Chapter 9 "Doctor Chu, are you my fan?"

Chapter 9 "Doctor Chu, are you my fan?"

"Okay, that's enough. You still can't get wet these few days." Chu Yi stuck the last corner of the gauze on Zhou Ai's forehead, stood up and gave instructions again.

He had just taken off one of his iodine-stained disposable surgical gloves and hadn't thrown it into the trash can when he saw Zhou Ai stand in front of the table, looking at the packaging. He even asked him a little aggrievedly, "Aren't you going to eat this?"

He didn’t know if it was Chu Yi’s illusion, but he really felt that Zhou Ai’s tone was a little aggrieved just now.

He paused, then quickly took off his other glove and replied, "I want to eat, thank you."

Zhou Ai raised his eyebrows. It was the first time he met such an unyielding person.

If it were someone else, and the other party asked him three times in a roundabout way whether he wanted to eat it, he would definitely choose to take a bite immediately to show his sincerity.

But Chu Yi still agreed verbally and did not move at all.

"Tear——" Zhou Ai tore open the beautiful paper bag neatly.

Chu Yi stopped in his tracks. He clearly saw that there were several bags of potato chips in the paper bag.

He recognized it immediately; it was the "golden" flavor that had been discontinued for a long time.

In the past, when he went to chase Zhou Ai offline at the airport, Chu Yi always liked to give him a few bags of potato chips of this flavor, but later for some unknown reason, the production was discontinued.

After such a long time, Chu Yi felt a little strange seeing Zhou Ai standing in front of him holding potato chips.

"Thank you." Chu Yi reached out and took the potato chip package handed to him by Zhou Ai, reached into his pocket and grabbed a potato chip and put it in his mouth. It was the "butter cheese" flavor.

In the past, Chu Yi always liked to give Zhou Ai a few more packets of this flavor because he himself also liked this flavor.

Unlike other brands of butter cheese flavor which is just sweet, this flavor of potato chips also has sea salt added to it, making it sweet with a hint of salty.

Zhou Ai suddenly leaned closer and asked, "Is it delicious?"

Too close.

Chu Yi choked suddenly, and the debris entered his trachea, causing him to cough violently.

Zhou Ai's palm naturally rested on his back. Through the thin fabric of the washcloth, Chu Yi's spine could clearly feel the warmth of the other's palm.

"No...it's okay." Chu Yi coughed twice more, then gently pushed away Zhou Ai's hand that was pressed against his back with his other hand. He took a sip of water before continuing, "It tastes pretty good."

Zhou Ai closed the distance between them again. Chu Yi could feel the other person's warm breath wrapped in the coolness of the mint candy just by tilting his head slightly. "I was talking about taking this potato chip commercial."

"Don't you say you don't accept advertisements?" Chu Yi blurted out subconsciously.

As soon as the words came out of his mouth, Chu Yi froze.

The potato chips in my hand broke into pieces between my fingers with a "crunch".

He chewed mechanically, but could not taste anything. He could only hear the deafening sound of his own pounding heartbeat.

"Doctor Chu—" Zhou Ai's tone dragged out like a small hook. "Are you a fan of mine?" He lowered his gaze along Chu Yi's chin, meeting her gaze completely, and asked word for word, "Do you know me so well?"

It was not until he fell into Zhou Ai's amber eyes without warning that Chu Yi suddenly woke up, and the potato chip bag in his hand made a "rustling" sound when he squeezed it.

"There's a younger sister at home who likes you very much. I heard her mention you a few days ago when I went home."

"What about you, Dr. Chu?" Zhou Ai leaned his hands on the armrests of Chu Yi's stool. The other party had not yet realized the danger of this action, and almost his entire body was trapped in Zhou Ai's arms.

"What?" The moment Chu Yi looked up, Zhou Ai saw the clarity in the other's eyes and understood immediately. Chu Yi quietly retreated back into his "shell" again.

He couldn't see even a little bit.

"I say - Dr. Chu, are you my fan?" Zhou Ai's straight gaze did not shrink at all, and he still looked directly into Chu Yi's eyes and repeated it.

