Chapter 71 Getting Involved
At 2:00 PM, Conan Edogawa, riding his high-tech skateboard, followed behind the fake ambulance, carefully controlling his speed to avoid giving himself away while keeping an eye on the tracking red dot on his glasses.
Honestly, I often put myself in danger myself, and last time I was called reckless! Conan thought to himself as he smoothly maneuvered his skateboard around an obstacle.
The bustling streets and dense buildings gradually receded into the distance, and the roads became increasingly quiet and narrow.
After passing through a few groves of trees, a villa came into view. This desolate and sparsely populated place was a natural fit for rats to build their nests.
It was a beige building, three stories high. From the front, a large red door was set in the middle of the first floor, and windows with privacy films were embedded in each floor, like the gaping maw and dark eyes of a demon.
The ambulance was parked in front of the villa, next to a small truck. The two fake doctors were carrying the "goods" they had just acquired into the villa.
After observing for a moment, Conan hid the skateboard in the grass and, without a second thought, sprinkled a handful of dirt on it to blend it into the brown earth.
He approached the villa with his short legs, feeling somewhat stealthy.
Getting inside through the main entrance is impossible; it's too dangerous. We have to find another entrance.
Conan went around to the back of the villa from the side and found a small, locked red wooden door and a window. He stood on tiptoe and peered through the window.
Seeing that no one was inside, he became even bolder in his observation. It seemed to be a kitchen, and there were signs of use, with unwashed fresh vegetables on the stove.
Conan narrowed his eyes, thinking about how to get in. His eyes swept around and inadvertently fell on the flower pot under the windowsill.
His keen detective instincts told him there must be a clue here.
The soil in the flowerpot showed signs of being disturbed, and if nothing unexpected happened, it would turn upside down... Conan thought to himself as he dug into the soil.
"Ah, the key!" He held up the mud-covered key, a smug smile playing on his lips.
Opening the red wooden door with the key, the entire kitchen came into view, filled with the aroma of cooking. The stove and range hood were covered with a thick layer of yellow grease, and the sink was full of limescale.
Without giving Conan a chance to examine the room closely, he headed straight for another door, turned the doorknob slightly, opened the wooden door a crack, and scanned everything in the lobby on the first floor.
Perhaps it was the protagonist's halo at work, but there was still no one on the first floor, so he slipped into the lobby.
The lobby was piled with medical equipment that looked like it was scrapped, and the staircase was built in the northwest corner, making it very conspicuous.
Directly in front of Conan, not far from the kitchen door, there is a simple dining table covered with a pure white tablecloth. There are four cups on the table and four chairs around it.
Four people? Conan deduced, stroking his chin.
Just then, the sound of footsteps on the stairs interrupted Conan's thoughts. He quickly hid under the dining table, letting the tablecloth cover his body.
"Da da da!"
Conan held his breath and stared at the feet of the people coming down. One, two, three... six! Six feet, three people.
"Remember to get that kid we just brought in to the operating room before three o'clock. Nakagawa will come at three to remove his organs," a rough male voice said with a hint of command.
"Be careful, the anesthesia will wear off in half an hour. If he gets too restless, give him another injection of anesthesia."
Upon hearing the words "organ removal," Conan's hand covering his mouth trembled, and his heart began to beat faster.
"Three o'clock? Why is it an hour earlier today?" It was a young voice.
"That big shot is coming again tonight. I'm going to get the goods with Bucktooth now. You better be alert and don't let me see you slacking off in the break room again," the man who seemed to be the boss warned.
"Haha, I understand, I understand." The young man chuckled dryly, agreeing verbally, but judging from his perfunctory tone, he probably wouldn't change his mind.
The boss seemed unable to do anything about this person, and left with a cold snort.
Only after hearing the sound of a car starting outside and the young man going back upstairs did Conan feel relieved enough to crawl out from under the dining table.
Big clients, three points, organ harvesting... Conan silently recited the information he had just received, trying to get help from it.
Now that the two fake doctors have left, this is the best time to find Gu Ze. If he guesses correctly, only that young man is left in the villa. As long as he is careful, he can definitely avoid that man's sight.
After analyzing the situation, Conan felt that he was completely fine, so he headed up to the second floor.
He tiptoed up the stairs to the second floor and entered a dark, deep corridor. The corridor wasn't very long, but it gave Conan a feeling that it had no end. It was deathly still, and what was even more terrifying was that there were bloody scratch marks on the walls of the corridor.
The door to the lounge next to the stairs was ajar, letting in a sliver of light. Loud snoring could be heard from inside. Conan peeked through the crack in the door and saw an ordinary-looking young man sleeping on the sofa.
"This guy's got some nerve!" Conan thought to himself, while feeling lucky with his own luck.
Without any obstacles, Conan changed his tense demeanor and searched all the rooms on the second floor without restraint, finally finding Gu Ze at the end of the corridor.
