Chapter 60 Past and Future

Chapter 60 Past and Future

With his eyes closed, Kurosawa Jin descended with a gust of air, and the sound of flowing water reached his ears, its gentle murmur cleansing his soul.

"Tick-tock—"

It seemed as if a drop of water was falling into a body of water, making a tinkling sound, followed by one, two, three... The water droplets were relentlessly knocking on the heart of Kurosawa Jin.

In an instant, Kurosawa Jin suddenly opened his eyes. After a brief moment of confusion, he looked around and saw a strange black and white space. The world was divided into two parts by a line, which was very symmetrical.

His left side was black, an endless expanse of black, and his right side was white, an endless expanse of white. He stood with one foot on the black side and the other on the white side.

Two doors stood two meters away from the Kurosawa Formation, but unexpectedly, the door inside the black space was white, and the door inside the white space was black.

"It looks a bit like... the Bagua (Eight Trigrams)." Kurosawa Jin recalled an ancient pattern from a certain ancient Eastern country.

He arrived at this mysterious space after being injected with the drug by Negroni. To be honest, Kurosawa Jin was a little curious about what kind of scenery would be inside those two doors.

Following his own ideas, Kurosawa Jin boldly took two steps forward. Just as he took those steps, the white door in the dark space on his left opened automatically, as if urging Kurosawa Jin to go there.

He stared at the open white door for a while, then glanced at the black door, and a rebellious feeling suddenly welled up inside him.

He refused to go to the White Gate, so Kurosawa Jin turned and gripped the doorknob of the Black Gate.

However, after trying for a long time, Kurosawa Jin couldn't budge the handle at all.

"Alright, alright, let me see what's inside the White Gate. Why do you insist on sending me there?" Kurosawa Jin compromised and took a few steps to stand in front of the White Gate.

Standing at the door, he still couldn't see what was inside; a curtain of light blocked his view. He smiled, a hint of interest rising in his heart.

The silver-haired, black-clad youth lifted his leg and stepped through the door, a blinding light flashing as he passed through.

"twitter!"

Suddenly, all sorts of sounds came to my ears: faint bird calls, indistinct sobs, and the sound of vehicles moving in the distance.

Without warning, he was transported from a silent space to a noisy world. Kurosawa Jin scratched his ears, feeling a little uncomfortable, and then observed his new surroundings.

The cemetery. He quickly came to a conclusion.

Beneath rows of neatly arranged rectangular cement tombstones lie sleeping souls, while small groups of people wander among the tombstones, their weeping filled with longing for the departed.

"Hmm?" At that moment, Kurosawa Jin was drawn to an old tombstone and quickly walked over.

The tombstone in front of me was covered with moss, indicating that it had been there for many years. There was no photo, but it bore a familiar name—Kurosawa Jin.

Kurosawa Jin raised an eyebrow. This world didn't seem to be the one he had just been in. After faking his death, he had looked at his own tombstone, and it wasn't like this.

The tombstone was covered with a thick layer of dust, indicating that no one had come to sweep the grave for a long time.

Since he was already there, he figured he might as well wipe himself down while he was at it. So, Kurosawa Jin grabbed a rag from somewhere and started cleaning the tombstone from top to bottom.

After wiping for a long time, he stood up and nodded in satisfaction at the newly renovated tombstone.

As he paused and looked around, a golden light suddenly flashed in Heize Zhen's field of vision. The golden light floated down to the ground and turned into footprints, guiding Heize Zhen forward.

"Does this mean I should follow along?" He lifted his foot to follow, a strange sense of anticipation rising within him.

Following the golden footprints, Kurosawa Jin soon arrived at a café. In the outdoor dining area in front of the café, he saw a familiar person—Ichihara Haruhiko. The moment he saw him, Kurosawa Jin was certain of his previous guess.

Haruhiko Ichihara had gray hair and wrinkles on his face, making him look to be in his fifties or sixties. He had changed quite a bit, but despite this, Jin Kurosawa could still recognize him.

Haruhiko Ichihara was wearing reading glasses and squinting as he read a law book. He looked calm and amiable now, unlike the cold and aloof man he had been in his youth.

Kurosawa Jin walked over and sat down naturally. "Hello, sir, may I sit here?"

“Okay.” Haruhiko Ichihara nodded, completely absorbed in the book.

Wait a minute, this voice sounds familiar. Images of his former classmates flashed through his mind, but he dismissed it as a coincidence. He slowly raised his head, wanting to see the young man who had the same voice as Kurosawa Jin.

He was shocked when he looked. A silver-haired, blue-eyed young man sat smiling opposite him, perfectly alive and well.

The old man, Haruhiko Ichihara, couldn't believe it. He took off his reading glasses, wiped them, and put them back on, beginning to wonder if he was hallucinating.

Seeing the other party's reactions, Kurosawa Jin's smile widened, and he said, "Haruhiko, it's been a long time."

I thought it was someone who looked similar, but the other person accurately said his name!

Haruhiko Ichihara's materialist views were severely challenged.

"Ahhh... Ah Jin! You... You... You ghost!"

Haruhiko Ichihara stammered "you" for a long time, his mouth agape but unable to utter a single word.

It's a ghost! It's a real ghost!!!

He stood there frozen, silent for a long time before accepting the truth. Perhaps Ah-Zhen was tired of being in heaven and wanted to come down and see for himself.

