Chapter 40 Peach Pie

Chapter 40 Peach Pie

"Do you like it?" Su Xia's dimples said sweetly, "I'll apply it on you after dinner."

Jiangcheng is a first-tier coastal city, and the school discipline is not too strict.

Normally in school, student union officials check students' appearance. On occasions like group outings, they don't care as long as the style isn't too exaggerated.

School uniforms still had to be worn, but the girls all tacitly got up early and put a lot of thought into taking beautiful photos with their sisters.

Some people wore earth-toned eyeshadow, some secretly put on double eyelid stickers, some learned to wear colored contact lenses by following instructional videos... they were all so excited.

Su Xia got up early in the morning, curled her bangs, and quickly put on some nude makeup.

I haven't dressed up much since my rebirth, so I feel like I've gone a little overboard.

The team marched to the front of the bus and put the boxes away.

While waiting to get on the bus, Su Xia couldn't help but look at the car door glass twice more, wiping her mouth while looking. Because she was too engrossed, she soon fell from the middle of the line to the end.

There was only her shadow in the glass.

When Su Xia changed her hand and was about to use her little finger to carefully blend the edge of the lipstick, someone came behind her.

Wearing a short-sleeved school uniform, he is tall and thin with fair skin, broad shoulders and long legs, and has a sharp jawline.

Xu Jiqing was carrying a bag on one shoulder, as if he had just arrived, and he stood beside her silently.

Su Xia's heart skipped a beat. She quickly lowered her hands and stood up straight. She said awkwardly, "...I was just looking for you. Why are you so late?"

“There are no buses in the morning.”

Xu Jiqing opened his mouth, but he was looking in the direction of her lips.

He seemed very interested in what she had just done.

Su Xia couldn't continue, and didn't bother to pick out the logical flaws in his question, "There's no bus in the morning, so how can you get to school at 6:30?" She tried to find a topic to talk about, "Have you put your luggage away?"

"I don't have any luggage."

"Is that so?" Su Xia took two steps to the right and walked forward with her head lowered. "Teacher Ding is urging us to go up."

"good."

Xu Jiqing's voice was always cold, but Su Xia didn't know where she got the intuition from, she always felt that he seemed to be in a good mood.

Sitting in the first row next to the door were the tour guide and Teacher Ding.

The small TV in the car was on, playing a promotional video for rural tourism at the destination, showing the lush greenery and beautiful scenery of a tea plantation.

Because of the special occasion, Teacher Ding changed her usual serious style of dress into a light green long skirt, looking particularly amiable.

The front row was already half full, and Teacher Ding picked up the loudspeaker to direct order. "Students who are coming up, please move to the back and fill the empty seats in order. Don't stop and don't take seats for students who haven't come up yet."

"It's only a three-hour journey. The earlier we leave, the earlier we arrive. Efficiency is paramount. It's not too late to reunite with our friends after getting off the bus. Let's get over it."

Su Xia was stunned.

She had long forgotten such trivial matters as seating arrangements.

He Miao was sitting in the very front row, poking his head out like he was playing whack-a-mole. Next to him was a very quiet girl wearing glasses.

Seeing Su Xia looking at him, He Miao showed a pitiful expression, raised his cell phone and shook it, motioning her to look.

Su Xia walked back slowly and picked up her phone to check the message.

He Miao posted ten minutes ago: [Wow, wow, Xia Xia, Teacher Ding said we should sit in the order we boarded the bus, and we can't get off and re-arrange.]

If I had known this, I wouldn't have come up early to reserve a seat.

Su Xia also felt quite regretful and replied with a hug and caress emoji, "It's okay, we can play together after we wake up and get off the car."

Not being able to sit with He Miao is not necessarily a 100% bad thing.

At least, she saw that Xu Jiqing's wish not to fight was heard by God.

It was still early, and many boys in the class had stayed up late playing games last night. They were all extremely sleepy and quickly fell asleep.

The curtains on both sides of the bus were drawn, and the cool air from the air conditioner was filled with a faint blue darkness.

