Gu Yiming drove to a bar to drown his sorrows in alcohol, downing one glass of wine after another, seemingly impervious to alcohol. A beautiful woman then sat down next to him.
"Handsome, won't you buy me a drink?" the beautiful woman said, flaunting her charm.
Gu Yiming glanced at her, then asked the waiter to bring out the drinks, saying that all the drinks for this beautiful woman would be on him. The two of them sat down and started drinking, chatting for over an hour.
It just so happens that this bar belongs to Gu Cheng, who planned to come here for a quick inspection before heading home. He happened to see Gu Yiming drinking inside, quite drunk, with a beautiful woman sitting next to him.
Gu Cheng was utterly disdainful of Gu Yiming's current state. He walked over with two of his henchmen and said to Gu Yiming, "How can Gu Yiming be so useless? He gets drunk after just a couple of drinks, and he's even trying to pick up girls like other guys."
When Gu Yiming saw Gu Cheng provoking him, and considering he had drunk so much, he knew his temper wouldn't be good, and coupled with his irritable mood, he yelled at him.
"Who do you think you are? Do you know who I am? If you know what's good for you, get out of my way and stop bothering me while I'm drinking. I'm in a bad mood today, so get as far away as you can."
Seeing this, the beautiful woman hurriedly left the scene, and the people around her also moved away to watch the commotion.
"I don't care who you are, what do I care if you're in a bad mood?"
Unable to withstand the provocation and in a bad mood, Gu Yiming decided to vent his anger on Gu Cheng.
Gu Yiming retorted that this was "forced" upon him, and challenged him to a one-on-one fight, saying that his grandfather had beaten Gu Cheng like a grandson.
When the henchmen next to him saw him rush up to hit Gu Cheng, they were about to come up to help him. Gu Cheng smiled slightly and said...
"Don't move, all of you. It's a one-on-one fight. Let me handle this. No one can come to my aid. I'm going to beat him up like a grandson. And you call me a grandson?"
Gu Yiming charged forward, swinging his fists wildly, looking exactly like an enraged gorilla. Gu Cheng kicked him to the ground, but he stumbled to his feet and launched a second attack...
And so Gu Yiming and Gu Cheng got into a fight. Of course, Gu Yiming was beaten like a dog. A bunch of onlookers gathered around, but seeing him being beaten like that, no one dared to stop him. Anyone who dared to stop him would be asking for trouble. Gu Cheng was clearly not someone to be trifled with.
Gu Cheng, being a gang leader, was completely unharmed, while Gu Yiming was beaten so badly he couldn't fight back and had no strength left to move. His underlings clapped and cheered.
Gu Cheng clapped his hands and laughed, "If you're so capable, get up and continue fighting him. You think you can fight him back and practice for another two years? Don't you know who he is? How ridiculous."
Then he beckoned his men over: "Come on, help me escort Mr. Gu out."
Gu Yiming lay sprawled on the ground, staring at Gu Cheng: "Who are you?" Gu Cheng's men grabbed his arms, dragged him out of the bar, and threw him onto the road outside the bar.
Gu Cheng looked at him with disdain and said that it didn't matter who he was, what mattered was that he looked like a dog and was so damn pathetic. A person like him was not worthy of Jiang Hua at all.
Gu Yiming was shocked when he heard this. He didn't expect that everyone he met would be related to Jiang Hua. At first, he thought that these people were related to the beautiful woman from before and were here to cause him trouble. He didn't expect that it was related to Jiang Hua.
After Gu Yiming finally regained some composure, he heard Jiang Hua's name spoken by a strange man, who also said that he was not good enough for her and that he must have some kind of connection with her.
Gu Yiming roared and asked him who he really was.
"Who I am is not important, and besides, it's none of your business. Do you even deserve to know who I am?" Gu Cheng replied coldly.
If he's so capable, he should tell Gu Yiming who he is. He'll make him regret it. Gu Cheng glanced at Gu Yiming but ignored him. Gu Yiming got angry when Gu Cheng ignored him.
"Tell me, who are you? How do you know about my relationship with Jiang Hua? What is your relationship with her? What makes you think I'm not good enough for her?"
Gu Cheng ignored him and turned to leave. Not far away, one of the underlings asked Gu Cheng if he would still be allowed to enter his family's bar in the future, and whether his shouting outside would affect business.
Seeing that Gu Cheng had left, Gu Yiming kept asking him who he was and what his relationship with Jiang Hua was, but he kept walking further and further away and completely ignored him.
He muttered to himself, "Why do you say I'm not qualified? Do you think you are?"
Gu Cheng replied, "Don't worry about him. Just treat him like a dog barking randomly. Anyway, our shop is doing well, so we're not afraid of him barking."
Watching their departing figures, Gu Yiming was still slumped on the ground, struggling with what his relationship with Jiang Hua really was. Passing people looked at him curiously, but no one recognized him. They all thought he was someone who had been beaten up by the bar owner and kicked out because he couldn't afford to drink.
Passersby were talking amongst themselves as they saw his disheveled state, some even joking with those around them that if they ever ran out of money for drinks, they'd end up just as pathetic as him. He didn't even have time to care.
After a while, Gu Yiming took out his phone. The phone had almost been destroyed when he dropped it, but thankfully he could still make calls to call someone. Gu Yiming told his location and asked his new male assistant to come pick him up and buy him a new phone.
After hanging up the phone, Gu Yiming struggled to get up, dusted himself off, and sat down to wait for the driver. While waiting for his assistant, he didn't stop to think about all the possible relationships between Jiang Hua and Gu Yiming.
When the new assistant arrived, he saw his boss sitting on the ground in a disheveled state. He hurriedly ran over and helped him into the car. Gu Yiming lay in the car, feeling pain all over his body. The new assistant tactfully told the doctor to wait at home.
Gu Yiming's brows were tightly furrowed with every movement, and he felt extremely uncomfortable all over. His new assistant slowed down the car and drove home safely, carefully helping him out of the car and then carefully helping him back to his room.
When the servants saw Gu Yiming being helped home, covered in injuries and reeking of alcohol, a group of them huddled in the kitchen and whispered among themselves.
"Do you think he might have gone to a bar to drink, and then someone upset him, and he got into a fight, which is how he ended up like this?" said a gossipy person.
An older person came over and advised them to keep their voices down. He said if they wanted to continue working there, others would hear them and they'd be retired. He urged them to disperse and stop gathering together. Then the group dispersed and went about their own business.
The doctor was already waiting inside when Gu Yiming entered the room. Just as the new assistant was about to leave, Gu Yiming told him to forget what he had seen that night, and that he would bear the consequences if others found out. The new assistant nodded and then left the room.
