The assistant said gratefully, "Thank you, don't worry, I'll be back as soon as possible." He was really glad that he had worked with such a good-tempered artist. Some celebrities act like divas all the time and don't care if someone in your family has died. You have to take good care of them first, or you'll get fired.
He hurriedly grabbed his bag and was about to run off when Jiang Hua stopped him, stuffed ten 100-yuan bills into his hand, and comforted him, "Take this. It's not much, but I can't attend the funeral, and you'll need money for your journey." The assistant was incredibly grateful for her thoughtfulness; his home was in the countryside, requiring a full day's journey. He had just exceeded his spending limit this month and didn't have much money in his account, so this 1000 yuan was a lifesaver.
Watching her assistant hurriedly hail a taxi and leave, Jiang Hua breathed a sigh of relief. She picked up her things and got into the van. The driver, seeing that she was alone, asked curiously, "Ms. Jiang, why are you alone? Where is your assistant?"
After putting down her things and closing the car door, Jiang Hua finally sat down and said, "Something came up at home, so I'm taking leave to go home." She simply explained the reason, without any intention of gossiping.
Fortunately, the driver didn't ask any more questions and started the car to leave. Jiang Hua's company was quite far from the filming location, so it would probably take more than an hour to drive there, and they probably wouldn't finish until sometime in the evening. The driver played some music, an old English song, "Yesterday Once More" sung by the Carpenter Siblings. Jiang Hua thought it sounded quite nice and started humming along.
Unbeknownst to her, the music lulled her to sleep, and she drifted off to rest. She only woke up when the driver patted her shoulder and called her. The driver had already opened the car door for her, and she got out with an embarrassed smile.
"Thank you for waking me up. I was sleeping so soundly, I'm sorry you had to see me like that." She thanked the driver after getting out of the car.
Looking at her with sympathy, the driver said with concern, "Are you too tired? You fell asleep not long after getting in the car, but you couldn't sleep soundly. You were twisting and turning, and you looked like you were in pain."
Well, she can't exactly say that she has an injury on her butt, which is why she didn't sleep well at night and was uncomfortable sitting in the car. But she can't exactly lie face down in the car, can she? So when she fell asleep, her butt was itchy and sore, which is why she tried to find a good sitting position. She accidentally hurt herself, so of course she looked pained.
Her mind raced, and she tried to hide her unease, stammering, "Yes, I've been having trouble sleeping and having vivid dreams these past few days, so I'm not feeling well." After a moment's thought, this was the only excuse she could come up with.
