Chapter 51

Chapter 51

On a stormy night, three young men set up a table in an abandoned school building. They crossed their right hands, holding the same brush, and whispered:

Pen Fairy, you are my past life, and I am your present life. If you want to continue your relationship with me, please draw a circle on the paper. *

As soon as the words fell, the three people's hands suddenly moved, and the brushes led their hands to draw circles on the paper.

The first person swallowed and said, "Did anyone of you move?" His companions denied it again and again.

One of my companions said, "Look, this drawing is so round, it can't be drawn by us, it must be the Pen Fairy."

So the three of them held their pens and asked their questions in turn.

The first person asked: "Pen Fairy, Pen Fairy, how old can I live to?" The pen drew a circle on eighteen.

The second person asked: Pen Fairy, Pen Fairy, are you male or female? Pen Fairy circled one gender.

The third person was disdainful of this and asked: Pen Fairy, Pen Fairy, how did you die?

The Pen Fairy did not answer. Slowly, one of them heard the sound of water dripping.

The first person couldn't help but say: Is the Pen Fairy angry?

The third person smiled and said: The old house is just leaking, there is no such thing as a pen fairy.

Before he could finish, a loud thunderclap exploded, and lightning illuminated the entire room. One of the men saw four figures at the window.

"Pen Fairy, Pen Fairy, how did you die?" The third person was still asking.

Water continued to drip from the fourth figure, and his body became larger and larger.

The third person seemed unaware. Suddenly, a cold hand patted him hard on the shoulder.

“Ahhhhhhhh!!!” “Boom!”

Zhu Changan jumped up with a roar, and his head hit the roof of the car heavily, making a dull thud.

It sounds like a good start.

Mo Xuanji silently withdrew his hand, unscrewed the thermos and drank a sip of water as if nothing had happened.

"Pfft, hahahaha Xuanji, don't scare him." Shen Liuxue, who was telling scary ghost stories a few seconds ago, burst out laughing.

"I'll be more careful next time." Mo Xuanji coughed dryly and silently looked away. In truth, it was the system that kept goading him this time. It was he who failed to keep his original intention. I'm sorry, Chang'an.

The system, which was still happily eating melons, looked up:?

Zhu Changan: "Hmm."

“But Chang’an wouldn’t be afraid of ghost stories, right?” Shen Liuxue asked with interest, as if he had discovered a new world.

"I'm not afraid of that!" Zhu Changan immediately retorted, covering his head. "It's just that this story and the current scene are so immersive, and Xuanji happened to shoot me at that moment, so I was scared."

Mo Xuanji subconsciously glanced out the window. The weather wasn't great today; it had been raining all day. Fine raindrops rustled against the car window. On any other day, this would have been a perfect day for sleep, but unfortunately, no one could sleep today.

"Everyone seems a bit listless, so I'm going to tell you a story to cheer them up. And it just so happens that this story is related to our mission this time."

"Is this mission related to the Pen Fairy?" Zhu Changan asked curiously, rubbing his head. There were so many words on the mission board that he felt a headache just by looking at it. Therefore, he only focused on the mission requirements: rescue the trapped people and capture the strange creature if conditions permit.

This time the weirdness is quite special. There is even a special requirement noted on the task board: it must be alive.

The location of their mission this time was the former site of a high school.

"It is said that more than 20 years ago, a student was playing the Pen Fairy game in the dormitory. Unexpectedly, they summoned something strange. As a result, all three people who participated in the game died mysteriously. After that, people here kept having accidents, and even died in the same way as the first three people."

"After the school moved, the authorities stepped in and designated this place a restricted area, prohibiting ordinary people from entering. They also blocked the news. What happened back then has become a baseless rumor in the eyes of ordinary people. Twenty years of peace had been peaceful, but unexpectedly, just yesterday, a few ordinary people ran in to play the Pen Spirit game for the sake of excitement."

At this point, Shen Liuxue couldn't help but sigh: "They are also a group of capable people... Not only did they play around, they also broadcast live inside. Fortunately, the authorities took quick action and prevented it from spreading widely."

"Good boy." Zhu Changan scratched his head. "But why didn't the authorities deal with that weird thing? This mission doesn't even require us to capture it. It's obviously not very powerful."

"That's where it gets weird. This strange energy fluctuation is only B-level, but under normal circumstances, the Nuwa system can't detect its presence. Even if it did, the psychic team rushed to the scene and dug deep into the ground but couldn't find any trace of the strange thing. In the end, they returned empty-handed."

The authorities had no other choice but to designate this place as a restricted area.

"The higher-ups want to see the body, alive or dead. No matter what, we have to take something back."

Although they were eager to take on the mission, the three of them were a little unsure. The previous two missions had been led by reliable seniors, but from now on, it was just the three of them, the newbies.

"It doesn't matter, at least he's a bitch. People won't always be unlucky, and there will definitely not be an accident like last time this time. Saving a person is not a piece of cake." Zhu Changan was comforting himself, but his two friends looked at him with complicated eyes.

