Chapter 97 The Death of Gu Ze - Conan's Intelligence Station
Fighting against your own alternate account is a great experience.
As Kurosawa sparred with Gu Ze, he thought to himself.
Kurosawa's combat prowess was hampered by the inability to damage the armor.
But this did not deter him; the disparity in strength allowed Kurosawa to quickly subdue Gu Ze.
[Kurosawa Jin: Little C, transfer the soul.]
He pressed Gu Ze to the ground without a second thought.
[Ding! Transferring, please do not disconnect.]

The moment the clone's soul transferred to the original body, Gu Ze stopped struggling and collapsed to the ground as if he had lost consciousness.
Listening to Little C's report and feeling his soul strengthening, Kurosawa Jin breathed a slight sigh of relief.
[Transfer completion rate, 50%...51%...]
He scooped Gu Ze up from the ground, wrapped one arm around the waist of the vest and lifted it up, the vest's head and hands hanging down naturally, like a corpse.
And so, Kurosawa Jin, with one hand protecting Gu Ze and the other clinging to the helicopter's rope ladder, continued his mission.
He shouted to Morofushi Kagemitsu above, "Pull me up!"
The rope ladder was slowly rising, while the helicopter was also taking off, at a height of about three stories above the ground.
The wind blew his long silver hair, which flew wildly in the wind. His tall figure was wrapped in a black coat, and Kurosawa Jin now looked like a madman who had taken hostages.
This is the scene that Conan saw when he arrived.
"Sizzle—" He drifted and came to a smooth stop on the outskirts of the accident scene.
After he overheard the news that Gu Ze had been kidnapped, he ran away from the hospital.
With the help of Professor Agasa's intelligence and his own cleverness, he deduced the robbers' escape route and followed it to this place.
Gin, why is he here?! Where is he taking Gu Ze?!
We can't let him take Gu Ze away!
His hand was on his belt, ready to launch an invincible, explosive soccer ball at Gin.
Kurosawa Jin, clinging to the rope ladder, naturally noticed Conan as well. When he saw that Conan had already created a soccer ball with a belt, he knew something was wrong.
Shinichi Kudo, Shinichi Kudo, please stop causing me trouble here!!!
"Pull me up quickly!" Seeing Conan about to squat down, Kurosawa Jin was a little anxious.
[Transfer completion rate, 90%...91%...]
The rope ladder was getting shorter and shorter until Kurosawa Jin was only an arm's length away from the helicopter door.
[Transfer completion rate, 96%...97%...]
Morobuchi Kagemitsu reached out his hand to pull Kurosawa Jin.
At this moment...
"Bang—"
A bullet was fired from behind Conan, grazing the top of his head, and heading towards Kurosawa Jin and Gu Ze on the rope ladder.
"Pfft!"
Flesh and blood were pierced, bones were shattered, and bullets pierced Gu Ze's skull, with white brain matter mixed with bright red blood spurting out.
The soul transfer, which was originally a race against time, seemed to be interrupted. Kurosawa Jin's pupils shrank, and his eyes instantly lost their luster.
He seemed to lose control of his body; his grip on the rope ladder loosened, and he was about to fall.
"Kurosawa-nii!"
Morofushi Kagemitsu leaned over the helicopter door and grabbed his brother Kurosawa's hand, preventing him from falling.
However, Vest was not so lucky. He fell straight down from the height of the third floor, his figure drawing a shrill arc in the air.
"Bang!"
The dull thud made people's ears ring. He crashed heavily onto the hard concrete ground, and blood spread out beneath him, forming a dark pool of blood.
"Brother Gu Ze—" Conan cried out in anguish, running headlong toward the direction where Gu Ze had fallen.
He stumbled to Gu Ze's body and knelt down helplessly.
Clear tears streamed down Conan's face, turning his vision blood red.
Above him, Morofushi Kagemitsu pulled Kurosawa Jin back into the helicopter, the helicopter door closed, and it quickly flew away from this place of trouble.
But Conan had no time to pay attention to any of that; he just stared blankly at Gu Ze's corpse.
His limbs were bent at unnatural angles, the protrusions of broken bones pierced his clothes, and his brown hair, stained with blood, clung messily to his lifeless cheeks.
A bloody bullet hole was embedded between Gu Ze's eyebrows, extremely glaring, and the aura of death was so heavy in the air that it was suffocating.
Gu Ze is dead...
Just a day ago we were chatting and laughing on the cruise ship, and now... why...?
"Why? Why did this happen!" Conan pounded the ground with his fists, his rationality completely broken.
Who was it? Who fired the shot?
With questions still lingering in his eyes and wet with tears, Conan turned around and an unexpected person appeared in his field of vision.
There stood "Kurosawa Jin," who should have been in the hospital, unharmed, still holding the gun that killed Gu Ze.
His expression was indifferent, showing no sign of having just killed someone.
Why is he here? Conan wondered, his brain racing.
He framed Gu Ze! It was all his scheme! To harm Brother Gu Ze!
He might not be the real Kurosawa Jin!
"Who are you? You're not Kurosawa Jin!" Conan stood up, his eyes red as he loudly questioned.
Despite Conan's ruthless exposure, Kurosawa Jin's expression remained unchanged, as if the brat in front of him was an insignificant insect.
(You're no longer needed now that the task is complete.)
Negroni's words rang in the ears of "Kurosawa-jin," issuing the final command.
Upon hearing this, Kurosawa Jin grinned maliciously at Conan, and then did something that would shock Conan for a hundred years.
He slowly raised the gun and pointed it at his own head. With a "bang," another person's head exploded.
