Jiang Hua looked up from a stack of documents, stretched her stiff neck, and checked the time. She had been looking at documents for two hours, which was exhausting for her after only a few days of rest.
Jiang Hua turned her head and glanced at Gu Yiming, who was sitting at the president's desk. He was also working diligently with his head down. Jiang Hua stared at Gu Yiming for a while and thought that Gu Yiming was quite handsome. Just then, Gu Yiming suddenly raised his head.
Gu Yiming felt a gaze fixed on him, which made him very uncomfortable. When he looked up, he saw Jiang Hua, who looked panicked as he was caught peeking at her.
Gu Yiming couldn't help but find it amusing. He looked at Jiang Hua, who had lowered her head and was pretending nothing was wrong, and asked, "Why were you staring at me like that? Am I that good-looking?"
Jiang Hua was caught peeking and felt embarrassed, but she stubbornly said, "What's so good about it? It's ugly."
Gu Yiming raised an eyebrow. "Really? If you don't look good, why are you staring at me? Could it be that you've fallen in love with me?" Gu Yiming looked at Jiang Hua with a half-smile.
Upon hearing Gu Yiming's words, Jiang Hua suddenly looked up. "Who likes you? You're so narcissistic. I still have work to do, don't bother me." After saying that, Jiang Hua buried her head in the documents and never looked up again.
Gu Yiming couldn't help but laugh when he saw Jiang Hua hiding like an ostrich.
Gu Yiming shook his head, lowered his head and stopped looking at Jiang Hua, and began to immerse himself in his work.
After a while, remembering the knocking sound, Gu Yiming didn't look up and simply said, "Come in." The door to the president's office was pushed open.
Jiang Hua looked up and saw it was Gu Yiming's assistant. "What is it?" Gu Yiming asked his assistant.
"President," the assistant said, then glanced at Jiang Hua and didn't continue.
"You can continue," Gu Yiming said, noticing his assistant's expression and indicating that he didn't need to worry.
"There have been some problems with the land our company originally planned to use, so the start of construction has been delayed. President, what do you think we should do?" the assistant whispered to Gu Yiming.
Upon hearing his assistant's words, Gu Yiming's face also turned serious. He thought for a moment and asked, "Is this the piece of land we had our eye on before, the one in such a good location?"
The assistant nodded, glanced at Gu Yiming's cold expression, and didn't dare to speak.
Jiang Hua, sitting in her assistant's seat, suddenly felt a chill. She wrapped her coat tighter around herself, but didn't look up, continuing to look at her documents.
Gu Yiming thought for a moment and said to his assistant, "I will handle this matter personally today and go out with the higher-ups for a social event. You don't need to worry about it."
The assistant was puzzled. Normally, the president would be furious by now, and he was prepared to be yelled at by Gu Yiming. But nothing happened today. The assistant looked outside, and the sky was still blue as usual. The assistant breathed a sigh of relief. It seemed that he was lucky today, or the president had something to be happy about. Thinking this, the assistant glanced at Jiang Hua in the corner, who was silent but had a strong presence. The assistant seemed to know something.
Seeing that his assistant didn't move, Gu Yiming looked up at him with a cold expression. The assistant felt a gaze on him and, seeing Gu Yiming looking at him, hurriedly grabbed the documents and ran out.
Gu Yiming sat back down in his seat, radiating a low-pressure aura that even Jiang Hua, engrossed in her work, could sense. Jiang Hua looked up at Gu Yiming, puzzled, wondering why he was suddenly so angry. She wasn't sure if she should talk to him now, afraid of stepping into his trap. After a moment's thought, she mustered her courage and asked Gu Yiming, who was still radiating coldness, "What's wrong? Why are you suddenly unhappy?"
Gu Yiming looked up at Jiang Hua, and seeing her delicate face, his anger subsided slightly. He stared at Jiang Hua for a while, thinking about his social engagement that evening.
His sly grin made Jiang Hua's heart pound. She decided not to listen to Gu Yiming's answer and lowered her head. Jiang Hua guessed that Gu Yiming was definitely not looking for her anything good.
Sure enough, Gu Yiming spoke up quietly, "You're coming out with me tonight."
Jiang Hua touched her head, thinking, "What's coming has come; there's no escaping it now." She looked up at Gu Yiming and asked, "Where are we going? What are we doing?"
"Why are you asking so many questions? Just come with me. I'm not going to sell you." Gu Yiming said domineeringly.
“I’m worthless, why would you sell me? But I need to know what I’m going to do tonight so I can prepare in advance,” Jiang Hua asked directly when Gu Yiming wouldn’t tell her.
"Come with me to the social event." Gu Yiming was too lazy to beat around the bush with Jiang Hua. He needed to think about things for the evening, and he didn't have time to chat with Jiang Hua and interrupt his train of thought.
Jiang Hua initially wanted to refuse outright, but then she realized that Gu Yiming would definitely not let her off the hook if she did. "I still have so many documents to process, I don't have time to accompany you to social events," Jiang Hua said tactfully, expressing her thoughts.
Gu Yiming said, "It's okay, I gave you special permission. You can wait two more days to read that document. I've even given you extra time, so there's no rush." Gu Yiming wondered what Jiang Hua could say.
Jiang Hua was speechless. No matter what excuse she made, Gu Yiming could always find a reason to shut her up. Jiang Hua stopped beating around the bush and directly refused Gu Yiming, "I don't want to go to social events with you. I'd rather stay here and look at the documents."
Gu Yiming was a little angry when he heard Jiang Hua dare to refuse him. Gu Yiming walked up to Jiang Hua, put his hands on the table, and slowly approached her. Jiang Hua looked at Gu Yiming approaching and couldn't help but feel scared. She slowly shrank back until she hit the wall and couldn't retreat any further.
Jiang Hua clutched her clothes, huddled in the corner, and looked at Gu Yiming with a terrified expression. "What do you want to do?"
Gu Yiming looked at Jiang Hua, not stopping his approaching motion, and slowly said to her, "Have you thought it through? You really won't go to the social event with me?"
Jiang Hua was scared, but she said with great pride, "Of course I'm not going." She even straightened her body to prove that she wasn't afraid of him.
Gu Yiming raised an eyebrow. "Have you thought it through? If you don't go, I can't guarantee that no one will find out about the fake pregnancy. You can probably imagine the consequences." After saying that, Gu Yiming straightened up.
When Jiang Hua heard Gu Yiming threaten her with the fake pregnancy again, she cursed him as despicable in her heart, but her face was full of smiles. "I'll go, of course I'll go. How could I not go to such a good opportunity?"
