pocket suddenly rang.
She hesitated for a moment, then took out her phone. Seeing it was an unfamiliar number, she answered it anyway, even though she didn't want to.
"Hello. Is this Su Wenwen?" A deep, magnetic voice came from the other end of the phone.
Su Wenwen didn't understand why the other person knew her name. She only felt that the voice was familiar. After thinking for a long time, she realized that the caller was Gu Yiming.
"Ah, so it's Young Master Gu." She curled her lips into a cold laugh. She hadn't forgotten what this man had done to Jiang Hua. How could she possibly give him a friendly look?
There was a moment of silence from Gu Yiming before his voice rang out again. He didn't hold Su Wenwen's disrespect against her, saying, "I didn't ask you to bring Jiang Hua back. She can stay at your place for as long as she wants."
"But, on the condition that we get rid of that bastard Qi Yanxu."
"What? You're overthinking it. Young Master Gu thinks too highly of me, a mere woman. How could I possibly catch up with Qi Yanxu? If I could, I would have done it long ago. If you ask me, none of you men are any good!" Su Wenwen said sarcastically without any restraint.
The call was unsurprisingly disconnected. Su Wenwen twitched her lips, feeling sorry for Jiang Hua. It was a tragedy to be stuck with such an arrogant man.
After being scolded by her boss, she wasn't in the mood to continue working. She asked Sister Mei for leave and packed her bags to go home. Sister Mei didn't forget to give her a lecture, but for the first time, she didn't care. Sister Mei could only purse her lips, feeling embarrassed.
Su Wenwen took a taxi home; she didn't want to squeeze onto the bus again. She wasn't in the mood. And when you're not in the mood, it's the perfect time to 'recklessly' spend money.
Besides, she hadn't taken a taxi in a long time, and if it weren't for what happened today, she didn't know when she'd be able to ride one again. So, should she go and thank the boss?
Su Wenwen hadn't expected Gu Yiming to be staking out her house. She twitched her lips. "What for?"
"Didn't you refuse to help me? Now look at me! You should know I have plenty of time now, I can come here to visit you all the time." Gu Yiming pointed to the watch on his wrist, looking smug.
"Okay, okay. I give up, I'll help you. But don't get your hopes up too high."
