Chapter 2

Chapter 2

4.

Shiori Tadano squatted in front of the suitcase and stuffed the last folded piece of clothing into it, then stood up and rubbed her sore lower back.

Can someone invent an automatic moving robot? She really needs it!

Yesterday, Gojo Satoru took her to Yaga Masamichi to complete the job induction process, and today she had to move from the student dormitory where she had lived for four years to the teacher dormitory.

Although the two places are not far apart, there are so many things accumulated over the past four years that it is exhausting just to clean them up.

In fact, as a graduate, she should have moved out after graduation like her classmate Ino.

But Gojo Satoru always found various reasons to keep her: "We need a reliable assistant to substitute teach," "We need someone to try out the new spell tools," "We need an assistant to go on missions"... As time went by, she unknowingly became an extra-staff resident of the technical high school.

She originally planned to work as a freelance magician with Zhuye after graduation, and it was a good fit for the two of them to team up to take on missions.

But Gojo Satoru was too busy to spare much time to guide the first-year students. One day, when he returned to school after completing a mission, he suddenly asked her, "Shiori, why don't you stay at school and help me?"

Shiori was stunned for a moment and pointed at herself in confusion: "Me?" She muttered to herself, there are obviously more suitable candidates, such as Nanami-senpai, Meiming-senpai and others.

Gojo Satoru nodded: "Yeah! If you stay in school, you don't have to look for a house, and the students are all very cute."

Shiori touched her nose guiltily. In fact, the house was watched by Ino, and she was just joining in the fun. But the students were really cute.

Gojo Satoru added, "Oh, and double pay."

Shiori immediately responded, "Okay, I'll stay."

I'm sorry, Ino, the offer here is really too much. If you agree even a second later, it would be disrespectful to Fukuzawa Yukichi!

5.

The aroma of food wafted through the cafeteria. Shiori had just picked up her plate when she heard someone calling her:

"Shiori-chan! Over here!"

She turned her head and saw Xing Qiluolu waving at her with chopsticks in hand. Cheng Jinci next to her had puffed cheeks and nodded at her when he saw her looking at him.

"What a coincidence." Shiori walked over and sat down in the empty seat opposite them.

Hyo Jinci swallowed the rice ball in his mouth with force and asked, "Senior, didn't you go to the training ground today? I didn't seem to see you there this morning."

"I was moving into the dorm this morning," Shiori said as she scooped up some miso soup. "I'm staying at the technical high school as a teaching assistant."

"Teaching assistant?" Xing Qiluo Luo blinked. "Will I be able to see Shiori-chan more often from now on?"

"Yes." Shiori nodded and looked at the two of them again, "Did the mission go well recently?"

"I just exorcised a first-level cursed spirit yesterday. It went quite smoothly." Xing Qiluo Luo replied.

Hyokinji suddenly scratched his head: "Senior, is Gojo-sensei in school today?"

"I'm not sure." Shiori said as she took out her phone and opened the chat interface with Gojo Satoru, "Let me see..."

Cheng Jinci sighed, "Senior, it's good like this. Unlike my ex-girlfriend, she always stares at what I want to do."

Shiori tilted her head in confusion. She was not Gojo Satoru's girlfriend, so why was she staring at him every day?

"Xiao Jin! Don't mention your ex-girlfriend!" Xing Qiluolu reached out and patted his arm.

Shiori put her phone back in her pocket. "The teacher is not here today. He's on a mission. What do you want to talk to him about?"

"Teacher Gojo said that when I come back, he will test the results of my recent training..." Before Kyoujinci could finish his words, he was interrupted by Xing Qiluoluo.

"But today I want Xiao Jin to go shopping with me!" Xing Qiluo Luo said with a smile.

Watching the interaction between the two people in front of her, Shiori silently put the spoon back into the bowl. She had only drunk two sips of soup, so why did she feel full?

6.

After lunch, Shiori returned to the dormitory and continued editing yesterday's mission report.

After sending the report, she leaned back in her chair and picked up her phone from the table. When she unlocked the screen and opened Instagram, the top push notification happened to be a new update from her sister Tadono Shino.

When I clicked on the video, I saw the sister wearing a doll costume shaped like the sun and a shark, twisting her body to the melody. The background was the beach, and the title read "Endless Summer".

Shiori couldn't help but laugh out loud. She clicked "like" and her phone immediately vibrated. It was a message from her sister Shino: "I caught your like. Is your new job going well?"

Shiori replied, "It's going great! I just moved into the teachers' dormitory today." After a moment's thought, she added, "By the way, what kind of fantastic project is that MV, hahahaha!"

The other party immediately replied with a speechless bunny man emoji: "Don't mention it! This is simply the suffering scene of office workers! That was filmed in winter!"

"Thank you for your hard work."

My sister said she had to go record a show, and the two ended the conversation without much chat.

Afterwards, Shiori browsed Instagram again and liked Ino's post. He had posted another photo with Nanami-senpai. She clicked on Ino's profile and found that the screen was full of Nanami-senpai's figure.

...to motivate people?

"Are you free tonight? We have to celebrate our new job."

Gojo Satoru's message suddenly popped up, followed by another one: "I'll be there after I finish my mission," with the location of the izakaya attached at the end.

