Chapter 10: Virus warms my bed and washes my clothes every day
It is common to encounter other spacecraft during interstellar travel. After all, this route is not opened just for you.
In the stereoscopic image, the starship is stationary, with no signs of movement, or perhaps it is just stopping for a short while.
No one noticed anything unusual, except Ji He, who took a look and felt something was wrong.
"Sergeant Ji, what happened to this starship?"
Ji He said calmly: "This doesn't look like a Federation starship."
"Our thrusters don't have that pattern."
Sergeant Major Alpha next to him yawned, put his hands on his face, and said, "You can also memorize all the thruster drawings."
As soon as he finished speaking, he suddenly remembered that this Beta had scored almost perfect marks in the interstellar joint examination, and he raised his eyebrows and added: "With your level, there must be something you can't access."
Ji He ignored the other party's words and continued, "Sergeant Major, can you send a signal to see if it is our starship?"
“What a waste of time.”
The less you do, the less mistakes you make; the less you do, the better. He is just a non-commissioned officer who just wants to live quietly until he is discharged from the army.
Ji He didn't say anything, thinking about how to convince the other party, when he heard another Alpha speak.
"Sergeant Major, if this is really someone else's aircraft, maybe we can get some credit for it."
The sergeant major did not answer, still feeling troubled, and in his heart he was somewhat relieved by the word "merit".
"Based on the style of the thrusters, I think this is most likely a starship left over from the Imperial Era."
Ji He's tone became more determined. Even though the empire had perished, these two words would still alert all federal soldiers.
"Send a contact signal."
"yes."
The contact signal was received quickly, which was different from what Ji He expected.
Sergeant Alpha rolled his eyes at Sergeant Ji, snorted, and said, "Looking for trouble."
"Why haven't you replied yet?"
Ji He lowered his eyes and said, "Maybe it was transmitted, but we are not on the same channel."
Taliyah walked to the control center, looked at the gray starship in the stereo image, and asked, "What's going on?"
The originally lazy sergeant major suddenly jumped up from his seat and gave Lieutenant Talia a standard salute.
"Chief Instructor, I found a suspicious starship and sent a signal to contact the Federation, but there has been no response yet."
Alpha said "I" instead of "we", obviously trying to take credit.
Talia nodded and continued to ask, "What about the channel we just mentioned?"
Ji He stepped forward and explained, "There are some classified research starships that can receive signals from various channels, but can only send information from a single channel."
Talia thought for a moment, then turned on her computer, and a virtual image of Metis appeared.
"Metis, help me check it out."
Metis quickly responded, "I'm sorry, Lieutenant Talia, there is no such information in the Federation aircraft database."
"Is it because I don't have enough authority?"
Metis shook her head and continued to reply in a sweet voice: "No, based on big data analysis, I reasonably suspect that this is not our starship."
The analysis given by Metis is almost the same as what Ji He just said.
The reconnaissance airship that was sent out encountered no danger and returned quickly after flying around.
That huge gray creature looked like a prehistoric monster, and its origin was unknown.
"I have already reported it. If you have indeed found anything, I will give you credit."
"Thank you, Lieutenant."
Talia turned to look at Ji He and asked, "Do you have any way to open this starship?"
Ji He looked embarrassed and answered with only one word: "Explode."
"Then let's wait for the demolition team to arrive."
This little episode was quickly resolved, and when everyone returned to Planet No. 2, Li Ran had just been released from the confinement cell a few days ago.
In the private dormitory.
"Help me with the laundry."
Li Ran threw the clothes directly to Xu Tianyang. He should have covered his face with the clothes as before, but Cheng Zhi caught them with his hand and they fell to the ground.
"You go to the fully automatic laundry room by yourself, and ask others to do something."
Li Ran still had that explosive temper, just like his name, flammable and explosive.
"I didn't call you, why are you so anxious?"
"Go out for a while, is this stutter yours or what?"
Cheng Zhidai was in front of Xu Tianyang. He just couldn't stand Li Ran's behavior. They were all the same soldiers, so why did he treat his comrades like this?
Xu Tianyang gently pulled Cheng Zhi's arm, walked in front of Li Ran and looked him in the eye.
"Yo, even a stutterer can glare at people."
"I look down on you."
This time Xu Tianyang did not stutter. He thought of Instructor Ji and Cheng Zhi, looked at the disgusting Li Ran in front of him, and repeated it again.
"I look down on you."
"What the fuck did you say!" Li Ran screamed and wanted to fight, but was pulled away by the people next to him.
"Xu Tianyang, just wait for me. When I become a school officer, I will appoint you as my subordinate and you will warm my bed and wash my clothes every day."
The boring training continued, and a hole was blown in the mysterious starship deep in the nebula.
This is indeed a starship left over from the Imperial Era. According to the analysis of the technical department, this aircraft had run out of energy and could only stay where it was, and was sucked into a wormhole for more than a hundred years. No one knows how it ended up here.