The world turned gray, time slowed down, and the outside world's clamor was replaced by silence...
Conan Edogawa stood frozen between the two corpses, his mind completely blank.
This whole thing is strange...
Why did Gu Ze confess? How did the "Black Swamp Formation" appear there? Who gave him the gun? Why did he want to kill Gu Ze?
No one answered Conan's questions because the person in question was dead!
No one gave Conan any more hints or information, because someone else had died!
Two days have passed since Gu Ze's funeral. In Professor Agasa's house, Conan is in a dimly lit room, moving the mouse in front of a computer that is emitting a bright light.
His bloodshot eyes reflected the words on the screen, and the dark circles under his eyes were frighteningly thick.
"Hey, Shinichi, take a break." Professor Agasa walked into the room and placed a glass of milk on the table.
"No, I haven't found out the truth yet." Conan didn't look at Professor Agasa, his eyes fixed on the screen.
Seeing Conan like this, Professor Agasa frowned, feeling distressed as well.
"Alas!" Alibos sighed helplessly.
He was also very saddened by Gu Ze's death, but being over fifty years old, he was more able to accept the separation of death than Shinichi Kudo.
"Doctor, just ignore him!"
Ai Haibara stood at the doorway with her arms crossed, her eyes swollen.
"Let him be like this! If his health collapses, no one will be there to avenge Gu Ze," Ai Haibara said, trying to provoke him.
This sentence was very effective, touching Conan's heart, and his wildly waving hands stopped.
He didn't say anything, but jumped off the chair, lowered his head, and walked past Professor Agasa and Ai Haibara through the kitchen door.
His thick bangs covered his face, making it impossible to see his expression.
He left the room, went downstairs, and headed straight for the front door.
"Shinichi, where are you going?" Professor Agasa chased after him, calling out worriedly.
“Next door…” Conan said calmly.
"It's good to let Shinichi have some peace and quiet," Dr. Agasa thought, and didn't chase after him any further.
In Gu Ze's house next door, Conan skillfully pushed open the door and entered.
After Gu Ze's death, the villa has been without an owner, and the key is currently being kept by Dr. Ali.
The interior furnishings are still the same as before.
As he looked at the familiar scene, many memories flashed through Conan's mind.
He still remembered that it was the first time they met. He hid nervously behind the sofa, convinced that Gu Ze was one of the organization's people.
Thinking this, Conan put his hands in his pockets, walked through the living room, and slowly climbed the stairs.
He walked aimlessly down the long corridor, lost in a daze...
At that moment, he caught a glimpse of a photograph out of the corner of his eye. The door to the room was ajar, and he could see inside through the crack.
This is the study. Conan walked in, looked around at the antique bookshelves, and finally headed towards the desk.
There was a computer, a pen, a few books, and several picture frames on it...
The photo frame contains a group photo of Matsuda Jinpei, Hagiwara Kenji, and Gu Ze, as well as photos of Professor Agasa, Ai Haibara, and Conan.
The photo of Conan shows him falling flat on his face when he first tried Professor Agasa's skateboard.
A dark history suddenly appeared before his eyes, and Conan picked up the photo frame and started grinning foolishly.
After a long while, he put down the photo and looked at the computer.
Wait a minute, what is this?
The sharp-eyed Conan immediately noticed something was wrong with the computer keyboard.
"Looking at this keyboard layout, it doesn't seem like it's from Japan, it seems more like... China?"
On the keyboard, the keycaps were arranged neatly, but on the row ASDFGHJKL, there was an arrow from left to right, and there was a circle above the G key.
"Oh right, the riddle Gu Ze gave me!" He suddenly remembered the riddle Gu Ze had given him.
If we take the keyboard layout ASDFGHJKL as the x-axis and G as the origin.
In "RACHE", the coordinates of the letter "A" are (-4, 0) and the coordinates of "H" are (1, 0).
Above the letters "A" and "H" is an arrow indicating an exchange.
Conan stroked his chin, pondering, "So what does this arrow mean? Does it mean the two coordinates are interchanged? What do these coordinates really represent?"
Since the clues are in this room, the answer may also be in this room.
A study? Books!
Conan looked at the rows of bookshelves next to his desk, and after some searching, he found an "o" symbol in the lower left corner of one of the bookshelves.
"I understand!"
He will swap the book at coordinates (-4, 0) and the book at coordinates (1, 0)...
"Splash—"
Conan heard the sound of a mechanism; the row of bookshelves automatically slid to both sides, revealing the door to a secret room.
A locked room!
There's even a secret room here!
Conan looked astonished and it took him a while to react before he reached out to push the door.
As soon as he entered the secret room, the lights inside turned on instantly upon sensing his presence.
At the same time, a high-end-looking computer screen placed opposite the door was turned on.
"Hello, this is Gu Ze. I'm very unhappy to serve you." Gu Ze's left-behind audio played automatically.
"Shinichi Kudo, congratulations on solving the mystery! Welcome to my intelligence station!"
"Here you find all the truth you've been searching for!!!"
Conan was stunned, staring blankly at the filing cabinets and high-end equipment filling the room, listening to Gu Ze's last words.
At the end of the audio recording, Gu Ze spoke.
"Sherlock Holmes has his own intelligence network, so how can our great detective not have his own intelligence station?"
"So, from now on, this secret room is yours. It contains all my hard work, so you must take good care of it~"
After hearing this, Conan was stunned for a long time and only said one sentence.
"Thank you, Brother Gu Ze."
[Author's Note]
It will be finished soon, probably this week. [cheering emojis] I'm currently reviewing and planning what novel to write next.