"Okay, see you tonight."

7.

As night falls, the warm yellow lanterns of the izakaya sway gently at the entrance of the alley, casting a hazy warm light.

As Shiori lifted the door curtain, Ichichi Jiegao raised her hand to signal her. Ieiri Naoko rested her elbows on the edge of the table and shook her beer glass.

"Good evening, Ijichi-senpai, Naoko-senpai." Shiori pulled out the wooden chair, which creaked slightly. She glanced at the empty seats, "Is the teacher not here yet?"

"He said he was going to buy something." Ijichi Jie paused as he flipped through the menu and added, "It's probably dessert. He's Gojo-san, after all."

Shiori nodded in understanding, and Ieiri Naoko pushed the menu in front of her: "Take a look at what you want to eat. Don't hesitate, someone's paying."

She ordered a double cantaloupe soda, along with buttered potatoes and fried chicken nuggets, which were the dishes she remembered Gojo Satoru often ordering at the izakaya.

The door was suddenly opened, and Gojo Satoru strode in, holding a paper bag from a dessert shop.

"Sorry for being late," he said with a smile on his face, gently placing the paper bag in front of her, "Dangdang—a new job gift, specially picked for Shiori."

Shiori quickly took it and looked up with a smile: "Thank you, teacher!"

As Gojo Satoru casually pulled out a chair and sat down, his long legs stretched out and kicked the table leg, making a soft, not-so-heavy, clatter. "We'll all be colleagues from now on. Wouldn't it be too awkward to keep calling me teacher?"

Shiori looked at him. "Should we call him Gojo-san like Ijichi-senpai? Or like Nozomi-senpai?"

"Eh..." Gojo Satoru seemed to be thinking seriously, "Then I'll just call you teacher."

Shiori nodded and lowered her head to drink the cantaloupe soda in her hand.

Ieiri Naoko scoffed and placed the fried chicken nuggets on Shiori's plate with her chopsticks. "Eat it quickly, or you'll finish five."

Sure enough, Gojo Satoru was holding a skewer and putting the last piece of fried chicken into his mouth. He didn't care that there was oil on the corner of his lips. When he saw Shiori looking at him, he deliberately shook the skewer in front of her.

8.

"Speaking of which—" Gojo Satoru changed the subject, his gaze landing on Shiori, "I saw your mission report today, and it mentioned a very interesting item."

Upon hearing this, Ijichi Jiegao pushed up his glasses, and Ieiri Naoko also raised her eyelids slightly, obviously both of them were curious.

"Is it called Huangmen Wan?" Gojo Satoru rested his chin on his hand. "The text description in the report is too boring. Why don't Shiori dictate it?"

Shiori put down the tissue she was using to wipe her mouth and spoke slowly: "The mission location is an abandoned building. I summoned the bamboo dragonfly first—"

Now she could summon the bamboo dragonfly stably. At that time, she floated lightly around the outside of the building with the bamboo dragonfly on her head, skimming over broken glass and rusted steel bars until she caught the cursed spirit's magical power fluctuations on the top floor.

"After discovering the target, I stopped nearby." She continued, "Because the spell for this cursed spirit is a bit tricky, I wanted to use a spell to assist. Sensei also knows that I need to try the spell several times before I can summon the right item..."

After launching the spell several times, a thumb-sized pill suddenly appeared in her palm, and at the same time, the instructions for its use instantly flooded into her mind.

——【Huangmen Pill】After taking it and stating your name, the target will feel extremely terrified and kneel down.

Shiori swallowed the pill immediately, and the bamboo dragonfly carried her through the broken window and landed on a beam not far from the cursed spirit.

The cursed spirit with compound eyes was chewing something with its head down. When it heard the noise, it turned its head suddenly, and the dripping mucus corroded small pits on the floor.

She met the curse spirit's fierce gaze and loudly called out her name.

As soon as she finished speaking, the cursed energy surrounding the cursed spirit suddenly trembled violently. The fierce gleam in its compound eyes faded like a popped balloon, replaced by utter terror. The next second, its massive body crashed to the ground, its limbs curled up and supported on the ground. It actually lowered its head towards her, as if kneeling in reverent worship.

"After that, it was easy." Shiori's lips curved slightly. "I drew my sword and exorcised it."

"That sounds like it would save a lot of trouble." After listening to this, Ieiri Naoko slowly took a sip of beer and said, "Can you lend it to me next time?"

"I'm afraid that won't work, Glass," Gojo Satoru said before Shiori could say anything. "The items Shiori summons with her rituals are bound to their user. If someone else uses them, they won't work."

"Huh..." Gojo Satoru leaned back in his chair, his arms casually draped behind his head. "Listening to those executives nagging in my ear today, all the pent-up annoyance I'd been feeling melted away in an instant~"

Shiori poked the ice in the cup with a straw and said seriously, "Then they have to pay me an extra salary." Of course, she made Zui Qie feel better, so this should be considered a separate price, right?

Gojo Satoru was amused by her serious look.

Ijichi Jiegao pushed up his glasses, silently picked up the menu, and added another order next to the fried chicken nuggets and buttered potatoes. After all, he was Mr. Gojo, and when he was in a good mood, his appetite would always double that of usual.
