Chapter 3 Uncle

Chapter 3 Uncle

Bai Wanqing's makeup didn't seem to be waterproof; her "no-makeup" makeup was a bit smudged, and her hair was clinging messily to her forehead.

Ling Wei's words made her want to refute them, but she couldn't find a way to break through.

Most importantly, although Ling Wei's tone was gentle when she said this, her eyes were cold, and her hand was still gripping the back of her neck. She was really afraid that if she opened her mouth, the other party would push her back into that bucket of foot bath water.

She couldn't help but shiver and dared not speak again.

The world is finally quiet.

Ling Wei was very satisfied. To prevent this person from causing any more trouble, she simply picked her up and threw her onto the bed. Then she wrapped her tightly in the blanket several times, rolling her into a sushi roll with only her head sticking out.

Bai Wanqing: "..."

She tried to move a few times in vain, but found herself completely unable to move. She could only stare at Ling Wei, her mind filled with horror: What does this woman do? How can she be so strong?!

Ling Wei clapped her hands, turned around and looked at the other person on the sofa, wondering if she would have to take some forceful measures if he also didn't cooperate.

It's a lie to say I couldn't move him. Thanks to being a top-paid employee all these years, I've done manual labor, so I still have that much strength.

But she saw Qu Mingyuan quietly watching her, his clear eyes appearing exceptionally deep due to his restraint.

Seeing Ling Wei looking over, he nodded very slightly to her, his voice becoming low and restrained: "Thank you."

Then, a look of apology flashed across his eyes: "I'm sorry, I've dragged you into this. Please hold on a little longer, my men... should be here soon."

He instinctively wanted to reassure her with "Don't be afraid," but when his gaze fell on Ling Wei's calm, even somewhat bored expression, he swallowed the words and instead said gently, "Don't worry, it will be resolved."

As expected of someone who holds a high position at such a young age, even when his own life is in danger, his calm demeanor remains unwavering, and his words carry the weight of a promise, making people instinctively believe in him.

His gaze was clear and gentle, sweeping over Ling Wei and then over Bai Wanqing, who was restless on the bed. His eyes held a kind of impartial scrutiny and tolerance, treating them both as young juniors who needed to be taken care of, clearly distinguishing them and allowing no room for error.

Ling Wei gave a mumbled "hmm" and sat down on the single sofa next to her.

She was actually quite anxious.

After all that commotion, her blood circulation had accelerated, and the medicine was now burning even more intensely within her body.

A wave of heat rose from my limbs and bones, my skin turned a light pink, fine beads of sweat appeared on my forehead, and my breathing became slightly rapid involuntarily.

She could only pinch her palms hard, using the pain to maintain her consciousness.

Bai Wanqing on the bed writhed even more violently, her cheeks flushed an unnatural red, and her eyes glazed over.

"Commander!" she cried out in her mind, "What's going on outside? Has anyone arrived?"

After a brief silence, the system brought back a message: "Weiwei, we've detected him! Qu Mingyuan's nephew, Qu Chen, is on his way here!"

Ling Wei was somewhat surprised. She thought the person Qu Mingyuan was talking about would be his secretary or subordinate, but she didn't expect it to be his nephew.

"This Qu Chen is a bit special," the system added at the right time. "He came here not for his uncle."

Ling Wei's gaze unconsciously fell on the silkworm cocoon on the bed: "For her?"

"Hmm." The system confirmed, then quickly transmitted the information, "Qu Chen's parents died early, and he was raised by his uncle Qu Mingyuan. But at that time, Qu Mingyuan was in the prime of his career and was very busy with official duties, so he inevitably neglected him. The nanny hired by the family saw that Qu Chen was aloof and taciturn, so she had wicked thoughts. On the surface, she was dutiful and responsible, but behind his back, she subjected him to cold violence and mental suppression, and even deliberately locked him in a dark storage room, just so that she could have some peace and quiet."

"By the time Qu Mingyuan noticed something was wrong, Qu Chen had become extremely withdrawn and gloomy, and even dropped out of school for a time. Since then, he has been wary of anyone who gets close to him and his uncle. Perhaps in order to seek absolute control in the virtual world, he has shown amazing computer talent."

"When Bai Wanqing appeared as a tutor, Qu Chen naturally suspected her as well. He thought he had secretly installed a listening program on Bai Wanqing's phone, but little did he know that this action was discovered by the shrewd housekeeper Bai and told to her daughter. Bai Wanqing went with the flow and played along, carefully playing the role of a kind and resilient angel in front of the phone that was being listened to."

"Now, Qu Chen learned from the information he overheard that his goddess was in danger, which is why he rushed here immediately."

The system also added technical details: "The signal here was indeed physically blocked, but he seems to have left a backdoor in some of the resort's internal systems, which allowed him to access surveillance footage and pinpoint the location, thus accurately finding us."

Ling Wei: "..."

This Qu family probably has some feng shui problems; they've attracted all sorts of strange and evil spirits.

Just as I was secretly complaining, I heard a soft "click," and the tightly locked electronic door was opened from the outside.

A tall, upright figure stood against the light at the entrance.

He looked to be about eighteen or nineteen years old and was very tall.

His skin was a pale, unseen white, and his features were handsome and distinct, but his dark eyes were like a deep, still pool, calm and undisturbed.

He stepped in, his gaze sweeping over Ling Wei without any emotion. When his eyes passed over the disheveled Qu Mingyuan on the sofa, he paused slightly, his brows furrowing, and he clicked his tongue in disdain: "To fall for such a low-level trick, how pathetic."

Qu Mingyuan forced himself to lift his head, his voice hoarse from holding back his emotions: "Xiao Chen, take those two out first."

Qu Chen seemed not to hear, walked straight to the bedside, and without even looking, picked up Bai Wanqing, who was wrapped in the blanket, and carried her horizontally, the movement appearing effortless.

Bai Wanqing let out a soft, aggrieved sob in his arms at just the right moment.

"Xiao Chen!" Qu Mingyuan's tone became more forceful, carrying an undeniable authority.

Qu Chen then stopped and turned half of his face to the side, his jawline taut.

Aside from that cold glance he gave Ling Wei when he first entered, he never looked at her a second time.

"Secretary Sun is downstairs," he said calmly, lifting the person in his arms slightly. "Your own people, handle it yourselves. Sister Wanqing's condition is not good; she needs to go to the hospital immediately."

After saying that, without waiting for Qu Mingyuan to speak again, he picked up Bai Wanqing and strode away without looking back. His figure quickly disappeared at the end of the corridor outside the door, leaving the room in silence.