"Chang'an, sometimes you really can't say anything careless." Shen Liuxue was a little confused.

"It shouldn't be that bad..."

The system's focus was elsewhere: "Pen Fairy? This is a novelty. Tell me more about it."

"You don't know?"

"The system also has blind spots that cannot collect information." The system's voice was lazy and very rogue.

"Okay." Mo Xuanji was already accustomed to the occasional unreliability of his reliable system. He thought for a moment and looked up the online definition of the Pen Fairy.

"The so-called Pen Fairy is a ghost summoned by a ritual, and it is said to be related to one's past life. If the Pen Fairy is not sent away after the game, under normal circumstances, the summoner will have bad luck for a while at most."

"I see." The system thought thoughtfully.

As he was speaking, the car slowly stopped.

"arrive."

It was already dark, and the car lights had limited illumination. Before the three of them lay a sliding iron gate covered in vegetation. The paint had peeled, revealing patches of rust. Scattered dark red stains, like blood, appeared eerie and sinister in the dim light.

The three of them shuddered.

Zhu Changan was the first to get out of the car, his umbrella open. Perhaps it was because they had opened the door to a new world under the guidance of a senior student last time, but the three of them all chose black clothes. Even the umbrellas, flashlights, and tool kits they carried were all black.

Zhu Changan even wore a pair of sunglasses. Standing in the rain, holding an umbrella, he gently pushed the frame of his glasses with his index and middle fingers. The next second, a dazzling white light burst forth from the dark lenses.

Mo Xuanji clapped silently from behind.

"Very good. A rainy night, a wasteland, and three men in black holding black umbrellas. All the elements are complete."

Maybe it was a psychological effect, but after the prank, the gloomy and desolate atmosphere here seemed to have faded a lot.

The drainage system here seems to be poorly maintained, and every two steps on the muddy ground will reveal a puddle of water. The air is filled with the fresh scent of plants.

Twenty years ago, when technology and labor were scarce, the sliding door that served as the school's main entrance was even manually operated. Now, it's been entangled in overgrown vegetation, completely unable to move.

"Just use your supernatural power to cut it off." As he spoke, a ball of green light appeared in Mo Xuanji's hand.

"Don't bother, let me do it." Zhu Changan rolled up his sleeves, stepped forward, grabbed a piece, and then pulled it hard to the side. With the sound of plants breaking and the creaking of rusted metal, the sliding door was pulled out of the track by Zhu Changan.

"Great job, Chang'an!" Mo Xuanji and Shen Liuxue gave him a thumbs up.

Zhu Changan chuckled and casually threw the iron door aside. He wiped the dirt off his hands and said, "Okay, let's go in."

Mo Xuanji turned on the flashlight and walked in front.

Without human interference, this place has clearly become a paradise for plants. Buildings not far away are covered in creepers, some even breaking through the walls, with faint glimpses of the interior through the cracks.

The weeds on the ground had grown to half a person's height, and some of them had been trampled down, forming a winding path. The footprints were relatively neat, and it was obvious that the group had not encountered any danger while walking this section of the road.

The creases on the blades and rhizomes were still fresh; no surprise, this was the path those unfortunate individuals had taken. As everyone knows, the fastest way to find a missing person is to follow their path. The three of them exchanged a glance and set foot on this crooked "path."

The traces of activity extended all the way to a low-rise building. A sign hung on the door outside. Although the writing had become blurred due to age, the words "Distribution Room" could still be seen.

The power switch had been turned off. As expected, too much time had passed and the power supply here had long been damaged.

"What is this, a notebook?" Shen Liuxue's surprised voice came from behind.

"What book? Let me see it." Zhu Changan said.

Hearing the noise, Mo Xuanji also came over curiously.

The notebook was open, and on the yellowed pages were pasted fragments of newspaper clippings, which were exactly the kind of clippings that were popular twenty years ago.

The owner of the notebook was very careful and marked the date of creation on each page. I don’t know if it’s a coincidence, but the date on the first page is exactly 20 years ago today.

Shen Liuxue carefully turned the pages while Zhu Changan read the contents beside him.

"The Jieye Dafa is good, it strengthens the body..." This seems to be a promotional advertisement for some qigong school.

"The Miracle of the Midnight Church?" This photo only has a title, and the content is unknown.

"Shocking! Why would a teenage girl jump off a building to commit suicide?" "So it was shocking twenty years ago?" This picture doesn't contain any special information. The title seems to be just for the sake of publicity. The author eloquently lists a lot of psychological problems of adolescent boys and girls, but there is not a single mention of the event in the title.

"Looking back at the incident at Yucai No. 1 Middle School, was it bad feng shui or was there some other reason..."

"Yucai No. 1 Middle School?" Seeing the key words, Mo Xuanji immediately became excited.

The place where they are now is the original site of Yucai No. 1 Middle School.