As the initial shock subsided, a wave of sadness washed over Haruhiko Ichihara, and tears welled up in his eyes. Decades had passed, and to be able to see the deceased again was an immense stroke of luck.

He stood up, rushed over and hugged Kurosawa Jin, patted the other's shoulder, and murmured, "It's good that you're back, it's good that you're back."

"Yes, I'm back." Kurosawa Jin patted the other's shoulder in return.

Old friends reunited after a long separation, their emotions a mix of sorrow and joy. Kurosawa Jin followed Ichihara Haruhiko on a tour of his house, where they met his descendants and heard many interesting stories.

Time passed quickly, and the sunset painted the clouds on the horizon and the walls inside the house red.

“You’re still the same as before, while I’ve grown old.” Haruhiko Ichihara sat on the sofa wiping a photo frame. The frame contained a picture of Haruhiko Ichihara, Jin Kurosawa, and Yo Inoshita taken when they graduated from police academy.

Kurosawa Jin stood by the window, looking outside. If there were cigarettes, he would have lit one right now.

The golden light flashed before his eyes again, indicating that he wouldn't be able to stay there for long.

"Haruhiko." Kurosawa Jin called out to Ichihara Haruhiko.

"You...you're leaving?" Haruhiko Ichihara seemed to sense something, his eyes filled with reluctance.

"Uh-huh."

The golden light grew stronger and stronger, and when the silver-haired youth was completely enveloped in it, he slowly disappeared and vanished.

Returning to the black and white space, Kurosawa Jin was still unsatisfied and couldn't forget it for a long time. At this moment, the white door was nowhere to be seen, while the black door that couldn't be opened before was ajar.

This time, Kurosawa Jin walked into the Black Gate without hesitation.

A familiar white space came into view; this was the room where Kurosawa Jin had been before he fell into a coma.

"Am I back?" Kurosawa Jin looked at his body. He was currently floating in the air as a soul. Directly below him, a body exactly like his was lying on the operating table, being hypnotized by Negroni.

"You are Gin, the organization's assassin..." Negroni stated calmly, instilling a programmed setting into the soulless body.

Kurosawa Jin wanted to stop him, but his body had no physical form and he couldn't touch anything.

This was the first time Kurosawa Jin had ever felt such a powerful sense of powerlessness. He could do nothing but watch helplessly as his body was controlled by Negroni.

What would happen without Kurosawa Jin's intervention? Obviously, the plot would proceed in the direction of the original work.

Kurosawa Jin watched the plot unfold like a movie, seeing his own body repeatedly harm his friend, while he, floating in the air, was powerless to do anything about it.

Gin commits murder and arson, acts recklessly and evilly, and confronts the Red Gang led by Conan until the very end.

In the finale, Shuichi Akai, with the FBI, and Rei Furuya, with the Public Security Bureau, storm the organization's hideout and engage in a final, desperate battle with the organization.

In a final battle, someone always has to sacrifice. As an undercover agent, Rei Furuya faced off against Gin.

"Clang!" The bullet was chambered, and Gin, covered in bruises, aimed the gun at the forehead of Rei Furuya, who was lying on the ground.

"Damn it!" The soul form of Kurosawa Jin angrily lunged at his own body, trying to regain control, but without a doubt, he failed.

"Hahaha, give up." Negroni's evil voice came from behind.

"You can see me!" Kurosawa Jin turned around in shock.

“Yes.” Negroni approached slowly, appearing remarkably calm amidst the background noise of gunfire. “You must be in a lot of pain right now. I told you I’d make you wish you were dead.”

"Don't worry, it will be even more painful later."

"No!" Kurosawa Jin knew what Negroni was about to do.

“Kill him, Gin.”

"Bang!"

Rei Furuya's head was pierced, and blood mixed with fragments of human tissue splattered everywhere. He was dead.

"Haha, not only will he die, but many others will die too. You can't stop the Alliance!" Negroni shouted.

The scene shifted to a raging fire, with Negroni gripping Gu Gu's neck and Zhang Tongri lying unconscious at his feet.

"Hahahaha, Kurosawa Jin, you've failed! Your world will be destroyed by the Alliance!" Negroni continued to laugh triumphantly, stating the facts.

What's going on? The scene transition came so fast! Something's not right!

Kurosawa Jin recalled everything that had just happened and found that some details simply couldn't stand up to scrutiny.

Where's Conan? Where did he go? How could Rei Furuya, such a popular character, possibly be dead...?

This isn't real!

In a flash of inspiration, the Black Swamp Formation glimpsed the truth of everything. In that instant, the golden light that had not appeared for a long time once again enveloped the Black Swamp Formation.

In less than a second, Kurosawa Jin returned to the original black and white space, and the black door disappeared as well.

"What exactly is going on?" Kurosawa Jin began to ponder.

He was injected with a drug by Negroni, and theoretically he should have been unconscious. However, he still had thoughts and memories, which means that someone interfered with Negroni.

After much thought, Kurosawa Jin decided that it was probably the others who saved him.

Speak of the devil, and he appears; whenever Kurosawa Jin thought of her, Gu Gu's calls echoed throughout the space.

"Kurosawa Formation! Kurosawa Formation!"

"Kurosawa Formation! Kurosawa Formation!"

"Smack."

A suction force pulled Kurosawa Jin entirely away, plunging him into a black vortex...