Su Xia looked back with her bag on her back. There were no empty seats, so she sat in the back row by the window.

Xu Jiqing stood in the aisle, put his backpack on the luggage rack first, and stretched out his hand to Su Xia, "Put it on?"

"Wait a moment."

Su Xia's bag looked bulging, but it was actually filled with inflated snacks. It didn't weigh much. She had been planning to use it as a pillow to cuddle while sleeping, but when he asked her that, she unzipped it and pulled out a wrinkled wheat bag. Then she handed the bag to him, "Thank you."

Xu Jiqing sat down next to her.

In the bag was the breakfast that Su Xiaojuan had packed. Mai Manfen had already finished eating it, and there were two pies left, one with chocolate filling and the other with peach filling.

Su Xia wanted to please him, so she handed the chocolate pie over. Seeing that the boys around her were all asleep, she whispered, "This is for you. If you haven't eaten yet, use it as breakfast. If you have, use it as a snack."

Xu Jiqing is very thin-skinned.

This kind of shy child has to be accompanied by others before eating, and feels embarrassed to eat alone.

After two months, Su Xia already called herself an observer of Xu Jiqing. She first opened the peach pie and took a small bite.

The food was served not long ago and the filling was still hot, which made her hiss.

When she looked up, Xu Jiqing was still sitting next to her, holding the chocolate pie in one hand, just looking at her.

His eyes were pale, stained a glassy blue by the sunlight filtering through the curtains.

His eyes moved from her syrup-soaked lips to the wet lipstick marks on the peach pie, and stopped at her red-smeared fingers.

Su Xia felt uneasy after being stared at. She guessed what he meant for a long time, "Do you want to eat this of mine more?"

Xu Jiqing nodded.

His expression was calm, and his eyes were always downcast, as if he was more interested in the peach pie in her hand.

"Okay, I'll switch with you."

Su Xia raised her hand, pinched a clean tissue from the bag, and was about to break off the piece she had bitten.

Xu Jiqing turned his head, closed his eyes lightly, sniffed it barely perceptibly, and then covered the half circle of faint lipstick marks with her hand.

Xu Jiqing found it difficult to understand what he was doing.

He seemed to have developed some kind of misplaced conditioned reflex.

Ever since that time at KFC, the way she tasted, the way she looked.

Her sparkling lip gloss and her outstretched hand were like the ringing of bells, each of which tugged at his nerves and made him thirsty.

He was a strange man, and Su Xia didn't seem to be afraid of it.

This realization made him confused and delighted.

He observed her, ready to step back at any time, but he indulged himself again and again and followed his inner impulse, testing how tolerant Su Xia could be of him.

The girl seemed to be frightened by him and didn't move for a long time.

After Xu Jiqing swallowed the half of the pie that was still exposed, Su Xia blinked awkwardly and hesitated to say, "I've taken a bite."

...and lipstick on it, it's quite obvious.

Children who are used to living a hard life don’t have obsessive-compulsive disorder and can eat anything.

If no one teaches a child when he is young, many of his behaviors will be a little strange, regardless of what he thinks.

Even though Su Xia repeated it in her mind several times, she was still a little at a loss. When she looked at Xu Jiqing again, she always felt that his thin lips were particularly red, as if her lip gloss had been rubbed onto his lips.

She felt so guilty that she didn't even dare to raise her head.

The bus started.

Amid the humming sound of brakes, Xu Jiqing took the peach pie from her hand and said, "I didn't notice."

"It's okay if I didn't notice... Next time, tell me what you want to eat in advance. Don't be embarrassed, okay?" Su Xia whispered. To comfort him, and even more to comfort herself, her tone was very sincere. "We are friends."

She said the last sentence tentatively.

After a while, Xu Jiqing didn't refute. Su Xia instantly jumped out of the awkward atmosphere and pursed her lips happily, "Do you want more chocolate pie?"

Xu Jiqing looked at her for a while, swallowed the last two bites of peach pie without chewing, and said, "I'm full."
