Chapter 44 Feeding the Fish in the River
In a simple rented room in Beika City, two handsome men faced each other, neither of them uttering a sound.
The blond, dark-skinned undercover police officer leaned against the gray-white wall, arms crossed, looking menacing.
Meanwhile, FBI undercover agent Shuichi Akai—no, he should now be called Dai Moroboshi—was resting with his eyes closed by the open window.
Amuro Tooru silently observed the long-haired, cold-looking man, mentally assessing his level of danger.
After undergoing undercover police training, he successfully infiltrated the organization. Now, all he needs to do is pass an assessment to obtain a code name, and he can become a mole planted by the police within the organization.
"Knock knock knock." A knock on the door broke the awkward silence between the two.
Amuro Tooru's body tensed for a moment, but seeing that Moroboshi Dai remained unmoved, he had no choice but to open the door since he was closest to it.
The person outside was still persistently banging on the door, and Morofushi Kagemitsu, with his beard, exuded a mature air.
“Clatter.”
The door opened, and the childhood friends met, both showing a barely perceptible moment of surprise.
Amuro Tooru never expected that Morofushi Kagemitsu, who had disappeared after graduating from the police academy, would actually infiltrate the same organization as him.
To avoid arousing suspicion, Amuro Tooru opened the door and left without looking back, returning to his original position to continue his aloof act.
Morifushi Kagemitsu closed the open door, glanced around, and, forcing himself to break the awkward silence, coughed lightly.
"Ahem, my name is Hikaru Midorikawa..."
"Toru Amuro."
"Moroboshi Dai." Moroboshi Dai finally opened his eyes, revealing his unique Akai family eyes.
"..."
Kurosawa Jin, who witnessed the entire event on the monitor, couldn't help but chuckle.
Kurosawa Jin: Oh my, your acting skills are so-so.
Kurosawa Jin, whose acting skills were off the charts, chuckled to himself before sending an order to Vodka via his phone.
Kurosawa Jin didn't plan to show himself at the beginning, as that would be uncool. He would let Vodka make contact with them first, while he would stay behind the scenes.
A few minutes later, the familiar big guy opened the door to the room. Vodka stood tall and proud, and he had to show the imposing presence of a codename member in front of the newcomer.
Vodka scanned the faces of the three members of the Future Whiskey Group; he had read their files.
“Pass them all.” Vodka said in a serious and unquestionable tone, “I don’t care what you did before. If you want to join the organization, then you have to follow the organization’s arrangements.”
“My codename is Vodka.” He held up the documents in his hand. “Here are three missions. These three missions are your tasks for the next period of time, and the deadline is…”
"Where's Gin?" The long-haired, blue-eyed man looked up at Vodka and interrupted him without hesitation. "I remember, Gin was our examiner, wasn't he?"
The implication is, why should I listen to you?
“The text message from the organization said that we should follow Lord Gin’s arrangements,” Amuro Tooru chimed in.
After infiltrating the organization, this was the first opportunity for the undercover trio to make contact with the organization's higher-ups, and they certainly couldn't miss it.
The three men were menacing, as if they wouldn't rest until they saw Gin today.
"you……"
Vodka, a veteran member of the organization, was surprisingly outmaneuvered by three newcomers.
This isn't Vodka's fault. Moroboshi Dai's cold eyes and god-like aura are practically a carbon copy of Gin. Vodka has a feeling that, barring any unforeseen circumstances, these three newcomers will reach heights he can hardly attain.
"A bunch of troublemakers." Kurosawa Jin cursed under his breath while watching the monitor, then picked up his phone and dialed Vodka's number.
Meanwhile, just when the three undercover agents thought they had the upper hand, the guy codenamed Vodka's phone rang.
The big guy picked it up shakily. He knew his older brother had come to his rescue, so he turned on speakerphone.
"Big...Big Brother..."
"Useless trash!" A furious reprimand echoed throughout the room, and everyone fell silent. "Go and receive your punishment."
"Yes," Vodka replied respectfully, tears of sorrow streaming down his face.
"As for the three of you..."
"Heh!" Kurosawa Jin chuckled dismissively, watching the expressions of the three people through the monitor.
Amuro Tooru pursed his lips into a thin line, his expression serious, while Midorikawa Hikaru's eyes showed some panic, and his slightly worried gaze kept glancing at Amuro Tooru.
The troublemaker, Moroboshi Dai, still wore the same expression, showing no fear whatsoever.
Kurosawa Jin: Tsk, not happy!
"Vodka, give them the mission information," Kurosawa Jin said with a wicked grin.
Of the three missions, there is one assassination mission and two intelligence gathering missions. The two intelligence gathering missions are of moderate difficulty, but the assassination mission is extremely dangerous and difficult.
He specifically instructed Vodka to assign assassination missions to Dai Moroboshi when distributing tasks.
This was specially chosen by Kurosawa Jin, who also secretly tampered with it. Without losing half his life, Moroboshi Dai wouldn't be able to complete the mission.
"Heh, you guys seem pretty arrogant. Well then, let me see what you're made of."
"Hey you at the very front, Moroboshi Dai, you have one night. Finish the mission by 8 a.m. tomorrow. Everyone else, it's 5 p.m. tomorrow."
“The organization doesn’t keep useless people. Only those who complete their missions are qualified to see me. Otherwise… ha!” Kurosawa Jin paused for a moment and said, word by word.
"You'll all be feeding the fish in the river!"
After finishing his lines, Kurosawa Jin hung up the phone decisively, turned off the surveillance cameras, and lit a cigarette.
He was thinking about how to act well when he met with Amuro Tooru, so as not to give himself away.
...
An hour later, in an apartment in Mika, Naoto Eikai looked at the uninvited guest with a look of utter disapproval.
"When did you get back?" He handed the tea to Kurosawa Jin.
"Not long ago," Kurosawa Jin said, crossing his legs and revealing a rare hint of tenderness after removing his Gin vest, "I just came to see my dear brother~"
After Kurosawa Jin handed the task over to the newcomer, he suddenly felt like he had nothing to do and, as if by some strange twist of fate, ended up at one of Hideaki Naoto's hideouts.
Upon hearing this, Naoto Eikai gave Jin Kurosawa a sidelong glance.
Since Gu Gu publicly revealed that he was Kurosawa Jin's younger brother, Naoto Eikai completely bid farewell to his wonderful travel life and devoted himself to working for the Kurosawa Group.
Gu Gu explained, "I used to run the Kurosawa Group outside of this world. But since Gin is gone, the Heavenly Dao has taken control of my authority, so... I can only trouble you to manage it... Please, please!"
Under Gu Gu's pitiful gaze and coercion, Naoto Eikai shamelessly agreed to her request.
Naoto Eikai: No, not at all.
As the two chatted, Naoto Hideaki suddenly said with a smile, "Have you not been working on your approval rating lately?"
"Hmm, what's wrong?"
“It’s nothing. I’ve met people like you when I was an executive officer in the Anti-IF Line Alliance. These little things like the Approval Value Detector are quite interesting,” Naoto Eikai said meaningfully.
"What do you mean?"
"Just a heads-up." Before Kurosawa Jin could press further, Hideaki Naoto adopted a dismissive attitude: "The door's right there, no way you're leaving!"
