"A-Ya, are you hungry?" The girl handed the meat to A-Ya.
Aya is blind and cannot speak, but fortunately, her hands and feet are still intact.
The girl smiled brightly when she saw her nod.
"Ah-ya, my name is Ah-fu. You can call me Sister Ah-fu from now on... Oh, right, I forgot, you can't speak." Ah-fu was a little disappointed.
She grew up in the snowy region, witnessing the rise and fall of several demon lords. She survived in the cracks, yet she persevered. Those around her were either dead or had fled; she no longer had any familiar faces.
On the mountain where she lived, there were very few living people.
Now that a new girl has arrived, a pitiful little girl, Afu is actually quite happy.
Although she cannot speak or see.
Afu was still lost in thought when his hand was grabbed.
Ah Ya opened her hand and gently wrote two words on it.
Ah Fu.
Afu couldn't read, but he could still guess what she had written.
So she asked happily, "A-Ya, is that my name?"
A gentle smile appeared on Ah Ya's face, and she nodded softly.
Afu was overjoyed: "Great, great! Aya, can you write on the ground? I want to learn to write my name."
Ah Ya nodded slightly.
From that day on, Afu had a new companion.
Her name is Aya.
Afu knew that Aya wasn't actually called Aya. She could write; she must have been blind before. How could a child from such a family be called Aya?
But when Afu asked Aya what her name was, Aya just shook her head gently and said nothing.
Half a month after Aya arrived, Afu's life changed.
Because the newly arrived Demon Lord seems to have begun to bow his head and see them, the people living at the bottom of the snowy land.
Afu is a born demon. Although she does not have a strong talent for cultivation, she can only absorb evil energy because of her bloodline.
He's almost twenty years old now, but he's still only at the Qi Refining stage.
But what can you do when there are so few people in the snowy region?
The Demon Lord wanted people to do things, so he had to use even demons who had no cultivation.
Afu was assigned to clean the house.
Afu was particularly happy about this job, since he didn't have to face his superiors but could still have a full stomach, something he had never imagined in his life.
"Ah-Ya, you are truly my lucky star. Look, my life has become much easier since you came. It's a pity that you don't have any malevolent energy. If you go out, others will discover you, and you will definitely not survive."
Ah Ya, however, was still smiling.
"Why are you always smiling? I think if I were blind and unable to speak, I would definitely be very sad."
Ah Ya wrote a few words on the ground.
"Because you're here."
These days, Aya has taught Afu many words. Although Afu has very poor talent for cultivation, his memory is quite good, and he has remembered most of them.
The two of them can still communicate to some extent.
When Afu saw those words, he was even happier and said with a smile, "I'm so happy to have Aya too."
Ah Ya smiled, but suddenly coughed a few times, and some bright red blood dripped from the corner of his mouth.
Afu's expression immediately changed: "Aya, what's wrong?"
Afu supported Aya, anxiously asking her questions.
Ah Ya, however, smiled and shook his head, indicating that she should not rush.
Her condition was merely due to the prolonged exposure of her body to the malevolent energy here, resulting in some changes. This was nothing to A-Ya.
But Afu took this to heart. She said, "You're my only friend, I have to save you. How about I take you out?"
Ah Ya shook his head.
She wants to stay here.
Afu didn't know why Aya wanted to stay here, but since Aya wasn't leaving, Afu had to find a way to help her.
Three days later, Afu returned covered in injuries.
She happily held up a piece of paper and said to Aya, "These past two days, the number of cultivators besieging our Snow Region has been increasing. Our Demon Lord is truly powerful; he actually defeated the patriarch of their most powerful family. I secretly picked up cultivators who weren't quite dead yet and brought them back to interrogate them, forcing them to write down the arrangement of the Spirit Gathering Array. Aya, if we have the Spirit Gathering Array, will your body recover?"
Ah Ya grabbed her hand and shook his head forcefully.
Aya had already smelled the scent of blood on Afu's body. She gestured anxiously, telling Afu not to take risks for her and not to set up the spirit-gathering array.
This would expose Afu.
But Afu held her hand back and said happily, "Don't worry, Aya, this is a very small spirit-gathering array, so small that no one can sense it once they leave this cave."
Aya still wouldn't let her set it up, but Afu simply picked Aya up and placed her outside the cave. She then began to ponder how to arrange the small spirit-gathering array inside the cave.
Another half month passed, and Afu finally set up the Spirit Gathering Array.
Although the effect was minimal, it was still able to attract some remaining spiritual energy.
Afu carried Aya back into the cave, looking at her expectantly.
Aya smiled gently again and nodded slightly, but continued to write on the ground.
"Don't take any more risks, I'm fine. Seal the entrance, and be careful."
Afu chuckled and said, "Don't worry, I'll definitely be careful. By the way, you're human, so you probably won't be used to demon food. I went outside and exchanged some vegetable seeds. When the weather gets warmer, I'll find a warm place to plant some, and maybe you'll be able to eat human food again after so long."
Aya listened blankly to Afu's chattering.
Perhaps because he was too lonely, Afu always had endless things to say to Aya.
In spring, the snowy region begins to warm up, and there are suitable planting sites in some low-lying areas.
Ah Fu hid Ah Ya well and went to farm the land himself.
A few days later, the lush green vegetables sprouted from the ground, and they were very appealing.
Afu happily shared the news with Aya, who was also delighted and said she was looking forward to eating the vegetables Afu had grown.
Another half month passed, and finally a batch of vegetables that Afu planted ripened.
She picked the vegetables and, following Aya's instructions, boiled them in water with a little salt. The two of them then ate a meal together.
Ah Fu said, "Being able to eat vegetables that we grow ourselves is such a blessing. Ah Ya, don't you agree?"
Aya nodded, smiling gently.
But for some reason, Afu couldn't see the usual feeling on her face.
Three days later, Afu saw the seriously injured Aya in his own courtyard.
Standing beside Aya was her Demon Lord.
Afu's face turned pale instantly. She knelt before the Demon Lord, but her gaze fell on Aya, who was almost lifeless.
She said, "Demon Lord, please spare her life."