Chu Yi stood up and pushed Zhou Ai's body forward, and the distance between them returned to normal.

Zhou Ai saw Chu Yi put the half-pack of potato chips back on the table, and heard him say slowly, "I'm not a fan."

Zhou Ai suddenly smiled. He reached out and picked up the bag of potato chips that Chu Yi had put down on the table. He slowly opened it, picked up a piece and put it in his mouth.

"Not a fan?" He chewed some potato chips, his voice vague but somewhat playful. "Then, Dr. Chu, are you interested in coming to my next concert?"

Chu Yi paused as he straightened his clothes, his fingertips unconsciously curling up. When he turned around again, he saw Zhou Ai waving two concert tickets between her slender fingers in front of him. "The tickets are on the table for you. Remember to come."

The topic changed too quickly. Before Chu Yi could refuse, he saw Zhou Aifeng leave. He only heard the sound of the door being closed.

Chu Yi reached out and picked up the two tickets from the table, turned them left and right, rubbed the tickets lightly with his fingertips, then opened the drawer and put the tickets in.

But there was already an identical ticket lying quietly in the drawer. It was a VIP seat that he had asked someone to buy last month. The seat was not as good as the two given by Zhou Ai, but it also cost a lot of money.

His fingers unconsciously ran across the date on the ticket, he twitched the corner of his mouth, and quickly stuffed the tickets and the bags of potato chips into the drawer and locked it.

———

Xu Yang looked at Zhou Ai, who was leaning against the passenger seat wearing sunglasses, with a sarcastic look. Even through the sunglasses, he could feel that Zhou Ai was in a good mood.

"Happy again?"

Zhou Ai pushed down his sunglasses a little, revealing half of his eyes. He looked at Xu Yang in a good mood and curled his lips, "How did you know?"

"Oh, how should I know?" Xu Yang swung the steering wheel and said through gritted teeth, "The tail behind you is sticking up in the sky."

Zhou Ai was in a rare good mood and didn't care about Xu Yang's insinuation that he was a "puppy". Instead, he pushed his sunglasses back up, rested his head on the pillow, closed his eyes with a smile on his face.

Xu Yang glanced at the curve of Zhou Ai's mouth through the rearview mirror and couldn't help but sneer: "Have the potato chips been given away?"

Zhou Ai's fingertips tapped a beat on the car door armrest, and her smile deepened upon hearing this: "Not only did I give it to him, I even watched him eat a piece." Her eyelashes trembled slightly beneath her sunglasses, and she remembered the reddened corners of Chu Yi's eyes when he choked on the potato chips. "Even the tips of his ears turned red."

"That's it?" Xu Yang swerved to avoid a car that suddenly changed lanes. "You, the big star Zhou, personally gave me the tickets, and this is what I get?"

Zhou Ai suddenly took off his sunglasses, and when Xu Yang turned around he saw his amber eyes filled with smiles in the sunlight.

Xu Yang suddenly remembered something: "Wait, hasn't Golden potato chips been out of production for three years? Where did you—"

"The company that did the potato chip commercial I took on acquired this production line." Zhou Ai put on his sunglasses again, covering up most of his handsome face. Xu Yang heard him say slowly, "Just to replicate this flavor."

Xu Yang nearly slammed on the brakes, his steering wheel slipping. He stared wide-eyed at Zhou Ai, who sat calmly in the passenger seat, his voice rising an octave: "Are you crazy? Just for a few bags of potato chips? Bro...that ad you broke the contract for could buy this company."

"I don't care." Zhou Ai calmly uttered another English sentence that almost made Xu Yang vomit blood.

"But, are you sure he is Pi? What if it's a coincidence? What if they just look alike? I don't think Dr. Chu is the type to chase stars at the airport." Xu Yang was not idle either. He asked three questions and denied them directly, which hit Zhou Ai's heart. Seeing the smile on Zhou Ai's mouth suddenly droop, Xu Yang was satisfied and did not continue to attack.

"Shut up."
