Chapter 38 Moonlight
Even though he was called a corrupt official, Qu didn't really care. He was a little concerned about Mingyuan, even though he ended up in such a sorry state just to stop her from getting angry. He still wanted to finish what he was saying.
Only when he saw the gloom in her eyes dissipate and she looked at him with clear eyes again could his inexplicably clenched heart finally relax.
This unfamiliar persistence surprised even himself.
His gaze unconsciously followed the figure curled up in a ball. He recalled the slightly reddened tips of her ears when she sincerely apologized, and a strange flutter suddenly rose in his chest.
Are you still angry now?
Ling Wei was aimlessly tugging at the withered grass on the pit wall when Qu Mingyuan's warm, deep voice came from behind her, sounding exceptionally clear in the silent pit:
"Your team is indeed very capable. We will arrange for Group A to record the program later, but it will be pre-recorded and will not be broadcast live. This content will be edited into a special compilation and broadcast during the competition week."
Furthermore, the venue selection for future competitions will no longer be determined by popularity votes...
His speech gradually slowed, and his voice lowered, carrying a barely perceptible hesitation:
"Your venue... will be located at..."
Wait, what's he doing now?
Are you going to leak the exam questions to her?
Ling Wei turned around abruptly.
Just then, the moonlight moved into the pit, illuminating his lowered profile. Although Qu Mingyuan's tone was steady, he kept his head down, making it impossible to see his expression.
Why do people who don't show their faces always seem so depressing?
If you don't want to reveal it, then don't reveal it!
Ling Wei casually picked up a clod of dirt with grass roots still attached and threw it precisely, interrupting the words that were about to come out.
The clods of earth crumbled at his feet, and when he looked up, his slightly bewildered expression was strangely amusing.
Ling Wei suppressed the upturned corners of her mouth and deliberately put on a stern face: "I know without you telling me, the venue is right here, Wanghaiyu."
“There have been noticeably more vehicles on the island recently, and there are also many traces of construction materials being transported.” Ling Wei analyzed clearly, “Moreover, the theme of this ‘tracing’ is perfectly suited to the local area.”
However, the key point isn't where it is, but rather where the specific stage will be set up.
“There are indeed many suitable locations for setting up a stage on Wanghaiyu Island,” she said, her eyes shining brightly as she talked about her recent discoveries while traveling around the island during the break from broadcasting. “The beach on the south shore is spacious enough, but the tide times are unstable; the open-air theater on the west side has complete facilities, but it lacks some island characteristics.”
“I have observed that only the platform in front of the lighthouse is spacious enough and has the sea behind it, making it the most suitable location to build the main stage.”
Finally, with a hint of pride in her eyes, she glanced sideways at Qu Mingyuan, who was not far away.
"There's only one truth, and the final stage will be set up at the lighthouse!!"
Seeing the fleeting surprise in Qu Mingyuan's eyes, which quickly turned into an approving smile, Ling Wei awkwardly turned her head to face the pit wall.
Oh wow, it seems she guessed right.
This shouldn't be considered leaking the questions, right?
This is how she cleverly used the micro-expressions on the characters' faces to confirm her guess.
Give myself a round of applause.
Qu Mingyuan unconsciously took a deep breath, and the inexplicable tension in his chest finally dissipated slowly.
That's how she is.
From the moment he saw her effortlessly defuse the crisis in that chaotic room, he knew that this girl didn't need any extra care from anyone.
She has her own pace and her own methods, like a plant that grows freely in the face of wind and rain.
Thinking of this, a self-deprecating smile appeared on his lips. The wavering he had felt just now, wanting to break his principles for her, now seemed somewhat ridiculous.
The moonlight flowed quietly between the two of them. Ling Wei continued to idly tug at the withered grass, the blades of grass falling softly through her fingers.
Qu Mingyuan suddenly spoke, his voice carrying a hint of seriousness: "Why do you call me a scumbag?"
Ling Wei's hand, which was picking at the clod of earth, suddenly stopped.
Oh, this.
At the time, I was simply acting on personal emotions.
But since things have come to this point, and...
For some reason, although Qu Mingyuan hadn't managed to leak the exam questions to her, her heart felt like a sail filled with sea breeze, and words involuntarily floated out:
"You're flirting with me."
Qu Mingyuan blinked blankly, "When...?"
Ling Wei said confidently, "After flirting with me, you act like nothing happened and keep hanging around me. You were even chasing after me just now."
Qu Mingyuan looked down at himself in confusion: "I just... wanted to explain things to you."
Ling Wei said decisively: "Scumbag."
Qu Mingyuan was both amused and exasperated by her logic: "Is this what you call a scumbag?"
"Um."
A thoughtful "oh" came from behind me, followed by silence.
A while later.
"You were lying on my lap last time," Qu Mingyuan suddenly said.
Ling Wei turned her head in disbelief and saw the man looking serious in the moonlight, as if he were challenging her.
"You even pinched my thigh." His ear tips turned a visibly red, and even his neck was tinged with pink, but he still insisted on finishing his sentence, only his speech slowed down significantly, and he chose his words carefully, "You were also... flirting with me."
Director Qu, who has always been upright and prudent, naturally understood the meaning of the word "flirting," but saying it out loud was a first for him in his more than thirty years of life.
Aaaaaaah!
Ling Wei felt her cheeks burning and, without thinking, pounced on him, pressing her entire body against him and covering his mouth with her mud-covered hands without hesitation.
The man, who had been sitting, was thrown backward by her sudden movement and fell into the soft pile of dead leaves.
Qu Mingyuan first opened his eyes wide in surprise, but soon, a gentle smile spread across his calm eyes.
With a touch of awkwardness, he still vaguely uttered the title that was completely unfamiliar to him:
"...a scumbag woman."
The word sounded strangely out of place coming from his mouth, yet it softened because of the natural warmth in his voice.
Ling Wei felt as if a feather had gently brushed against her heart, and her cheeks were burning, but she stubbornly covered Qu Mingyuan's mouth, not allowing him to make another sound.
Qu Mingyuan remained silent, obediently letting her cover his eyes, which shone brightly in the moonlight, clearly reflecting her image.
He lay on a pile of withered grass, a few leaves clinging to his dark hair, and his usually impeccably tailored shirt collar was slightly open, revealing his beautifully shaped collarbone.
The moonlight gilded his handsome features with a silver edge, and even his long eyelashes were tinged with a delicate halo.
His slightly disheveled appearance created a wonderful contrast with his usual dignified and composed demeanor, unexpectedly making him hard to look away from.
Ling Wei swallowed unconsciously, let go of his hand, and tried to climb off him.
The atmosphere was so ambiguous that she was starting to get aroused.
However, a pair of hands gently clasped her waist. Just as she was about to get up halfway, she was stopped by this gentle force and fell back into his firm waist and abdomen.