The handsome young man lay on the bed, his eyes closed, his head slightly tilted, his breathing shallow, cosplaying as Sleeping Beauty.
"Brother Gu Ze! Wake up!" Conan grabbed Gu Ze's clothes on the shoulder and shook him violently, as if he wanted to shake Gu Ze's brains out.
"I'm awake, stop shaking me! Stop shaking me!" Gu Ze opened one eyelid and pulled his arm out of Conan's hand.
"Conan, I knew you wouldn't stay in a safe place."
Gu Ze slowly stood up, straightened his loosened collar, and turned to look at Conan, who was staring at him with half-moon eyes.
Our Grim Reaper elementary school student was speechless. This was the lair of an organ trafficking organization, so why was this person so relaxed?
"Let's go back. The guards here are sleeping in the break room. Let's leave quickly while no one's around," Conan said, pushing Gu Ze, who had gotten off the bed, towards the door.
"No, no, no! Now is not the time to leave. My plan is only halfway through." Gu Ze pulled out a miniature camera from somewhere and waved it in front of Conan.
"This is... a camera."
"Yes, I came here specifically to collect evidence for my side hustle." Gu Ze walked in front of Conan, opened the door, and gestured for Conan to follow him.
The brown-haired youth opened each room on the second floor, taking photos as evidence. After taking photos of the second floor, he took photos of the third floor. He was very familiar with the place, as if he were in his own home. It was clear that he had done this many times before.
This piqued Conan's curiosity about the side business Gu Ze mentioned.
"Hey, Gu Ze, isn't the side job you mentioned a detective?" After taking pictures of the third floor, Conan followed Gu Ze to the first floor.
"No, being a detective is my main job, as for my side job... guess!" Gu Ze slapped the medical equipment in the lobby on the first floor, and his mouth was also busy, saying some teasing things to Conan.
Conan rolled his eyes at Gu Ze, feeling even more that the other man was mysterious and unpredictable.

"OK, all done!" Gu Ze put his hands on his hips, looked at Conan, and handed the miniature camera full of evidence to Conan.
"What are you doing?"
“There’s a bunch of trash cans next to the villa. Take this and hide inside. Someone will come to pick you up in the evening, and then you hand the camera to them.”
"Did you understand? If you understand, then you can leave." Gu Ze pointed to the door, a smile playing on his lips.
"Nani! Aren't you leaving?"
"Mmm, I'm not leaving."
“There are still twenty minutes until three o’clock. If we don’t leave now, that doctor will come and cut you open and remove your organs!” Conan pointed to his watch and looked at Gu Ze in disbelief.
"What exactly do you want?!"
"Don't worry, I've arranged everything perfectly, nothing will go wrong." Gu Ze looked at Conan with his big almond-shaped eyes and said what he had thought about for a long time.
As Gu Ze spoke, he walked towards the stairs without looking back, as if he was going back to his previous room to lie down.
"You said I was reckless, but now it seems you're no different from me." Conan anxiously chased after Gu Ze.
"I promise, even if I go on that operating table, I won't die. You have to believe me. I have a very rigorous and meticulous plan, and I am fully prepared!"
"What you need to do now is complete your own task, don't follow me." Gu Ze stopped Conan, who was clinging to him, and pushed him away from the stairs.
After pushing Conan to the front door, Gu Ze's figure disappeared into the stairwell under Conan's watchful gaze.
Conan stood in the shadows of the gate, arms crossed, fiddling with a small camera in his hand. His small figure had his head down, lost in thought, his bangs obscuring his eyes.
He's Sherlock Holmes's apprentice, the great detective Shinichi Kudo! There's no way he'd just leave obediently! Otherwise, he wouldn't be Kudo!
After carefully putting away the camera, Conan walked briskly up to the third floor. He had just been to the third floor with Gu Ze and knew where the operating room was.
14:45.
Inside the operating room on the third floor of the villa, Conan hid in the metal cabinet inside the operating room; his child-sized body fit comfortably inside.
The surgical environment here is very basic. There are bloodstains left by the previous unfortunate patient on the operating table, and there is a shelf with various surgical tools next to it.
The main focus is on a full-scale attack by all bacteria!
In the quiet room, Conan peered through the gap in the cabinet at the operating table in the center of the operating room, and he could almost hear his own heartbeat.
Five minutes later, footsteps came from outside, and the operating room door opened.
The young man who loved to slack off carried Gu Ze, who looked like a dead fish, in, making people marvel at his strength.
The young man placed Gu Ze on the operating table and roughly bound Gu Ze's hands and feet with restraints.
Having done all that, the young man's work was basically done. He glanced around the operating room, but paused for a moment at the cabinet where Conan was hiding. Fortunately, the young man didn't find anything in the end.
"Knock knock knock──"
Conan took a deep breath; those ten seconds felt like an eternity, and he felt his heart was about to jump out of his throat.
That's so exciting! It's incredibly exciting!