In addition to the corpses of several Imperial survivors, there were also many Alpha glands that were dissected out individually, as well as some medicines. It was indeed the research starship that Ji He had hypothesized.
"Doctor, the analysis results are out. It is a genetic virus targeting Alph tropin. The specific fragments have not yet been decomposed."
Ascle, wearing a white coat, repeated: "Gene virus?"
"Yes, it will damage the endocrine system and the nervous system."
Ascle thought of something and asked, "Has the animal research been done?"
Researcher Beta nodded and unfolded the computer in front of him, which recorded the situation of the experimental monkeys implanted with Alpha artificial glands facing this unknown virus.
"The experimental group showed that the virus can change the secretion function of the Alpha gland at the genetic level, causing pheromone disorder."
"Well, let me take a look."
Ascle leaned back and opened Huo Yubai's medical records again, stretching his hand in the air as if turning the pages.
"What a coincidence."
But Huo Yubai's genes have not changed, and as Ji He has accompanied people through the susceptible period time and time again, the fluctuation of Alph hormone has shown a trend of returning to normal values.
Although this seems normal on the surface, it is due to the Alpha's pheromones that lead him to mistakenly identify Ji He as an Omega who can be marked.
As Ascle was thinking and rubbing his nose, a terrible guess suddenly came to his mind.
What if someone used a primary genetic virus to create a more powerful viral weapon?
Who are they then? What do they want to do?
"Doctor, your nutritional supplements have arrived."
Ascle shook his head, thinking that he was thinking too much.
It’s better to watch less apocalyptic movies late at night, as they are quite scary.
At the same time, Ji He was about to enter the fully automatic laundry room when he saw Lieutenant Gu passing by.
"Lieutenant Gu, you haven't left yet?"
"Do you really want me to leave?" Gu Chaowen came over and wanted to touch the person's face again.
Ji He turned his head away, waved his hands repeatedly, and explained: "That's not what I meant."
Suddenly, two light coughs were heard in the air, and a pair of dark eyes swept over. It was Colonel Huo.
The usual chatting and playing became ambiguous in Alpha's eyes.
"Colonel."
Ji He had a calm expression on his face. After saluting, he went into the fully automatic laundry room.
The latest equipment is completely silent, but it's not good to be too quiet, because he won't be able to help but listen to the movements of Alpha at the door.
"What's wrong with you? Did you have a fight?" Gu Chaowen leaned against the wall, but only got a slight frown from Huo Yubai, which was not really an answer.
Lieutenant Gu moved his neck, pointed at the bag of clothes Colonel Huo was carrying, and said, "Why don't you let the transporter robot deliver the clothes? Wouldn't it be more troublesome for you to go there yourself?"
“Not clean.”
The conveyor robot has a lot of work to do. Although it is sprayed with disinfectant alcohol every time it operates, many people still feel that they have to pick up their own underwear.
Huo Yubai is one of them.
Gu Chaowen just rolled his eyes and said sarcastically, "How hypocritical."
Colonel Huo went in with the clothes, and there was no empty fully automatic washing system, so he looked up at Sergeant Ji.
"Jihe."
"Yes, Colonel."
"Do you have any opinion about me?"
"Colonel, no."
Ji He's tone of voice was cold when he answered, without a trace of emotion in it.
But the colonel felt that he must still be angry, but there was no evidence.
"You haven't used your family leave this year yet. Do you want to go back? I can approve your leave."
Ji He was silent for a while, then smiled briefly and said, "Thank you, Colonel, but you may have forgotten that I am an orphan."
Huo Yubai felt more comfortable after being choked by this, than when this person was so respectful and polite to him just now.
"Feel sorry."
"There's nothing to be sorry about."
"Do you want to go to the Capital Planet?"
Ji He was thrown off balance by this nonsensical question and asked, "What?"
"My grandmother is celebrating her birthday, so I have to go back for a while. I remember your school is on the capital planet, so if you go there as my follower, it won't be counted as part of your vacation."
There was a faint scent of detergent soap floating in the air.
“Is this considered a job assignment?”
Huo Yubai did not answer, but asked, "Do you have any other plans?"
"I……"
The man's face was cold, and his voice was lowered by three points: "With that Alpha?"
"If so, this is a job assignment that cannot be refused."
Ji He frowned slightly, not satisfied with Alpha's autocracy.
“Beep——”
When Huo Yubai saw that it was Ascle who was looking for him, he handed the bag of clothes to Ji He and asked him to send it back when the time came, then turned and left.
The man's departing figure gradually became blurred. Ji He opened the laundry bag, which contained Colonel Huo's underwear.
There was no one around, so Ji He picked up one of the white vests, lowered his head, his eyes flashing, and moved closer to sniff.
Beta's breathing became rapid and heavy, and every second was filled with endless desire.
Although he couldn't smell the pheromones, he could imagine the scent of cypress.
